DELICIOUS! I was already expecting this place to be great but I had to try it out for myself. We ordered the antipasto appetizer first, and it was so fresh and came out really fast! Then we ordered the Lasagna and Chicken Parm. and it also came out really fast! Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Loved how fresh and homemade it was. Great family restaurant, the service was wonderful and couldn’t have been better! One of my favorites was the focaccia bread that came with the meal, SOPERFECT! Definitely will be back, happy customers!

Woohoo! I found a new(new to me) favorite Italian restaurant! Thanks to one of my best friend’s who wanted to fulfill her lasagna craving. She mentioned this restaurant and wanted to try it. I told her that I would look for the menu on Unilocal,to see if they serve lasagna. It wasn’t listed on their online menu. We decided to go anyway. It is a quaint place with Italian décor and music playing in the background. Private parking lot shared with other businesses. We went for dinner. We were seated right away. They had a list of special dishes that evening. It must have been our lucky night! They listed Lasagna as one of their specials. I decided to order something light, since I cut back a lot on pasta and cheese. I started with a salad and balsamic dressing. We were served with fresh Foccacia Bread. The bread was yummy and moist. It tasted even better when I dipped pieces of my bread in my salad dressing. I ordered their Chicken Marsala that included penne pasta with marinara sauce and freshly steamed green beans. They weren’t stingy with their mushrooms on the Marsala sauce. Our dishes were perfectly portioned. I joined the clean plate club that night and finished everything on my plate. I was able to try some of my friend’s lasagna. Her lasagna dish included fresh asparagus. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! No leftovers to take home! We even had room for dessert. We ordered their Tiramisu for dessert. We were told by the owner(who was also our server), that their desserts(except for the Spumoni) are home-made. Their Tiramisu was mouth-watering good! It wasn’t too sweet. It felt like a party in my mouth! I definitely recommend the Tiramisu! I plan to return and try their Cannoli. The service was excellent! The owners are friendly. They even thought we were one of their regulars. If you’re looking for a home-away-from-home, authentic Italian restaurant, this is the place to be!

My new favorite dish is Spaghetti Amore, which is chock full of the most delicious garlicky mushrooms. Even better when you add some shrimp! Call before you go, this is a traditional family restaurant, and they are not open 7 days a week. Would love to have the recipe for the incredible minestrone soup — that with garlic bread would be a great dinner. Excellent inexpensive Italian wine, best tiramisu ever!

Highly recommended. Small place but Huge on Flavor & wonderful home-made Italian food. We started with the focaccia & balsamic dipping oil. The bread was warm, fluffy-light & delicious. I had the eggplant parmesan &my friend had the special: Lazagna. Both excellent. However the highlight was savoring the Tiramisu. By far… the BEST I halve ever had. The Owners are super friendly & make you feel at home & the place is spotless including the rest room.

I had never enjoyed such great Italian food. Ordered the fettuccini with clams, husband had scampi con fungi over penne and both were excellent. Friendly service from the owners, will absolutely return to enjoy such flavorful food.

Found out that Mary, one of the great chef’s from the original Marco’s, in Coronado opened this place. This was our first time here and good as I expected. I had the Salmon on asparagus, over Angel Hair pasta served up nice, hot and delicious. Garlic bread is great and home made Canoli! These Canoli are crisp and decadent, the best in San Diego. Glad we stopped in and will definitely return.

This small family run restaurant puts out some excellent, not fancy food. We arrived late on a busy Saturday night, so they were out of the two specials that sounded good to my wife & me. Not a problem, as the pastas on the menu hit the spot. We each got the garlic, white wine and olive oil sauce with mushrooms. I got shrimp w/mine. Pasta cooked perfectly al dante; great garlicky flavor. We each added a small salad for 2 bucks. House made dressings were on point. The bread was heavenly. The cannoli is about the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve been around the cannoli block a few times. Great value; good people here.

Café Di Roma is like going to Nona’s house to eat! It’s family owned and my 2nd time in there the owners greeted me by name. I’ve tried everything on the menu and I’ve never been disappointed! I’ll even stop by just to pick up one of their delicious salads and some focaccia if I feel like eating light. They’re not trying to be trendy like some places on Seacoast, that are over– priced. It’s delicious, homemade authentic, reasonably priced Italian food! Take it from an Italian(Calabrese) gal… you want to try this place! And don’t forget a desert!!! I almost want to just keep it a little local IB secret!

Awesome home cooked food would be awesome if it had a small one seat outside for a single person with their dog

It’s a quiet joint that is great for romantic dates. The location is a bit odd but the food is of great quality. It seemed a little bit pricey but I’m sure I’ll be back for that outstanding garlic bread.

The service here was impeccable! They owners were so warm and welcoming. The wife has a collection of tea glasses that are truly beautiful. We ordered lasagna. Apparently they make there own noodles and ricotta cheese! It tasted like a home cooked meal which was exactly what I needed on this cloudy day. My sister ordered the scampi & that was delicious as well. It was light and buttery with tons of mushrooms. They gave us a free minestrone soup and it was so warm and hearty! They also gave us a free soup! I could’ve have been more impressed with the service as well as the yummy food!

Great food with wonderful service. Always the nicest people making you feel like at home. Lasagna is usually my go to but everything is really good(I’ve been here enough to try nearly everything) The specials have been some of the best meals I’ve had. Hidden gem of a family restaurant.

This place is a hidden gem. A quaint Italian café run by a friendly Italian family that serves dishes to die for! Full dinner for two with wine and dessert for around $ 50 will be the best money you could ever spend. The Foccacia bread is baked fresh to serve and is lighter than air. Make sure and ask what the special of the day is as they are always creative and delicious dishes. Really, I can’t say enough good things about this perfect gem. Treat yourself, go tonite! Great date night spot.

First time in. Very quaint homey place. Super friendly service. The starter is a homemade foccia like none other I’ve had. The first impression is the weight… you’ve picked up a feather. Then taste… melts in your mouth. I had the day’s special, lasagna. I usually can’t finish that dish and bring half home. Not this bad boy! Ate every scrap. The best Italian place in San Diego by far. You could pick this place up in NYC and it would still be one of the best!
