Steak ‘n Shake

The service is hit and miss here. Some times you get a server that should be in an upscale restaurant and sometimes you get a sever that acts like they are on their way to a twenty year prision sentence. However wr do like the kids eat free weekends and al you can eat pancakes for $ 4

My husband and I had the pleasure of being served our lunch by Tammi on 10÷28÷15. She was friendly, efficient, and helpful. The food was good, but her service is what made our visit so enjoyable. Next time we are on this side of town and stop in for a meal or shake, we will request to have Tammi as our server. She is fantastic.

Burgers, fries, and chicken items are good. Milkshakes are great. The service seems to always fall short. Wait staff is always friendly but our order seems to get messed up every time. Today our soup was barely warm, sauce and napkins were completely forgotten. It’s always something like that every time so just check your order.

I love the steak ‘n shake at this location.

Service can be improved though…

We go every month or so. I like their burgers, but I have never been at the S&S in HSV (inside or through the drive thru) when everything has gone well. Either the food comes out at random times or you get trapped in the drive for an excess amount of time. S&S does take longer than a regular fast food joint to get your food to you and they let you know that, but sometimes it is not food prep time, it is just poor service. After already waiting 15 minutes in line, my car was next for the drive-​thru window. The car in front of me paid and we sat and waited for 12 minutes– guess what they got, 2 shakes. I saw the waitress hand it to them and nothing else. After all that my fries were cold– I guess they had been setting there too long. Not cool.

Excellent food, but their booths are not made for us short people. I hate eating with the table so far away I have to reach and my feet dangling in the air off the floor. The wait staff is efficient and there when you need a refill. The dining area is kept clean and tidy.

I went here for lunch. The server was fast and attentive. Order the food and was ready real fast. The burger was very tasty and the shake was good too. Is Steak ‘N Shake so you know what to expect about the food if you have been to others Steak ‘N Shake. Service was good.

Decent burgers. Lots of choice on the menu. Good milkshakes. 24 hrs. It’s a good greasy sit-​down place for late night craving.

People, the hamburger paddies are so thin they have holes in them. I can see through the paddy.
Went there once through the drive in and ordered a shake, I left without my food after watching the person make the shake while picking his nose.

Eh, it’s a Steak n Shake. The food is super greasy, and the shakes are ginormous. The service is just ok (they really struggle when they are busy).
I love the Frisco Patty Melt, and the thin fries are always cooked right. I couldn’t eat here all the time, but if I’m in the mood for a giant shake and a greasy burger it’s a good option.

Not bad. I had a peppercorn hamburger. The diet coke tasted funny and my wife’s tea was «stale». But the food was definitely prepared as you’d expect from a grill… greasy.
I have to resist the urge to get the «Shake» half of the meal, however. The waitress was very nice and attentive.
If you want a burger it definitely beats McD or BK. Plus the atmosphere is a nice throwback to the 50s.

I’ve seen this place a few times and didn’t stop in because of the name. Lunch time and I’m not looking for a steak. But this is a burger place. And they make a damn tasty burger! I mean, juicy! Best burger I’ve had in a long time. it’s kind of got the 50’s diner look going on. The staff is busy and quick. Friendly, clean, fast. I thought it was great. Not bad prices either. And good fries. Yum!

I’ve eaten at Steak ‘N Shake restaurants all over the country, and frankly I don’t have much love for this one here in my own town. The food is typical of most locations of this franchise, but the service is atrocious… with attitude.
I suppsoe, according to a couple of local reviews on tis place, if you’re loaded at 2 AM it might be a good place to go, but my experience tells me that your standards are pretty low by then.

Open 24 — 7, Steak ‘N Shake gives Huntsville somewhere to go in the middle of the night besides Waffle House or IHOP.
Breakfast is served from midnight until 11:00 a.m. Burgers & Shakes, you can get any time.
This is actually located in the parking lot of Madison Square Mall next to Macaroni Grill.
