View is nice from the balcony but that is all. Since it was our first time here, we asked other people around us for reccomendations. They all had nothing good to say about the food. We ordered beer and fried calamari. Beer was good. Calamari was bad. Left and went someplace else

Frozen pizza that was thrown in the oven with some toppings. Kids cheeseburger was a hit. Service was not great. Nice harbor view. I do not recommend this restaurant overall.

*Disclaimer… This review will not be pleasant, much like my experience here* My mother works down the road from this establishment, in an office, and I decided to treat her to lunch here since the location is beautiful right on Hyannis Harbor. We are locals and usually go to Tugboats around the corner, but like anyone like to try new places from time to time. What a mistake that was. We stepped inside the door and waited 5 – 6 minutes for someone to seat us, turns out the«hostess» was sitting in an alcove just beyond the entryway, on her phone texting/doing whatever, oblivious to anything. A server walked by us 4 times, yes 4 times(the kitchen was just to the left of the main doors), and barked at the hostess to seat us. Our«waitress» was actually very nice, but looked flustered probably due to lunch rush that happened before we got there. We didn’t get there until just after 2pm. We wait about 10 mins for her to take our order, a buffalo chicken sandwich, and a stuffed Quahog, nothing too crazy. I noticed about 5 tables in total on the deck where we were sitting and about 2 – 3 more inside that had people, most of whom were having drinks and/or finished eating. Maybe 2 tables were ordering or about to order food. After 20 mins we asked our«waitress» about how much longer on the food, as my Mom only had an hour for her lunch break. We are told«any minute it should be ready.» Finally after another 10 mins we ask for the food to go, and our waitress brings out my Mom’s Quahog on a plate, not boxed to go. The waitress grabs a box for her and we get the bill, proceed to get up and wait inside at the bar next to the entryway for my sandwich and settle the bill. My sandwich takes another 5 mins to «box up.» I finally peered into the kitchen and see there is only one man working back there, at a very lackadaisical pace. The«bartender» in the meantime says to my mother«you need to button that button on your shirt.» I kid you not, my mom was wearing a collared shirt over an undershirt(I’m not a fashionista if you couldn’t figure this out by my description), but nothing in the way she was dressed was inappropriate. She’s 60 years old for God’s sake and has worked in an office for decades. My mother, taken aback simply said«no thank you I’m ok,» to which the bartender simply shrugged and walked away. AREYOUSERIOUSDOCKSIDE!!! It took a lot of self control for me to say nothing and simply walk out with our food. How the hell is that ok for employees to talk to customers like that, ESPECIALLY in the service industry? My family collectively has over 50 years of experience working in the service industry(my mother was a waitress for 20 years before getting an office job), and never in my life have I had an experience like this in a restaurant. The final straw… as we exited the building in dismay, a waitstaff employee was smoking a cigarette right in front of the entrance, where potential customers are walking. If you want to have a smoke, by all means its your life, but do it behind the building out of sight from the customers, this isn’t rocket science folks. Holy smokes!(see what I did there). Once I saw her smoking I finally said«you have a very rude bartender in there who just insulting my 60 year old mother, it doesn’t bode well for a business that alienates the locals.» I tried my food in the car, the sandwich sucked, and the Quahog was smaller than a deck of cards, not worth it. The bacon on my sandwich was raw, the roll it was on couldn’t properly support a sandwich of its size, and it was absolutely murdered with blue cheese. My sandwich came with«fries» aka about 13 sweet potato fries that were very oily and unpleasant, much like my experience here. Cutting corners and trying to run a skeleton crew on a business that is in absolute prime location… not a good recipe for success. Hiring employees that aren’t properly trained for the service industry… worse recipe for success. Insulting your customer base… worst recipe for success. Never again Dockside, your management and proprietor should be ashamed of themselves. I won’t be surprised when this place doesn’t last. Tugboats, I’ll see you soon. (If you don’t believe my review, just look at some of the others that corroborate the horrible and slow service)

Service was poor. We had left 3 messages for reservations which their website said were accepted, but received no call back. When we arrived, we were then informed that they didn’t accept reservations-only to see a table marked«reserved!» Food was bland, lobster salad with no taste and served on a heated, stale roll. All portions on small side. Lettuce cups served without chicken advertised on menu. Way overpriced. We ordered 2 specials, only to be told — 10 minutes later — that they were out of one special, and in another 10 minutes, that they were out of the other. Main course took over an hour to be served, with waitress no where in sight. She consistently claimed they were«slammed,» when in fact only about 70% of the restaurant at any given time was full. Nice views-may be more appropriate for drinks. Although I was told they didn’t have any more limes-only to receive one later.

