Blue Knob State Park is a huge park outside of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. It offers hiking, camping and swimming in a large inground pool. We picked Blue Knob for a weekend in July because it is the highest elevation campground in PA. Even from the park office to the campground the temperature dropped 6 – 8 degrees. This campground is very open, and therefore very RV friendly. We’re tent campers so this was a bit of a disappointment for us. However, I get the feeling it rarely fills, and it was very quiet. The campground shows movies on Friday nights, and educational programs on Saturdays. In the winter a ski resort runs in part of the park. I would recommend this park to locals who are looking for an easy introduction to camping.
