We love this place. This is the place to go for good German food in town. My favorite is the Rahm Schnitzel with warm potato salad.

Had the Jaeger Schnitzel here once. It was over cooked but cold. Most likely I was served microwaved lunch leftovers.

have not been in for over 2 years. Sadly after tonight I will not be back. This is our first trip to Huntsville since moving back from the west coast. We came especially here for you guys. Upon arrival in the restaurant you have a sign that says please wait to be seated. There were 2 tables with customers and a guy and couple standing at the bar. After standing there for about 5 minutes, the guy from the couple said we could sit anywhere. So we picked a booth. After waiting for 10 minutes, watching people walk in and out of the kitchen with aprons on and NEVER seeing a waiter, we left. Apparently my husband saw a wait person heading towards us as we walked out. The place was dead, and the service was deplorable. I used to look forward to coming to your place. I now know Hildegard’s is amazing, so thank you.

I was there this week for lunch. There was another gentleman seated separately and we were the only two customers there, yet it took almost an hour to get my food. The schnitzel was hard and warm at best as were the potatoes. There is no lunch menu so I spent a dinner price for food that may have been good 20 mins prior to its arrival to my table. There was a younger gentleman that was extremely helpful and my waitress was kind. But I would never return for lunch and I would not recommend for lunch dining.

Love the schnitzel ranch. Staff is always nice and the food is great. I didn’t have anything yet that didn’t taste good and the prices are great.

My husband an I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. He had the Ranch House Schnitzel and I had Chicken Cordon Bleu. Both were fantastic. We tried the kroketten, fried potatoes, potato dumplings, and spätzle for our sides and shared them. All of them were very good! Our server was great. We will definitely be back.

My daughter says that this place is very close to home! She lived in Germany with my mother and she said that this is as close as she has gotten!

When my family and I were eating a lot of German(stopped bc of diets), we would always go to the Schnitzel Ranch. So much so that we stopped going to Ol’ Heidelberg. We really enjoy the taste and flavor if their schnitzel. I always get the chicken cordon Bleu with pan fried potatoes(fried light) and red cabbage. They give you a nice piece thick piece of schnitzel. The customer service is always good. It’s a family owner business and they are all nice. Definitely must try if you like German food.

First visit to this restaurant and I was very impressed. From the outside it looked kinda shady, but once inside you knew you were in a German themed location. Beer mugs hang from the ceiling and pictures of record time«boot drinkers» adorn the walls. The food was good, providing large, well prepared dishes. My spouse had the potato pancakes which were served with apple sauce and I had schnitzel with brown gravy, mushrooms and French fries. I had a «lady» sized beer(not small by any means) and my wife did the iced tea for about $ 23.00 before tip. Not bad. Only things I did not like; no black bread; butter patties were served ice cold, rock hard; and the men’s room could use a revamp(e.g. cleaning). Other than that, it appeared to be a real nice place. Plenty of free parking. They also got a little gimmick where you raise a table flag when you need service, kind of reminded me of a restaurant in the Republic of Panama who had a similar set up, although they used a red light bulb to indicate that service was required. Unique and different. Certainly worth a try. Rated it A-OK because I HATE ice cold, rock hard butter.

Great German restaurant. Came here on a Saturday night and was serenaded throughout the night by a great German themed polka type band! The food was outstanding having pad taken in the snitzel and spetzle!(Spelling). Couldn’t decide what beer to try so I started with a sampler and worked my way up from there! Outstanding service and had an authentic feeling experience all the way around. Highly recommended for anyone passing through Huntsville looking for a different experience from the norm.

I ate here once about a year ago… very pleased with the weiner schnitzel and red cabbage and pommes and salad… BUT, they have very weird hours and this past summer, I stopped by like on a Wednesday evening and they were closed… I had thought they went out of business… they need a much better bar area… when people go to a German place, they expect a strong, sturdy bar with all the old world ambiance… this bar is cheap and flimsy looking. This place has sooooo much potential, they just need to ramp it up and remodel the place… make it a destination… currently, it is not.

I very much enjoyed my visit here. This was my first trip to a German restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious! I am not a connoisseur of German food, so I can’t say anything about how«authentic» it was, but I can tell you that I enjoyed each and every bite of my schnitzel! It had a very romantic style ambiance and the staff was very friendly. I did like the«service flag» on the table. When we needed something, we put it up and a server came over. Otherwise they left us alone to enjoy our meal.

My husband and I ate hear after hearing it was good from some friends and we were sorely disappointed. For starters, the service was incredibly slow and disorganized. The two waitresses could not keep track of their tables and there only 14 in the main dining room. When our food finally arrived, it was less than appealing. My order of cucumber salad could be more accurately described as «soup.» The cucumbers were mushy, like they had been cut a few days prior and put in the dressing and left in the fridge. Needless to say, it was not appetizing. Our schnitzel(mine was plain chicken, my husband’s was jäger schnitzel), was deep fried(not pan fried like it is traditionally cooked) thus leaving it incredibly dry. The gravy on my husband’s dish was had a distinct metallic taste and said his spaetzle left much to be desired. The only saving grace on my plate was the potato salad but it reminded me of can German potato salad(which is still tasty but lacks that flavor that one can only get from homemade potato salad). After waiting close to 20 minutes for our check, we left with an uncomfortable feeling in our stomachs and canceled the rest of our plans to spend the evening passing the bottle of Pepto. Needless to say, we will not be back. If we want German food, we’ll go to another one of Huntsville’s fine German establishments or make it ourselves.

Been going here for about almost two years now with a good buddy of mine from work for lunch. Arguably some of the BEST schnitzel you can get in Huntsville. I’ve been to Old Heidelberg and Café Berlin, and in my opinion this place beats them. I’ve had pretty much everything on the menu, but what keeps me coming back is the schnitzel. If you want a wider variety of German food, go to Old Heidelberg or Café Berlin. If you want some of the best schnitzel around, go to the Schnitzel Ranch. The menu selection might be small, and most of it is schnitzel, but hey, it’s called the Schnitzel Ranch. The employees are very friendly and cheerful, but service can get a little slow sometimes(about two servers for the entire restaurant). I do like that little«Need Service» flag you can raise when you need something, but sometimes that isn’t enough to get their attention.

So, I’ve eaten at Schnitzel Ranch several times since my original review in 2008. While a little small on the beer selection, what they do have is very good(Paulaner), and the food ingredients are of better quality too. In the three times that I’ve been back, the servers(Rejna & Chris) that I’ve had have been excellent. The atmosphere has been fun, and watching my buddy drink three liters of Hefe-Weizen has been a blast. I’ll definitely be returning to the Schnitzel Ranch in the future.