Fabulous service, terrible food and atmosphere(loud top 40’s hits). We ordered the crab cakes and they were totally over cooked. It looked like they had been deep fried as opposed to having a light golden brown look. They came w sad looking lettuce and were sprinkled with parmesan cheese??? The cheese was news to me. I took one bite and that was it. The waitress said maybe we could order something else and split the difference which we considered but when she came back to the table she said we would still have to pay for it. That was a pretty big turnoff for us so despite the beautiful view we paid and left.

Nothing special here, the food is mediocre to poor, the service is ok, but the view is nice. If you order a bottled beer, you’ll be ok, because you know what you’ll get.

We were very disappointed with our experience here. We came in for lunch and were one of 3 tables in the restaurant so there was no excuse for the customer service. Some examples of what happened: –It took about 20 minutes for our drink order to come to the table –Several of our food orders were not correct(ex: bringing a large lobster roll instead of regular size, bringing a large pizza instead of the regular size; putting added pizza toppings on a sandwich instead of the pizza) –Getting charged for all of the mistakes(large sizes, additional pizza toppings) –One of our waitresses visibly rolled her eyes at us several times –The worst part is that gratuity was included, but they calculated the gratuity on the price of food + the tax on the food. The extreme delay in our drinks and food arriving meant that we simply did not have time to complain to management about our experience. The food was fine, but not good enough to make up for the rest.

By far the worst experience. They were abusive, obscene and beyond confrontational. We attempted to have lunch and park our car, when 3 of the staff members began screaming and swearing at us. We paid for the parking and asked for a receipt. They cursed at us, got in our face, and screamed obscenities. Can’t imagine how they would treat people like this or stay in business. I was extremely scared and offended. Completely unacceptable way to treat people.

I really liked it here. The bartender was great and she had good suggestions. I got the clams and my sister got fish and chips. I was just disappointed that it was too cold to sit outside and that they closed so early. If i’m ever in this area again I will definitely go back.

We waited for 30 Minutes for someone to take our order. There were ants on the table. There were wasps flying around. The waitress kept complaining to us about the other wait staff and that they just opened. The food was decent and the bloody mary was basic. If you have another option if a place to eat I would suggest taking that option.

Not bad. Off the beaten path. Nice view! The staff was nice and very helpful. We ordered scallops(that never came), the garlic shrimp and a lobster pizza. The garlic shrimp were good and the pizza was overcooked but not bad. I’d go back.

Disgusting. The food was gross… we got raw chicken served to us… the service was awful — we asked for a manager and both the waiter and manager spoke broken English and were very rude. Hyannis used to be a great place — really gone downhill

Ok. The Dockside is one of those places that has an INCREDIBLELOCATION. It is VERYCASUAL with an informal dining room & big deck overlooking Hyannis Harbor. It is also one if those places that rests on it’s laurels because of that. So DONTEXPECTITTOBE A 5STARDININGEXPERIENCE. If you come here, do it for the VIEW&DRINKS. The food is good but not earth shattering. Also, best to stick with main stream menu items. If you venture out of that, you will likely be disappointed. Also, get your order to the waitron asap bc the service is pretty pokey. If u go when it’s packed, Go to the bar!!! Much faster service! ITDOESHAVEANAMAZJNGVIEW so sit back, relax, & enjoy it for just that reason!!!

DONOTGO! What a waste. The food was just okay. Service was horrible. No heat! It was freezing in there. Huge selection on the menu but no food available. It took me 7 tries to finally pick something they could make. Their pizza is frozen. They were«out» of Large pizza. Only had small left. Huh?! No straws. I was served my soda with a little stir straw. RIDICULOUS!!! The view is nice… but … not worth it.

What do we New Englanders expect of our fish & chips place? This place has a nice deck over looking fishing boats along the docks of the bay. The ocean breezes were just perfect which brought in the cool breezes that we want to keep us comfortable. Now, onto the food. For me,(displaced NE resident now living in Texas) I have to have fish & chips. Not that stuff they call fish & chips made out of Talapia. My fish choice is always haddock and then it goes to cod then scrod. The fried fish is a nice light golden batter of perfectly fried cod. The fries were crisp and hot and the cole slaw was creamy. My husband ordered the large lobster roll. He said it was delicious but let’s remember he is a Texan. It appeared to me to be a lot of mushy lobster with pieces of lobster in it. But, I didn’t taste it so he could be right. All I can say it gave me everything I could want for a lunch on the Cape.

Every year we come, and every year we get kicked in the teeth. 2 hours = 2 rounds of drinks and apps. No time for any meal here if you’re waiting for the ferry. Too bad. This place could be a goldmine.

