Good food and lovely staff! Service is a bit slow on weekends since its overcrowded. Perfect for stopping by and grabbing a few drinks with a few friends during the summer.

I just love embargo. All of the bar tenders are awesome. Especially Jonathan, Marissa and lu. All of the workers are friendly and sociable. The food is great and the drinks are delicious. Best bar in Hyannis. Great entertainment.

Deceptive advertising! We ordered a variety of tapas, telling the waiter we wanted to get our order in before 6 to get the ½ off pricing. He never said that most of our order were exceptions to the ½ off pricing. See, it turns out that there is a teeny star next to the exceptions on the menu, and then even teenier small print at the bottom of the menu that tells you this. Our bill was HUGE, and unexpected. Included on our bill was a drink that someone had already paid for, along with the bills of 2 people sitting at the table next to us. I felt totally duped by the fine print and what seemed an effort to jack the bill up by including those other people’s orders. This is not how you treat local supporters in the off season. This is a really poor business model designed to dupe patrons, and leave them with a large bill, and a very bad aftertaste of an evening out.

Consistently delicious. Consistently great service year round. They take excellent care of you no matter a first timer or regular and no matter summer or in the dead of winter. Love tapas. Challenge to the chef… create a delicious gazpacho.

I am baffled by the positive reviews of this place. I can not think of a single redeaming quality of this establishment that would make me want to go back. Tried over six different tapas which were borderline inedible and our drinks tasted like processed sugay soar mix purchased from a grocery store. Our waitstaff was disinterested in us and only came over to take our order and hand us the check. Would not recommend.

This is one of my favorite places to go to while at the cape, we make sure that we stop in every time we are there. I’ve turned my closest friends onto tapas recently and we go out often. The only reason why I would give this place 4 stars instead of 5, they do not have a separate fryer for people who have a shellfish allergy. I am severely allergic. However the food is great, the sangria is to die for and the kicker, they have a great happy hours during the week. I have been there dozens of times, and I am not from the area. I’m from the NH border. Each time that I have been there the staff has been super attentive all but one time where it was a Friday night in the summer and the girl was training but even then, they worked as a team. Food was hot, the table was full and the atmosphere was fun and sophisticated. I wish there was an Embargo in my area. But, now I just have an excuse for a girls night!

Atmosphere was great. Service great. Place itself was great. But I think my coconut shrimp was frozen and it was not so jumbo as described. Flatbread was delicious. Tempura was a little heavy. And last but not least the hot legs. … ok but not great. Sitting outside was very cool. Jazz band was Jamin. Glad to see a nice tapas place in town esp with a really cool looking large bar area. Definitely will be going back.
3rd time here and I’m always impressed ! Our bartender Louise was AMAZING drinks were so so so good and he knew his stuff… he made our experience a perfect 10 .love this place !!! Food was good per usual ! Great night :)

3 stars for the«clubby» atmosphere inside and for its very non-Capey vibe, but man– that 5 star food makes it all alright. And they serve food late: NOT a common thing for the area!!! Yes, it’s the food that drags me here and hey– the outside tables make the atmosphere a non-issue! After ordering a solid bottle of red, I gorged on a delicious array of tapas! I pretty much wanted to try everything on the menu, but I held myself back and only ordered maybe an eighth of what was on there(it’s a big big menu!), but that just means plenty of excuses to come back, right? Fish was the name of the game here. I indulged mainly on fish. Mussels, Gambas al Ajillo(garlic shrimp), and Ahi Tuna sliders– oh my!!! We also feasted on the avocado wedges(holy crap, such a simple thing but WOW amazing!!!) and the lamb meatballs. Not one these dishes disappointed me. Yum yum YUM from start to finish. Go for the food and make your own atmosphere! That’s a win/win for this delightful Hyannis establishment that does stand out among all the other, more traditional places that surround it in(I think) ultimately a good way.

My boyfriend and I adore tapas restaurants. I do a lot of restaurant reviewing, so whenever we travel we scour the local restaurants listing to find a place to enjoy good food and a few coctails. It didn’t take long for us to decide on Embargo. They open at 3:30, then happy hour(which includes half price tapas) runs from 4 – 6. Our experience was as such: We arrived at 4:30 and stayed until 6. We each ordered a coctail: the«Elvis Lives» and a Classic Manhatten. The coctails were fantastic(and the menu was extensive). Then we ordered the Lamb Meatballs, the Bacon Wrapped Scallops, and the Lobster & Chouriso Stuffed Quahog. I was underwhlmed with the flavors offered in these dishes, which is an experience I don’t find often in food. I was alsovery put off by our waitress who was clearly annoyed with us. She stopped by our table at least a dozen times to offer my boyfriend another drink, which he decined after the first one and each time since then. We both already had coctails and we were about to drive over an hour home after being in the sun all day. We would have stayed and ordered more tapas except by that time we were both too uncomfortable as she seemed too annoyed that we were not ordering enough. Another point that I would bring up was that, athough we arrived in time for happy hour, we only recieved half price on one of the tapas we ordered. I thought that odd. When I went back on the website, I saw the disclaimer that says items marked with an asterisk are not applicable for half price on Tuesdays. We dined on a Wednesday and there was no such disclaimer on the printed menu because my boyfriend and I were scouring the print to find out exactly what the asterisks mean. After finding nothing to answer our question, we assumed that meant the food was spicy. My take on this place was that the food was okay, it’s a little cheaper than most of the restaurants in the area, the food is really not children friendly, the bar is exceptional, and the patio area is quite nice if it’s not scortching hot outside.

