Age tofu, vegetable gyoza, out of control roll, red dragon roll… All outstanding! Definitely one of the better sushi offerings I’ve been to in the city.

A favorite of mine & others I know! The place & really cool & the service is great. We usually go w/the same group every couple of months & get the sushi boat(for 4… but there are 6 of us and that’s plenty of food!) It’s always fresh & delicious! It’s the freshest & most delicious sushi place I’ve eaten at(and I’ve had my fair share).

One of my favourite places in the area! I have been there many times over the past 5 years, and they are consistently delicious! I generally go with the Terayaki Steak on a bed of caramelized onions or the delicious Tonkust(pork cutlet). For a starter, you must try the Eggplant Misoyaki, which is fantastic. I’m also a huge fan of their spicy tuna roll, and have never been disappointed by their sushi. The atmosphere is quite calm and relaxing, and a great place to recharge after a long day. Before graduating from college, I’d go here to break up my long days of classes, and be recharged for my evening classes. Their miso soup and tea would calm me down, and my biggest stress is choosing between their two delicious salad dressings! The restaurant is in Hyde Park’s historic Stoughtenberg House, which adds a nice surrounding without being pretentious. Friendly, attentative staff. For a full, satisfying meal, with extras, it’s easy to spend no more than $ 17 – 25 per person. I constantly recommend this place to friends, especially in the quest for some of the area’s best sushi. Several of my friends have used this spot for first dates, much to their success!

Below average sushi restaurant. the rolls kept falling apart and the tuna was not fresh. ambiance was very old. need to renovate or add some colors to provide a better dining experience

The food was just alright, but the servie from the waitress was great. however the chef was terrible. I have eaten Sushi all over the the world and have never had a chef say no to making a roll or doing what he thinks is best. maybe that is why the food was boring and lacked favor and lacked the whole Sushi experience.

The only thing I didn’t like about this place is that there was only one fish in the decorative fish tank in the entrance. Maybe it’s just my overactive imagination, but I hoped it wasn’t that they had ran out of fish in the kitchen one night… On my first(and only to date) visit, I had the spider roll, which is as tasty as disturbingly difficult to eat, what with the legs coming out of the roll in all directions. Had I seen a picture first, I might have chosen something more… mouth sized. But then I would have also missed out on the delightful flavor of the thing. Edamame is top notch. Beer selection is more than adequate. I will go again, especially if my friend agrees to pay like last time. Nice to know there’s a quality sushi joint in the hood. I hope they get more fish for the tank soon.

I’m not gonna lie. When this place first opened(late 90s) I didn’t like it too much. The miso soup was quite bland and the spider roll scared me to the point when I thought it was gonna walk of my plate. Funny how 10 years change things… My wife and I got take out so we could go to the Hyde Park Drive In and we were greatly surprised! WOW is all I can say at this point. Their spicy roll maki combo dinner is on point. You get spicy tuna, spicy yellow-tail & a spicy shrimp tempura roll. DAMN!!! I was going to give Edo’s a really bad review but I personally felt that I needed to give them a try again… when I came here the first time, I was just STARTED to eat sushi and I was bouncing around to ANY sushi joint, trying to find that special one… I had to return here especially since I haven’t been there in almost 6+ years. There aren’t many quality Japanese restaurants in the upper Hudson Valley… As I’m sitting here in my Sadako T-Shirt, I need Edos right now… mmm.

Don’t judge a restaurant by its looks(or its location)! The best sushi I’ve had in the area, and I’ve tried at least five different restaurants, including two in nearby(posh) Rhinebeck, NY, and nothing beats Edo’s. Recommended: Spicy Tuna Martini appetizer(for two), Eel dragon roll

I’d like to think that I am fairly experienced when it comes to sushi, but also easy to please. I lived in Japan for nearly a year, but rarely ate sushi anywhere but cheapo conveyor-belt sushi(kaitenzushi) joints. Edo is right down the street from where I live, and probably my favorite place to go to — they have a good sushi selection(and yes, the Edo Roll is ridiculous), and they have huge cans of one of my favorite Japanese beers, Asahi Super Dry. I completely understand some people’s concern with the size and acoustics of the dining room — it can be a little crowded, and if there are only a couple of tables filled, everyone is going to hear everyone else’s conversations. Not a big deal, but it’s the one area that could stand improvement. Edo is solid, consistent, well-priced, and fun. You should definitely check it out.

Having been raised on sushi, on both coasts, i have to say that i enjoy edo for the range of tastes as well as quality of the product the make. if your in the mood the edo roll is a great choose. Not to forget the sake and the tuna martini app. oh my what a treat.

Be sure to read to the end of my review where I describe the«Edo Roll». Edo was my favorite place to go for sushi in the area. The small new england style home is warm and inviting and the staff is very welcoming. If you can, grab one of the 2 tables in the sushi bar area, especially if they have a fire going in the winter. The furnishings in the two main dining areas aren’t much to look at, but that’s not a big deal to me. I would usually start out with the gyoza or edamame and both were good(of the two, I think the edamame was a little better). I was always tempted to order one of their dinners(bulgogi perhaps) but had the sushi every time. In general the sushi is very fresh, well prepared and presented nicely. But the«Edo Roll»… OMG! A stunning creation I crave to this day. I realize it is probably an abomination in the eyes of a sushi purist, but here it is: «Tuna, Salmon, White Fish, Yellowtail, Eel, Deep Fried with Spicy Sauce, Tobiko and Scallion outside». Yes, all of those, in one GIANT roll. Its at least as big around as a silver dollar — but don’t try to bite into it. Its sliced thin enough for you to(barely) cram the whole thing into your mouth. It really is a flavor explosion — first comes the deep fry crisp(just a little), then a hint of the sauce and rice and then those distinct fresh fishes. Wow. Like nothing I have ever eaten. It costs $ 10 but is sooooo worth it. For edamame($ 3), some a la carte pieces($ 4 — 5), and an edo roll($ 10), I would be very full and very happy for $ 20 to $ 30.

I think this is the oldest house in Hyde Park, and they converted it into a sushi place. Well, whatever. It’s a small stone house, and they manage to fit like 10 tables into what was probably the old living room. You’re rubbing up against people at the next table, and you can hear every conversation perfectly, which can make one a bit uncomfortable. The fish is room temperature, and the chef will basically give you whatever he feels like slicing up. An all fish egg plate? Here you go! But seriously, folks, it’s not that bad.