After spotting Dockside in a local magazine, my boyfriend and I decided to try it out on our first trip to Hyanis. I honestly feel bad that I’m giving it such a low rating, but come on. You’re on the cape, on the dock. You should not, I repeat, SHOULDNOT be serving canned lobster in your sliders. And skimpy portions at that. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops to share — 5 tiny, tiny scallops on the plate. I ordered Lobster, Lobster which included slides and bisque. The bisque probably came out of a can, as did the lobster meat in my sliders. Again, small portions. My boyfriend’s fried scallops were good, it is hard to mess those up. The fries were super greasy though. Overall, I would not come here or recommend it. There are a ton of other restaurants on Main Street that I wish we had tried instead of this place. A one star review is rare from me, but this place doesn’t deserve more.

I don’t toss out one-star reviews very often. To be honest, I feel some remorse in giving tonight’s experience one-star. But the fact remains that our experience tonight was deplorable. Granted we learned that there were somewhat of an extenuating circumstance or three — a perfect storm of bad luck, food prep shortfalls, and staffing issues. A good restaurant would have the wherewithal to stem the tide and react favorably to the adversity. That was not the case tonight. Dinner started off so promising. The restaurant is situated on a hill overlooking Hyannis Harbor, and the view is beautiful. Arriving at 7:00, we were seated on the outside patio, and loved the view. Our server seemed oddly stressed and pre-occupied –not quite surly, but half-way there. We ordered a glass of Cabernet, and two of their $ 8 special cocktails– a Montego Bay Rum Punch and a Spiked Arnold Palmer. My son was asked to show his ID, and I didn’t think he was asked very nicely, nor was there a reaction when he «proved» to be of legal drinking age. No sooner had we placed our dinner order(lobster sliders and lobster chowder for $ 15.95) were we told that the kitchen had run out of lobster salad. This seemed to set the theme for the evening– the table next to us was told they had run out of onion soup, and the table behind us was told they had run out of filets. What was incredible, and nearly impossible to believe, was the would-be filet eaters ordered their steak a solid 30 minutes before the bad news came down the line. Rightfully so, they got up and left. We asked our server for some more time to rethink our order, since the lobster salad two of us wanted had run out. While we were choosing, we heard some loud voices arguing inside the kitchen –now mind you we were OUTSIDE and plainly heard the raised voices. When we ordered, our server didn’t seem familiar with the menu, and asked us to point on the menu for what we wanted, then she wrote the choice down. That seemed odd but not surprising because we could clearly see that this experience was going off the rails for sure. We ordered a cup of chowder, a Shrimp Lettuce Salad, a Scallop Roll, and a Pulled Pork Sandwich. We saw a new waitress appear at an adjacent table, she also seemed stressed, and we heard her plainly say«Sorry, I just got thrown into 5 tables». Fifteen minutes went by before the chowder arrived. I was surprised that it was served piping hot and had some big hunks of clams inside. But the chowder was delivered to the table oddly — no chitchat from the server, no comment on anything, just a basic drop and go. She was preoccupied and seemed rather upset. By now the patio was packed– every table was occupied. We waited 50 more minutes for the food to come out — I mean we didn’t order Peking Duck — we ordered a salad, some fried scallops on a roll, and a pulled pork sandwich –not exactly a challenging order. We knew something was wrong– but what really got us peeved was that there was no apologies or explanations, no «it will be just be a few more minutes», no «the kitchen is backed up», no «here’s a drink on the house». No nothing. A maniacal ringing of the bell in the restaurant signaled out food was ready and we were served. The server started talking to our table and an adjacent table about the problems that night–«the kitchen ran out of everything», «two cooks were out(a salad chef and the sautee chef), and there was only one cook on tonight», «the hostess went home», «Four parties of 8 came in», «we’re so short-handed the dishwasher is bussing tables and the bartender is waiting tables» She told the table next to us that she had just been crying in the back because of the stress. Well, that explains some of the train wreck. The food? Well my salad was very good — «fresh baby iceberg lettuce topped with shrimp, bean sprouts, red pepper, blue cheese, carrot, cucumber, tomato and red onions, served with garlic bread». It came with 5 good sized and well cooked shrimp. I ordered it with Russian Dressing, and of course it came with Blue Cheese Dressing. My wife’s scallop roll had just 4 scallops. My son reported that the pulled pork was«average». For all of this, plus the drama and horrendous service, our bill was $ 68 with nothing discounted. Maybe there was a Perfect Storm of bad luck tonight. Four big parties arriving simultaneously, many employees calling in sick, uncross-trained workers were forced to take on an unfamiliar role. But where on earth was the communication? Where was the«sorry the kitchen is backed up and we’re shorthanded, it will just be a little longer?» Where was the«have a drink on the house, we appreciate your patience?» Where were the smiles and personality and basic customer service? There was none. I’m sorry, but in Hyannis during the peak of the tourist season, this was a disgrace. Maybe there were extenuating circumstances, but the sinkhole that we drove into was made worse by the way the staff handled their advers
