This review is LONG overdue! Spice 6 is so good, a simple review does not do this place justice! I drive about 20minutes from my home, at least twice a week to get this amazing indian food. I always get the kaboob entrée, with chickpea, basmati rice and side salad Everything about this place is excellent. The food is quick, the service is good, the pricing is reasonable and the place is CLEAN! I cannot stress that enough, Spice 6 is extremely clean. Spice 6 is just great!

This place is the Chipotle of Indian Food, and I don’t mean that in a disparaging way. For what is essentially fast food, the taste is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. It is slightly on the expensive side,(I would have put it in the $$ category, not the $ category), but only slightly more and the quality of food is evident. I would defintely recommend a visit if you have limited time but want something other than a burger and fries. Two thumbs up! Er, I mean, 5 stars!

This is my first time to Spice 6 restaurant and the food is excellent! Like most reviewers have said, the restaurant follows a style similar to Chipotle. I got a chicken rice bowl with naan bread on the side. The bread was freshly made with the right amount of crisp to it. The sauces I added to the bowl were not overly spicy. I will definitely visit again.

Love this place. Especially when I catch the naan hot outta the oven. The food is fresh Indian fare and you get to choose specifically what goes into your plate. Kinda like the Indian version of Cava(was gonna say Chipotle… but I digress.) The service is pleasant and it’s a nice quiet place to have a casual healthy meal with friends.

My boyfriend and I were really craving indian food and Spice 6 definitely satisfied our craving! It’s equivalent to chipotle but its indian food. You can make tons of meals in whatever variation you want. We had the naan pizza, chaat paper, and lamb rice bowl and it was very tasty! Oh and my boyfriend LOVED the Taj Mahal Premium Beer imported from India!

I first was introduced to Spice 6 at a Unilocal event a couple of years ago, and I remembered that the representatives were from the DT Hyattsville location. A casual Indian restaurant owned by Chef Upendra Thapaliya, this eatery offers rice bowls, naan wraps, naan pizzas, kabob entrees, salads, and sides(such as samosa chaat, mixed chaat, naan, and gulab jamun). I loved that this was a family-owned, mom-and-pop restaurant that offers organic, modern Indian fare at reasonable prices. The idea is clever, which is build-your-own — I had the opportunity to try out a rice bowl(you can choose between basmati or brown; I opted for basmati), with your choice of chick peas, then adding another layer of your choice of protein(tofu, lamb, chicken, veggies, or paneer — I opted for the chicken, which was marinated with homemade yogurt, ginger garlic paste, spices, and fresh lime — this was super juicy and flavorful, and had a nice kick to it), then choosing a choice of curry(tikka masala, kadai masala, korma masala, or spinach masala — I had the tikka masala, which is a tomato purée with ginger garlic paste, fenugreek leaves, cashew nuts, butter fresh cream, and spices), and a finale, a dollop of one of their chutneys(sweet, mild, spicy, or raita; I opted for the mild, which was a red tomato chutney made with tomato, ginger garlic paste, sesame seeds, and spices — this was super addicting, creamy, and added a wonderful layer to the overall rice bowl). The food was fresh, and the staff were pleasant and super friendly. I can’t wait to try out their naan pizzas and their wraps: D +build-your-own casual, organic Indian rice bowls, wraps, and pizzas +mild chutney! :D +friendly staff

This is a long overdue review. I am a Spice 6 regular(get to-go dinner there once or twice a week at least), and I enjoy that it is consistently delicious, relatively healthy, and very fast. I order the same thing every time: the tofu kabob platter with basmati rice and spinach masala, chickpea, naan and salad sides(spicy green chutney on the salad, large cup of raita on the side). Sometimes it’s two of those, when my bf joins me, and occasionally we get crazy and order a mixed chaat with all the fixings(highly recommend) and/or a mango lassi. I’m usually one for variety, but in this case why mess with what works?! I rarely eat tofu otherwise and am not even a vegetarian, but theirs is special. Many of the regular staff have gotten to know us by name and are always welcoming and friendly. I also enjoy the convenience of, and occasional discounts from, paying with the Spice 6 app. My only gripe is the parking(which they know, from the strongly worded email I sent to the owners). I know it’s not their fault… the developers overbuilt residences and retail without much parking forethought… and I understand a parking garage is coming at some point. Meanwhile it’s a huge source of frustration. The tow trucks are aggressive, and if after two loops around I don’t find a spot, I just give up and drive up Baltimore Ave to Shagga Ethiopian restaurant, another fav, which usually has avail parking. I told Spice 6 that if the parking gets worse they’ll lose my business, at least until the garage is up… and that’s a real shame as I’d love to continue supporting them and other nearby small businesses… e.g., Big Bad Woof and Yes Organic Market. Hope enough people complain to the developers that the parking situation will improve in the near future. Meanwhile I’ll continue braving it for that Spice 6 goodness. I’m delighted they were able to open a new location near the Dunn Loring metro and wish them all the best in their growth!

