They have changed the store around lately. They have added a lot of new products for FPV, quadcopters, Helicopters.

Was so pleased that a friend referred me to roys staff was very kind and helpful I only wish I would have went there first before I bought a emaxx brushless for 709 and a erevo for 759 at a certain hobbytown store in hurst turns out Roys was 50 dollars cheaper on each car so I went to return both cars all they were willing to give me was store credit before you buy at least call Roys to price comparison

This is a Super place for reborn RC enthusiasts and especially fliers of RC nitro /gasoline engine models. They have a huge inventory including gasolene fuel which I had not heard of being sold at an RC Hobby store. The staff is very friendly and cooperative and ready to offer any information that is needed. I am looking forward to visiting here more often and moving forward with taking on larger projects as this store carries items that I would need or can order for sure and even get help from them for putting things together. Keep up the Great Work!

I am a new rc aircraft builder just starting work on my first ground up balsa model. The guys at Roy’s, who did not know me from Adam, were happy to answer my questions and offer suggestions about tools and techniques. I was a bit sheepish about demonsrtrating my considerable lack of skills in front of strangers, but the staff was happy to help me. They even suggested I bring in my progress to date to help me trouble shoot my issues. With help like that, I am happy to go back and willing to spend a buck or two more than I might have saved ordering something on line. I’d prefer to have the warm feeling knowing that places like Roy’s are still out there. Roy’s is also the only place I have found ParkFlyer Plastic modification kits on sale. I’d seen them on line but did not make up my mind to buy one until I saw it at Roy’s. The shop also has an offering of rc car parts — but I have no experience in that area and cannot comment accurately on what they have to offer. They also have an assortment of Estes rockets and a variety of plastic model kits. I used to make a lot of those in my youth — until my limited attention span got stuck on rc aircraft — and can report that their offerings are pretty diverse. Since there are fewer and fewer community hobby shops out there, I can say that their selection of plastic models is pretty good for what is out there now. Highly recommended especially if you are building or flying rc aircraft.

Although the service is great and the man that helped us was very friendly and informative, we weren’t all that pleased. We are big model-car builders and the selection in the plastic model-kit automobiles is very limited, diverse and they have absolutely no parts department, so if you need replacement parts for your model-kits, this is not the place to go. Also, while we were in the store, it strangely smelled of some kind of fish. That smell has always disgusted me and mixed with the 100 degree heat, it didn’t make for a good experience. They are also a tad bit pricey compared to what I am used to. The location is good, right off of BLVD26 in the Richland Hills area. Do not confuse this with North Richland Hills, as they are two completely different cities. Overall, we would probably come back here to look around, but we’ll stick with Hobby-town, Ebay and Craigslist for our models and their missing parts.

The owner is condecending and has no people skills. We have been shopping there for years and love the guys who work there. However, we will never shop there again. For a man who owns a toy store«Roy» sure has no tolerence for children playing with«hot wheel» type airplanes placed strategically at eye level to entice the children. Seeing how we have purchased nearly a dozen of the $ 3.00 wonders having 2 boys. I am quite frankly appauled by this man’s business sense, he has never even uttered a simple«hello» after all these years. Also, the items at this store are also grossly inflated. The only reason we shopped there for so many years was to help out & stimulate our local business which has now come to a screaching hault. My husband is a pilot for American and will be telling all of of his numerous friends and aquaintances not to shop there. Try Mike’s Hobby Store, Hobby Town, or online. Anything is better than this place. Have some respect for your loyal customers!

So the only reason this hobby shop doesn’t get a five star review is because I am a FIRM believer that if you are going to be a hobby shop, you have to cater not only to the rocket building-remote controlled airplane crowd, but also to the solid Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons playing crowd. While this store does the first, it does not do the second. However, it hits solid on supplying all the remote controlled, kite flying, model building goodness that a 12(or 50) year old boy could ever desire… (as a side note, however, rocket motors are cheaper at Michaels)
