Ib Divers

I’ve been going here for almost a year for air fills and accessories, yesterday they had a huge sale. they gave me a price on a drysuit i count believe so i had I’m measure me up for a custom drysuit. this is dive shop that knows there stuff! a shop for divers, ran by divers, owned by divers. don’t be fooled by those HUGE chain sporting good stores that offer scuba. stay local stay with a company that has a passion for what they do.

So I got my NAUI open water certification through I B Divers… The instructors were very knowledgeable, friendly, and answered any questions our class had!
Kyle, Tom, George, Robert Jennings, Blaine, and cody! Where some of the workers/​instructors that where all down to earth and willing to help. I would refer this shop to get tanks filled, buy gear, get a refresher on certain life saving techniques, or get open water or advance scuba certified to anyone! Just make sure your not up tight or moody! They like to have a good time and joke when the time is right, but when its time to get down to business they all can provide any assistance needed.

The older lady here gave me the worst service ever… a gentleman walking out the door saw my talk over my shoulder and said «good luck there compressor is out.» I ask the lady «so no air hu?» She said «that’s what that man said wasn’t it!» Wow are you kidding me, shop was dirty CRAP everywhere, and they hate people to come in… I will never return.

I brought my gear here for service; they took forever and had to call frequently to remind them. They LOST MY DIVE COMPUTER! and would get irritated when I called or dropped by to ask; claimed they would replace it but they have not. They had to search quite awhile for my bag for my regulator. Very unprofessional and not reliable.

I must have went here on a bad day compared to everyone else. The shop was dirty, unorganized, and just looked like a cluster. There was a very small selection of gear and the woman who was there at the time was useless.
I walked in and there 2 people there. I think one was buying gear but wasn’t sure. I was expecting the friendly dive shop atmosphere but never saw it. I walked up to one of their makeshift counters/​display shelf in the middle of the store and waited to be acknowledged. I didn’t want to be rude and interrupt. When the woman acknowledged me it was if I was wasting her time. I asked what kind of classes they offered and she said I will have to talk to someone else and then said that he won’t be in until tomorrow. How does a dive shop not know their class schedule? I said OK and looked around.
I spent maybe 2 minutes looking at their limited selection. In one corner they had a bunch of used stuff. I wasn’t sure if it was for sale, their classes, or just trash. I left the store and don’t plan on returning again.
I am a experienced diver and was looking for a class similar to the PADI Equipment Specialist class because the dive shop I normally go to doesn’t offer it. I don’t know how their classes are but if it looks anything like their IB store I wouldn’t take one there. I don’t know about their La Jolla store, I have heard it is better but who knows.

Best dive shop. Great instruction, good prices, excellent service. Best place to get air — always a good fill. The staff and owner actually know what they are doing. Highly recommend.

For my money, IB Divers is the best dive shop in San Diego! They are locally owned and operated and Kyle, the owner, is extremely passionate about providing the best possible instruction, equipment and most kick-​ass boat charters to all of their loyal customers. If you are serious about diving and want the best, then this is the local dive shop for you because IB Divers specializes in all of the best high-​end equipment (Halcyon, Atomic, ScubaPro, AquaLung, DUI, Henderson, etc.). Also be sure not to miss their all-​inclusive dive charters on the Horizon that they do a few times a year to the top So. Cal. dive destinations (Catalina Island, San Clemente Island, Santa Barbara Island, Cortez Banks, etc.)!

Awesome. We went out all weekend and had a blast. I now have lobster to eat for the next few weeks. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Decent shop with a semi-​friendly, knowledgeable owner (Kyle). The pseudo-​arrogance of being a small player associated with a small certifying agency, making that last great act of defiance, is occasionally on display here, but all in all they’re a pretty solid shop. (The owner’s father, previous-​owner Ralph, was a good man.)

Ok I have been diving for a while now, and never ran across a better shop. The two guys who run the place are awesome, and their selection of BC’s and Spearfishing gear is impressive. They know their equipment and make sure you are getting the best fit and deal. It is also the only dive shop in La Jolla and is so close to Children’s Pool. Tank fill ups are cheap and the dive knife selection is impressive.

I just finished an accelerated 7-​day Scuba Certification course through IB Divers, which is held at the 32St. Naval Base. You do not have to be in the military to join as long as you drive in with one of the instructors. The class met 5pm-​9pm Mon-​Fri and 2 open water sessions Sat & Sun from 7am-​2pm at La Jolla Shores. It’s a little intense, but after that you’re officially NAUI Diver certified and it’s an amazing feeling!
An accelerated class like this is all about the instructors, because if you don’t like them it’s hard to get through 4 hrs a night of pool and class, especially after a full day’s work. IB Divers has world class instructors/​Dive Masters! Ken Trapp and Stephan Mueller were our 2 main instructors. They were experienced, informative, and really, really cool. They worked well with everyone’s individual skill levels and were books of knowledge & experience, which they shared continuously.
I have yet to go to their actual shop in IB or La Jolla, however, if the rest of their employees are anything like Ken and Stephan I’ll shop there exclusively for my scuba gear. Thank you IB Divers for a wonderful scuba cert. experience!

Best personalities, and really friendly people. Mom and Son run SCUBA Shop (A+ NAUI Dive Shop). I will definitely go there again and take more certifications there to advance my SCUBA Experience.

Best dive shop in San Diego! Family run. Staff is always VERY friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Best prices in town – especially in a day and age when the idea of giving the customer more than they pay for is unheard of. We rent gear here whenever we go diving and refer all the other divers we know.

Excellent dive shop with great prices and friendly knowledgeable staff. Their expertise runs from basic open water through technical/​mixed gas diving. Their air fills are spot on and they take special precaution to insure no moisture gets into their system causing your tank to rust.
They are located in Imperial Beach and it’s a bit of a drive for some folks but the drive is definitely worth it.

A family-​owned/​run dive shop that has amazing service and experience. The shop is a little out of the way for me, but their prices, service, and classes keep me coming back. Their classes consist of a lot of local military personnel (myself included) and they are understanding of military schedules (i.e. they are flexible).
I much prefer the small, local dive shop to the larger commercialized stores with inflated prices and impersonal service.
