Pathways Unitarian Universalist Church

My family and I were visitors at this Unitarian Universalist church quite a few times last winter. I really enjoyed this place, and plan to make it our church home when my kids are older and able to sit for longer periods of time! I had no idea that there was a UU church in the midcities, and really had only heard of the big ones out in Arlington, Dallas and Fort Worth, but I was just not willing to make the drive each Sunday. So finding this cool, hip, hole in the wall, welcoming of all faiths and loving everyone church basically in my backyard was a huge treat!
The congregation is so so SO kind, ya’ll! I was really expecting there to be a younger crowd here, as the idea of UU is really a younger generational idea. But surprisingly the majority of the congregation was 50+ years. They were SO excited to see a young family with two children walk in. They had no problem when my baby got a bit fussy, and no problems when my toddler decided she should get up and shake her groove thing during one of the «hymns» (which by the way was: One Love by: Bob Marley).
The church is held in a small warehouse style building, but was under renovations when we visited. There is a room upstairs for their weekly Buddhist study, and a little foyer for coffee and cake before and after the service. The main preacher is a really sweet lady, who played with my toddler and helped her go up and down the stairs for a good 10 minutes one day after service so that I could get to know the congregation! This place takes lessons from every faith and combines them into one lesson, which really boils down to some sort of trying to be a good person and loving your neighbor.