wasn’t extremely impressed with the menu, or the drinks which I have heard great things about. I tried the martini with the pop rocks rim which was beautiful, interesting and just not very good unfortunately. Great idea, not great execution. The service was great and the ambience is a mixture of fun and romantic which we really enjoyed. We came late night and were happy to find out that food is served until 11. we tried the pan seared scallop hot tapas, tree hugga sushi, and the frites. Scallops were the only one that I would get again and I highly recommend. From now on, I will probably just come for drinks and the atmosphere on Main Street.

I ordered the crab-cakes with mango sauce, which were very tasty. The olives and fresh bread were also lovely! I ordered a drink that had watermelon and cucumber infused vodka that was fantastic. Service was also excellent

Food is okay; there are way better places to eat in Hyannis. But it’s the only place with decent nightlife in the area. After hours they have a dj and push the tables to the sides. The bartenders/servers are pretty nice, but the crowd can occasionally get a bit on the creepy side with the assortment of vacationers. But it’s the closest thing to a club/lounge I have seen on this part of the Cape.

Great cocktails and a fantastic selection of tapas. Cape Cod is lucky to have acquired this gem. From the chicken and waffles to the steak-and-cheese egg rolls and the buffalo mac ‘n cheese — the culinary selection is mouth-watering. Wednesday nights are drag-a-licious karaōke with Dana Danzel and quite the fun time! The bartenders always seem to be on their game and ready to take care of you.

If you want to hang out with Gangsta’s listening to loud DJ music while putting your life at risk, this is the place. Not too long ago a guy pulled a gun on a woman at the bar. After 10pm the Gangsta’s take over, the bartenders and waitstaff are all getting hammered with the customer’s, so it’s all good! On the plus side, if you go early, the foods decent though expensive.

Are here with my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day– he very strategically chose this restaurant since he knows what type of food I love, and I was not disappointed. We walked in and it was all couples– almost comical but obviously normal considering the date. It is a tapas style restaurant, so be prepared to order several small dishes. The menu had an eclectic mix of sushi, Mexican and other new American dishes(the lobster mac n cheese is out of this world). The atmosphere was a fun, las vegasy kind of vibe, with very modern chic décor. The drinks were yummy– watch those martinis though! I can imagine this place fun to come to with groups.

I have been here 4 times this year and cant thing of anything negative. I see some negative comments but they seem to be mostly from tourists and late night bar clowns so I take no stock. 95% tapas and sushi with a few other entrees, all have been good so far. Huge bar with good barkeeps. Waitstaff really hustles and seems like they like working there. Cool, urban hipster vibe which really stands out on olde Cape Codde, a nice alt to the usual fish and chip saturation.

Lobster Mac and cheese is a winner! I am so glad I found the $ 15 for $ 30 deal on CapeCodDailyDeals! I feel like i would have never discovered this place otherwise. We arrived at 4:30pm when they opened because we are already in the area for another appointment. We ordered a pitcher of white wine sangrai for $ 30. There was a lot of ice in the pitcher but we did get 4 wine glasses of sangria out of the pitcher. There were grapes and peaches in the pitcher but due to the amount of ice, we couldnt really get to it. However, the sangria tasted amazing. The menu states that they use their ‘secret recipe’ and it was so good. Not sure how strong it was however. We started with the Lobster mac and cheese which isnt included in the happy hour menu but was the best thing we ordered. We almost ordered a second serving but wanted to try other things on the menu. It has a good amount of lobster and the cheese was very rich and delish. We also ordered the kobe beef sliders at $ 2 per slider during happy hour(4:30pm-6pm). These were good and cooked medium as we asked however they were cooked fast on the grill so the outside of the slider was a little too crisp while the inside was pink. Also, the meat was a little too round/thick for the bread it was on so he had a hard time keeping the slider together while we ate it but it was good and I would order it again. My boyfriend got half a dozen oysters as they are also half priced for HH. Lastly we decided on the churrasco style sirloin with chimichuri sauce. This was very dry and the chimichuri sauce was not good.(I usually love chimichuri sauce). We took the steak home for steak and eggs because it was too dry to eat. The waitress was great and the food came out in a timely manner. I wish this place was closer to me but even though it is not, I will be visiting very often. With the happy hour prices, how nice the restaurant is inside, and the tastey sangria, I will definitely frequent this restaurant!
