Going to the drive-in always makes me feel like a kid again. This place is a great trip down memory lane.

We went to the sister theater Motor Vu. It was alright not as nice as some I’ve been to. I can understand trying to run a business but for $ 7 a person even for two movies Id rather go to a regular theater. And most of the combinations I’ve seen leading up to our visit were really strange too, Ice Age and Magic Mike? What a pair! And my husband was quite perplexed when he went to PAY for a refill on his soda. «Its against health code» is what they replied. If that was the case Im pretty sure every fast food chain in the state would be shut down. And we were not about to pay another $ 3 for a medium soda even with the three of us. Call us cheap and them trying to make money but for the disregard to public knowledge it wasn’t worth it. I mean come on were not stupid dont try to bull us. The overall family vote is that we would rather go pay to see something we really want to rather than seeing one film thats good and leaving the other one unwatched for the sake of our childs innocence.

So we were driving thru Idaho recently, and we had stopped in Idaho Falls to see the town. We were planning to stay in Pocatello as we were headed back south and that was 50 more miles closer to the next day’s adventures. So after a nice walk along the Greenbelt, a great dinner at Whitewater grill, we were headed back to the freeway when my husband spotted the Sky-Vu and what jumped out at him was that there were current titles on the sign. So naturally we had to turn around and investigate. The place looked deserted but had Toy Story 3 and a phone number on the sign… so we called, and duh, of course it was deserted because it was still light out! The movie doesn’t start until it gets dark! So what to do? We managed to secure a room for the night at the Fairfield and cancel our room in Pocatello w/o sacrificing the points, so we quick checked in and got all the kids washed and ready for bed and jumped back in the car. We were not terribly early but it was a Tuesday night so pretty easy to get a nice spot. I don’t remember exactly the cost, I think it was per head though and not per car, but it was still pretty reasonable compared to any other theater. As for sound, you can listen to the movie on your car radio, but my husband and one kid wanted to sit outside on the camping chairs so they were able to borrow a little radio from the concession stand. This was my first trip to a drive-in. Ever. So the picture was fine, and the sound was fine, and really the whole experience was everything I had hoped for. When I found out that there is a second drive-in in this town, I was about ready to move here. Two drive-ins!(I live in a major metropolis and the nearest one to my house is over 40 miles away! And the word on Unilocal is that it’s pretty ghetto!) Could the bathroom and concession stand be improved? Well, probably, but don’t let that stop you from coming here. They show new movies and the people who work there are super nice. Their regular popcorn was really good, but the flavored popcorn was not great, I say stick to the regular and eat lots of it.(By the way, the«NOOUTSIDEFOOD» signs seem a little oppressive at first, but realize that there is not much profit margin on the movie and without concessions they would probably not be able to keep this place open, so be nice, OK? That’s all they’re trying to say.)
