Marcellar’s Vintage Wines and Brews

This is the best beer selection I have found in Idaho Falls. They have a large selection of micro brews –especially Idaho beers. I only gave them 4 stars due to the small selection of English ales; although, they can special order quite a few by request. I like this place and the atmosphere. The have a few beers on tap in the back, and it’s a great place to sit down and try something new. I only wish they sold cigars.

It would be 5 stars for the beer selection, but sometimes the IPAs are old and should’ve been pulled. I purchased two Stone RuinTen bombers that were well over 6 months old and lacking the hops I craved. They gave me credit for the one unopened but not the pithy and pathetic shadow of a hop that I’d expected. Check the bottle dates and you’ll have a 5 star experience.

This was previously my favorite bar in town. Today I was told that it is no longer vapor friendly due to the owner’s personal opinions and hear say. When I asked why, I was told that if someone can smoke a cigarette outside they can smoke a vaporizer outside.
1. You do not «smoke» a vaporizer. There is not any smoke emitted, only water vapor which vanishes within 30 seconds.
2. I quit smoking partially because I didn’t want to go freeze my butt off just for nicotine. Unfortunately, it is an addiction and I would love to let go of it, but it is very difficult to do. I would much rather puff on something that does not emit carcinogens and does no harm to those around me inside than walk through the cloud of smoke that is outside.
When I asked I was told that many establishments in town are no longer vapor friendly. I pointed out that none of those places are bars, and was told that Mar Cellar’s is not a bar (as I was sitting at the bar drinking a beer).
So end of story, while I do love the staff and the selection and prices, if you use a vaporizer, I suggest going somewhere else. You will get pretty good service at Vino Rosso around the corner and comparable prices, and you will be able to vape without being judged.

Great wine and beer shop. Whether you are looking for something to take with you or a great beverage to enjoy there you can’t go wrong. From the first time you walk in, you will feel like you are at home. Very friendly staff and a great place to enjoy a drink.

This is a fun place to relax and unwind after work. It is also a great location in downtown I.F. You can’t leave without browsing their selection of wine and beer.

Wonderful «hole in the wall» locale to possibly find an old favorite or discover a pleasant new surprise. Offering only wine and beer. Has great selections of beer on rotating taps, but Guinness is always on tap. You’ll understand why they close down early when you walk in. They can’t afford to have clumsy late night drunks stumbling from the bar to the front door as the walls are lined on one side with racks of wine and refrigerated and room temp cases of beer on the opposite wall. Prost!

Of the two wine bars downtown, they definitely have better prices and friendlier employees. The staff is always helpful and informative, without being snobby. My only critique is that they close too early!