This place has some great flavours. The selection is a bit limited but the serving sizes are big. The salad was fresh. The chicken served with the platter had a great taste. The paneer is cubed and unfortunately cold. Could be better served warm. Naan bread was mediocre. Service was nice, they gave us extra sauce. Clean and cool design. It hit the spot! Enough for lunch leftovers..

My cousin brought me here tonight(1÷6÷16). She told me that a friend of hers introduced her to the restaurant. The atmosphere of the establishment is nice and it has the modern Indian theme. My cousin ordered the naan wrap with chicken, tikka masala sauce and veggies and I ordered the naan pizza with tikka masala sauce, chicken, cheese, tomato and red onions. Although my cousin’s naan wrap looked good, I enjoyed my pizza so much that I had to take home the last 2 slices of my pizza. Even though this was my first visit here, I will be coming back again and possibly order the naan wrap next time.

I usually do not have time to write review(as I’m very busy), but this restaurant was soooo fantastic, I had to write one. I had the Chkn/lamb rice bowl and it was awesome. Loved every bit of it. I also added a Chkn kabab on the side. Very very good. This is just like chipotle bowl but with Indian food. I had Gulab jamun too which was freshly made. The highlight of my trip was how nice and polite the owner/manager was. He seemed like an Vietnamese/philipino young guy. Super polite. Gave us free dessert. Came to talk to us, thanked us personally for choosing spice 6 etc. Even if the food sucked here, which it didn’t, I’d still visit this place Bc of how nice the owner/manager were. Very good experience after being hungry after a 4 hour trip.

Remember from my visit 2 or 3 years ago. Loved the food. Other reviews are spot on in terms of the food being good, tasteful but not necessarily very authentic. Service and ambience was good too.

Great dishes. My husband got both lamb and chicken in his wrap, i recommend you don’t do this. They offer the option of half and half like Chipotle… Don’t go overboard you’ll end up stuffing yourself and unable to really enjoy the full flavors.

Spice 6 — like other Unilocalers have said — is a lot like Chipotle. Where you walk up to the counter the menu is hanging above, you can see all your choices lined up behind the glass and watch them assemble your meal. Your meal is can be made with Naan bread as a wrap or pizza. There is a salad and a bowl option. I usually go with the pizza or wrap. Then you decide on the type of rice: basmati or brown. I go basmati it is super flavorful with cumin and maybe fennel? Then you pick a protein: chicken, lamb, tofu, veggies and paeer which is an Indian cheese. I go chicken. Super flavorful and cooked well. Tender and juicy. Then you get to pick a curry, think of it as your Chipotle salsa. This is where most of your flavor in the meal comes from. Pick wisely ;-) Tikkia is my go to. Familiar and mild. They also have a spinach and that’s the only one without nuts incase you have an allergy. Then your last step in this process is a chutney. Sweet, mild, spicy and a yogurt one. I am not really a sweet person and I think the sweet is too sweet so I get mild. There is also a toppings section: cheese, cilantro and peppers. I usually ask for extra cheese on the pizza option as they usually are pretty light with their cheese. And then you get your meal on a cute little golden tray. Or they bring the pizza out to you once they cook it. You can also see where they make the Naan bread which is pretty cool. The staff is super friendly, the place is clean and well organized. They also sell beer. A spot to return for sure!

This place is AMAZING! It’s the best place to go get your quick fix of Indian Cuisine where you get quality ingredients and decent portions for a great price!!! The set up of the place is «Chipotle» style where you pick they style of entrée you want to have, then type of rice, meat, toppings and chutney. I came here with my boyfriend and we decided to get a Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza, Paneer Spinach Masala Naan Wrap, Chicken Kudai Masala Rice bowl, Mango Lassi and Rose Lassi. First thing I loved about this place is that they make their naan fresh from the oven!!! Everything was DELICIOUS! All the ingredients were fresh, the rice was perfectly cooked and the meat and paneer were seasoned and cooked to perfection! Their naan pizza is out of this world! We loved how we had so many choices to choose from! My boyfriend is huge on sauces, and they did not hesitate to let him try everything. The mango and rose lassi were very tasty and refreshing! I personally liked the rose lassi the best but you can get a mixed lassi where its a combination of mango and rose flavor. They also have almond, pistachio, mango and yogurt Kulfi, but they sold out of all of them because the Kulfi there is so popular! The people working there were very nice and helpful! They greeted us with a smile and helped us along the way when choosing toppings on our meals. Since we are from the Virginia area, I believe the manager or owner informed us that they are opening another location in Vienna and invited my boyfriend and I to their grand opening. I cant wait till that location opens up because I will defiantly be driving out there for their food! YESYESYESTOSPICE6MODERNINDIAN!

