Hands down, the best ice cream in town. I have always had good service.

Hard to believe a neighborhood bowling alley still exists. Im a sucker for candlepins so anytime im back in town, even modest lanes are more than ok by me. Could have used some suds but we all thought the ice cream was great. Even had bumpers for the kids and wife(kicked their butt anyway). Passed the place probably 1000 times in younger days but never thought to stop. Should have done it years ago.

One night a few friends and I went out to find a place to bowl. We hit up all the major alleys in the area, but they were completely full. After nearly losing hope, we stumbled upon Ron’s. Though we didn’t try the ice cream, we had a delightful experience bowling and couldn’t believe the place was so empty on a Saturday night. The prices are good, the staff is nice, and the atmosphere is fun. We’ll definitely be going back to Ron’s.

To me Ron’s is an ice cream parlor. Never bowled here, never eaten the food. The ice cream is the absolute best I have /ever/tasted in all my days. Im not quite sure how they do it but it truly is indescribably good ice cream. Every flavor I have tried has blown my mind. The ice cream is about the same price as Ben and Jerry’s we pack up a quart every few weeks for the house. Love having them in the neighborhood. Kind of a blast from the past inside but dont miss out on the ice cream.

This review has nothing to do with the actual ice cream and more to do with how the owner treats his staff, I waited for 10mins and while I waited I listened to the owner talking so poorly to the young people working for him. The fact that he treated them as if they were incompetent and wouldn’t allow them to try to serve the ice cream without him watching over there every move was sickening. The fact that he felt so comfortable scolding them in front of the customers made the experience 10 times worst. The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because the ice cream is pretty good but I almost wanted to tell the kids to quit as I was leaving. Nobody deserves to be talked to like that. I felt so bad when the boy apologized to me as of he did something to deserve to be spoken to that way.

I came last Saturday to the shop as I sometimes frequent in the summer. My friend had picked up a quick item to snack on from a store down the street and we came in. It took some time to browse(I take my time looking at the ice cream list). The owner must have assumed we were ‘loitering’? Even though I was looking at the menu and was ready to order. He gave my friend this talk about not bringing food from other establishments and not to do it again. My friend asked him if he wanted her to leave(as again this seemed ridiculous – how he approached her as if she committed a murder). All of a sudden he ‘lightened up’ and said no you can stay, so then what was your point? If it was that huge of a deal he ‘should’ have told her to leave. And the sad part is that does it really hurt you to see local folks supporting a local business other than your own? This is the type of behavior that exudes greed to me and highlights his assumption that we were going to an establishment just to sit around and not FINANCIALLY support him. This left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I had went to get ice cream as it was my birthday date with my friend. Ron, get it together. This is the 1st time I saw him and the 1st time I had a bad experience here. As an owner this is not a good look for you.

We come here just for the ice cream. It’s very good! I can’t recommend the food it doesn’t look good either. I have never bowled it’s pretty standard candle pin. Looks like of Ron likes you then no bowling shoes. I’m not a fan of the owner it’s sad that such a great product is sold by such an asshat. His son is a dope too. Well I’ll just get the ice cream and run.

Coffee madness is amazing! I love Ron’s. It’s like going back in time to Happy Days. I want to try all the flavors. The ice cream is so creamy, and the ingredients are top quality in this unassuming bowling alley.

If you are an ice cream buff Ron’s is the best hands down. The flavors are intense and the ingredients fresh. It would be hard to pick a favorite but if you like coffee be sure to try Coffee Madness, Kalua Chip and Irish Coffee all different, all great. The setting is genuine — not glamorous or pretentious. This is a place you come for the ice cream. Ron’s is a real Boston experience– I always laugh at the Boston Magazine review of top ice cream shops and their rave review of shops with flavors like Adzuki bean. Fresh rose. Herbal chai. Cut to the chase and try real a genuine Boston ice cream shop.

I used to work right by Ron’s and had some great experiences there. I love bowling and though I prefer regular bowling– not candle pin– Ron’s is still fun! It’s a really good place to go with a group. The only other place I’ve done candle pin bowling is at Flatbread in Davis Square in somerville, and I much prefer Ron’s.(Flatbread takes themselves too seriously). There are also some video games for people who don’t like to bowl but need to be entertained. Most importantly, the ice cream is so good. I’ve never tried anything besides the banana and the coffee Oreo because both were just too good to ever try something else. Ron and everyone else who work here are really sweet guys and I’ve had some good conversations with them. I liked talking with Ron in particular about Hyde Park and Boston history.

This place is alright, but nothing too spectacular. It’s a great place to bring the kids to bowl and kill some time. The ice cream is delicious too. I did not order any food, so I cannot comment on it. The employees are usually friendly, but the owner, Ron, is a jerk. One time when I took my son there, he was in all of our business, pretty much micromanaging us and telling us we can’t do anything. It made us feel really uncomfortable and not«welcomed» at all.

I went there recently to bowl with my kids and it was too stressful — not sure if I’ll return. They kept telling us the kids couldn’t do this or that and honestly, it made me anxious. This is not a place you can relax and have fun, unfortunately.

My favorite thing about Ron’s is the fact that to get there from my house you have to drive through Stony Brook reservation and along the river. It’s a pretty drive and takes me through a part of Boston I don’t get to see very much. That aside, though, Ron’s is also a fine place for a reasonably priced cup of ice cream. They get points in my book for having several varieties of coffee flavors(the Irish Coffee is particularly good).

Ah… Ron’s ice cream! What can I say that hasn’t been said. Nostalgia fills you when you step into this hidden gem! The ice cream is some of the best I’ve ever had. Their location right by the police station makes you glad to be safe and that no one will mug you for your ice cream. The only bad part is that costumer service is hit or miss there. And when it’s a miss… You just feel like having a fit and throwing the ice cream cone down the bowling alley. Side not… These guys could really use some modernizing of those bowling alleys. The 80’s want their atmosphere back!

I would give Ron’s a good review, because their ice-cream does beat others out. But… the rudeness is unforgivable as far as I’m concerned. I walked in one day and ordered a child sized cone, i was asked«who is this ice cream for?» being caught off guard, I answered truthfully«it’s for me». I was then told I couldn’t order a child cone because I’m not a child. What kind of crap is that? I didn’t fell like a small, med, or large serving of icecream at that moment. I wanted a child size and thats it. I even tried to change the story and say my child was in the car, no way. If they didn’t see a «child» I wasn’t getting a child cone. It’s my right to purchase any sized anything on this planet, who are they to dictate to me? small, med, large, child size, or super sized. Ron can keep his icecream. After that I went to McDonalds and ordered a happy meal. No one asked me if it was for me, my kid, my dog, or anyone. I wanted it and I got it. No questions asked. Ron’s needs lessons in customer service
