I don’t know what was worse — the disgusting overwhelming SMELL of the room or the hair on the pillowcase proving that they don’t wash the linens between every customer… If you dare stay in this disgusting place at least do yourself a favor and bring clean sheets and tons of febreeze

This was a last-minute visit. I’d planned on us staying at Quality Inn because they have a better breakfast, but they didn’t have a two bed handicap accessible room available and Econo Lodge did. I am so glad we had to pick Econo Lodge. First, it’s located in a super-quiet part of town, but still easy to access the trendy downtown area on Mass. or the business on Iowa. Check in was easy and they were SOFRIENDLY. He offered to give restaurant suggestions – sometimes you don’t get that offered at higher-end restaurants. The room was in the back by their cute little pool. We had such a quiet place and the property has beautiful flowers and trees. The room could use some upgrades like flat screen tvs, newer carpet… but it had a COMFY chair and ottoman, the best pillows I’ve ever slept on, and the bathroom seemed really clean. We checked in early since it was a hot day and wanted to turn the A/C on so it would cool off while we ate dinner… but they had actually already turned it on for us before we got there, which is so nice… that doesn’t happen often. We had to actually adjust it because it was already SOCOOL in there it would have been too cool. Breakfast wasn’t much, but it was clean and comfortable: cereal, bananas, some sweet rolls, bagels, toast, yogurt, oatmeal. I appreciated the craisins to add to oatmeal… just some little extra touches like that make a big difference. Bacon would have been nice(lol).

Great place for the price. Clean, quiet, and very friendly owners/front desk worker. Free breakfast too! I’d definitely stay again for the price.

It’s a cheap hotel. What can I say. It did the job for me. Needed a bed and shower, check and check. The price was also right. My room was clean, only complaint is it’s one of those your room is outside hotels. So yeah it’s a little noisy but it still got the job done.

Smelly and ugly yes, but super comfy beds and nice pool. Combined with free breakfast, I think this place is fine and would definitely stay again.

Awful. Nasty. We walked in and the two girls at the front desk were drinking. Seems there was a party somewhere in the hotel and they were keeping the hotel staff off their backs by sending drinks to the front desk. I should have left at this point but didn’t. Next came the room. We booked a non-smoking room. We went to our room and as we walked the hallway I was stunned how dirty and truly disgusting the place is. The carpet in the halls had obvious water damage and was peeling up in places leaving patches of bare concrete exposed. The place reeked of mold. Until we opened the door to our room then we were hit with a wall of stale cigarette stink. Our non-smoking room smelled like a stale ashtray. I can not over state how strong the smoke smell was. It was so nasty we couldn’t stay in the room as we called around for a different room. Then comes the cherry on the top of this pile of fail. We go back to the front desk and inform the freshly refilled slurring front desk girls that we will not be staying in the hotel because we booked non-smoking and well that room isn’t non-smoking. We were assured they had no problem and though they had already run our card they removed it. Several days later what pops up on my card? Yeah, a full charge stay at the econo lodge. The manager who appearently is the only one authorized to speak to this is on vacation and I have to beef it with the credit card company. The laughable part is the truly great hotel we ended up staying at(Holiday Inn in Olathe which I highly recommend) is CHEAPER than this rat hole. If I could give this place zero or negative stars I would. Absolute worst experience I have ever had at any hotel.

I’ll give it 1 star based on price-it is the cheapest room in Lawrence. Just remember that you get what you pay for. My biggest complaint is that the room was guaranteed for late arrival and when we got there our room had been sold. It was a game weekend and rooms were hard to find at 11:00PM. Staff was not helpful at all-«sorry, no rooms, good luck.» No offer to make calls or suggestions. Judging by the line we weren’t the only ones stiffed. Again, for $ 65 I don’t expect wi-fi, jacuzzis, etc. I do expect my guarantee to be good and the room to be clean. Judging by the lobby and grounds I doubt the room was very clean anyway.