This place is absolutely amazing. I’m Bengali so I’m very particular when it comes to South Asian cuisine. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that it was set up similarly to Chipotle in terms of how food was placed on a prep line. I’ve never seen any South Asian restaurant do this, and it made me feel quite skeptical about the quality of the food. Boy was a I wrong. Not only was my meal ready in just a minute or two like Chipotle, it was DELICIOUS. Honestly it tasted better than some of the Indian restaurants where I would have to wait 15 – 20 minutes at minimum for an entrée that would cost upwards of $ 10-$ 15+ This place is not only cheaper, but the quality of food is superb. I ordered a rice bowl with lamb and got chick peas, chutney, along with various vegetables. You have many options for sauces and other things. I will choose Spice 6 Modern Indian over Chipotle any day.

Pros: inexpensive(relatively speaking) — large chicken tikka masala naan wrap for $ 7.50 with flavorful chicken and you can add as many toppings as you want. Love love that my garlic naan was fresh outta the oven and it was very filling. Cons: not spicy enough for me! :(even with the spicy cilantro sauce which really wasn’t spicy at all. Next time I’ll just bring my own sriracha! I would definitely come here again for a quick, tasty and filling meal. In the same area as busboy and poets and there is 30 min parking out front.

Essentially a Chipotle for modern Indian food. Not as spicy as I would’ve liked, and a little overpriced, though. Food was decent tasting and flavorful, but nothing remarkable. Ordered a bowl 4⁄5 — chicken was well seasoned. Bowl ingredients were made fresh. Not much else stuck out to me. Garlic naan 3⁄5 — not worth it. Wasn’t fresh out the oven and barely seasoned with a hint of garlic Environment was nice and modern. Location is in the developing parts of Hyattsville, and is a nice addition to its shopping/eating center

Who woulda thunk that a build-your-own Indian place could be so amazing! I came here for the first time over a year ago and now I come here at least twice a month. You can do your choice of pizza, burrito, bowl, salad or kabob entrée. And then for your protein there is chicken, lamb, tofu, veggie, or paneer. Then you just go down the line and choose other toppings like rice, chick peas, cheese, cilantro, peppers, etc. and your chutneys and curries. I usually get the bowl with chicken all the toppings and the spicy green chutney and tamarind chutney and the tikka masala curry. But seriously, anything you get on the menu is bound to be good. They also serve beers, sodas, juices, and of course mango lassis. If you’re up for dessert try the gulab jamun, which is fried sweet doughy balls drenched in this sweet syrup. The service here is also really good. Everyone behind the counter is super friendly and they let you sample the different curries/chutneys in case you’re unsure. And if you dine in they usually will come around and ask you how you’re doing. The décor is also chic and cute, which makes it a great spot for lunch or dinner.

The last time I ate spice 6, I was at a Unilocal event about a year ago and I still remember the name of this restaurant to this day. It had made a solid impression on me with their naan pizza– an interesting twist of indian curry spices infused with pizza topping and cheese. Surprisingly, this combination works remarkably well: the flavorful Indian spices and the curry sauce base blends harmoniously with cheese and your standard pizza toppings such as onion, green pepper. Spice 6 is similar to &pizza. This is how the process works. Step 1: choose a base: rice, naan wrap, naan pizza, kabob entrée, or salad(highly recommend the pizza) Step 2: choose a protein(chicken, lamb, tofu, veggie, paneer) Step 3: Choose a curry(tikka, kadai, korma, spinach masala) Step 4: choose a chutney(spicy green, sweet tamarind, red tomato, raijta) Step 5: Extras(Chaat, patri, etc) There isn’t an overwhelming number of options but it may be confusing to some as to what to choose because even if you are familiar with the ingredients, you won’t know for certain what would work in combination. My advice: once you decide on the meat, let the person behind the counter decide the sauces for you. I chose the LAMB meat with KADAI masala for my curry base and SPICYGREEN chutney. Overall, my impressions are as solid as the time I first time I tried Spice 6. The food is great, the service is top notch, and they use great ingredients for what they charge. If I had to offer 1 suggestion to this business, it’s to have ketchup, hot sauce, and perhaps Sriracha sauce available. Adding a bit of a kick of spices works wonders(I took my pizza home and tried this and it tastes fantastic).
