This is what I wrote to the guy who gave me a free gift card because of the first disappointing experience… I just went into the same store that I had previously purchased from to redeem the gift card you sent. Thank you by the way. As I stood there and watched the young man make my sandwich I realized that the issue isn’t the first sandwich I received but the policy of the store. You see, the menu that depicts my choice is a beautiful sandwich. It is a delicious sourdough bun cut in half(only showed half of the sandwich). The lettuce is fresh and plentiful(not the same kind or as little as the young man was putting on mine), the tomatoes were fresh… all four of them. I know this because the half a sandwich had two so one could infer the other half would be just like it. Then I look over and the young man selects one, that’s «1», small, tomato slice and places it dead center in the sandwich, tops it with the bun, and slices it in half before wrapping it up and handing it to me. I was already disappointed. Before taking possession of the pitiful«sandwich» I already knew it was not the same as I had selected on the menu. So I asked the cashier about the one depicted on the menu and she told me that it was store policy to only put one. Then, a young punk behind the counter, and believe me, I am seriously toning down my language, comes over(not the manager because he had to come over and figure out the gift card), and decides he is going to «take charge.» With an appalling attitude this individual begins lecturing me on the price and growing process of tomatoes. Now I understand the ebb and flow of the produce market without some little kid with an attitude feeling he has to explain it to me. The point I was attempting to ask was, the menu is the only way to know what I would get because it is visually depicted and a price was set for what it is. Then to be given something less than that(less meat, less veggies) makes me feel as though I am being taken advantage of and THAT gets my blood boiling. Oh and by the way, the manager just stood there saying nothing while his shift worker did all of the talking. Now let me say these two things… The girl that took my order and began explaining before she was interrupted by the kid with the attitude, she was awesome! She was extremely polite, very helpful and understanding, and actually appeared to care about my feelings. The other thing is, the owner or whoever selects the music genre for the store has great music tastes. However, I am sad to say I don’t think I will return to Schlotzsky’s. Disappointed is one thing but the attitude of the employee as he looked down his nose at me, it is too much. And there are other sandwich stores near by. And I also feel I should write a review on Unilocal in regards to this distasteful experience. To let them know that what you are expecting is not what you will be getting. So thank you for getting back to me, I really didn’t expect to hear from anyone at all, and thank you so much for the gift card. But sadly it got me the exact same thing that got me to writing in the first place. On a side note, that girl who helped me, I don’t know her name unfortunately but she was about 5′ 3″, thin build with shoulder length, brown, straight bobbed hair, and pale complexion, SHE… needs to be trained as a manager. The kid with the attitude needs to seriously be retrained on how to address customers. No respect whatsoever. And you sir, are doing a good job and I am very appreciative. Thank you.
