Service horrible, food didn’t taste real fresh. It was practically empty, I understand why and this was during noon-1:30! No one came back to see if we needed more tea, water and the waiter put the bill in front of me! First of all the bill should have gone in the middle-my husband paid of course — but how rude! Tuna taste defrosted– YUK!

Reading many one star reviews because of poor customer service I wish I read them prior to wasting $ there! Not only was the service non existent but the sushi was terrible! Sushi Deli is very inexpensive in 3 locations, it’s not the best grade of sushi because it’s so inexpensive — with that said its still 10 times better then this place. How does a place with an owner that doesn’t care about customer service stay in business? So many bad reviews you would think they would get a clue? Taka Sushi in Gaslamp is the real thing!

Got The Chicken Teriyaki And Veggie Egg Roll Combination, Wasn’t It’s Best. Rice Was Alittle Too Old and the spy sauce tastes like alcohol. Also got the crunchy roll and asked to replace the salmon with Jalepenos But Instead It Turned Out To Be GREENBELLPEPPERS. Pretty disappointed for a first timer. Won’t be returning.

A place whoms review is long over due. It’s unfortunately a little far from where I live but regardless my aunt and I come on a regular basis and have been coming for about 2 years now. We always get the dream or monkey roll, oysters and the sushi poppers and devour it quickly. Server is friendly and is usually the same guy we always see. One of my go-to for sushi if I’m in the area or really craving their specific sushi.

We ABSOLUTELYLOVETHISRESTAURANT! Great job you guys at Meijo. Great selection, very sweet prices, fast service, not formal ambiance. We are regulars for as long as we are here in imperial beach.!!

I was looking for a quick affordable place to take out some simple sushi rolls and that’s exactly what Meijo’s is. Yellowtail and tuna rolls both always under $ 6. That’s tough to beat for a 23 year old balling on a budget. Don’t have crazy high expectations for this place and you’ll enjoy yourself. Great service and spicy wasabi! That’s tough to find nowadays

I love the Teriyaki roll, and my son the Teriyaki bowl. Food is delish, service is good, restaurant is clean, prices are fair and less than 5 minutes away from home.

Friendly and fast service, the food was great and prices was very reasonable. Our server was very helpful. He recommended us what to get based on our preference and when the food came out it was delicious. We ended up getting the Garlic edamame and tempura vegetable as appetizers which was great. For sushi we got the Dream roll(inside has tempura shrimp, avocado and cream cheese top with tuna, shrimp and spicy crab) Dynamite roll(crunchy roll with baked seafood on top) Kamikaze roll(inside is shrimp, spicy crab, cucumber and on top is tuna and salmon). The sushi tasted very fresh and everything was excellent. If you’re a sushi fan, I Highly recommend this place.

Friendly waiter. Fast turn-around time for food to come out. Sushi was pretty good as well. The ginger salad dressing wasn’t that gingery. Not that great according to my wife. I thought it was ok. Had salmon nigiri that had some nice fat lines in it. Crunchy roll, took out cream cheese and substituted avocado. WASDEELISH. Nigori sake was pretty tasty as well. Overall, good sushi place. But Ginger salad dressing wasn’t that great according to the wife.

If I could eat here every day, I would. The Monkey Roll is amazing, the Dream roll is definetly a dream, and just about every other roll I’ve tried was awesome. The prices are great so trying new things isn’t as hard of a decision as it would be elsewhere. Its not a crowded place so you won’t have to call ahead unless you have a large group. This place is a hidden gem that can easily be passed when heading out to Coronado, so make sure to stop by before heading out to the beach.

Customer service and décor is nothing to brag about but the sushi is good. I had the monkey roll and the eel roll and both were delicious.

I give this place 5 stars because of the excellent service and quality of the food for the money. For a place in IB that’s all you can really ask for. Whenever I come here, this place always prepares my food rapidly quick. Even when they’re busy, I’ve never had to wait more than 10 – 15 mins for anything that isn’t a baked sushi roll. The staff are all south East Asian so they don’t have much to say, but they are very friendly. I’ve been coming here for years and I leave satisfied every time. Give these guys a try!

I got their miso soup: Good I was craving sushi and I could not narrow it down to one so naturally I ordered four. All four delicious in their own way. The Monkey Roll, YES! Banana taste so good in it. The other three I do not remember their names but based on my experience I don’t think you could go wrong by choosing blindly from their menu.

Meijo USED to be my favorite sushi place in the south but now after recent visit I feel the service and the quality of the food has gone down SUBSTANTIALLY since they first opened. If I wasn’t so hungry I would’ve walked out but since I did drive 25 minutes to get here and with my kids I figured I’ll just settle for it since it was considered edible. The banana on top of the monkey roll was super soggy, the rice was old and they even forgot about the tempura crunch on top of the dang roll! this will be my last time coming back to to this wack«sushi» place.

I love this place! Friendly staff and great rolls. Must try items are: 1.The Monkey Roll is one that I fell in love with. I’ve been ordering it here for years. By far one of my most craved rolls of all time. 2.Crunchy roll 3.And the protein roll. Best sushi restaurant around. Definitely our cup of tea!

I have been coming to Meijos since 2006 and it is still my go to Sushi spot in San Diego. Whenever I come home to visit, I have to eat here at least once while visiting. I am really disappointed in myself that it has taken me so long to write a review for such gem in Imperial Beach. Their parking lot is shared with all of the other shops in the small strip mall and I have never had a problem with parking here. You do have the option to sit outside but I would urge you not to because we have opted for sitting outside a few times and they have actually forget we were out there. The waiter or waitress will bring you your check and you go up to the counter by the entrance to pay. I believe that there is a $ 10 minimum for credit cards and there is an ATM right next to the cashier counter. The waiters and waitresses are really friendly and are extra friendly to regulars. They treat you like you are an old friend which is really refreshing. Like I said I have been coming here since 2006 and my most recent(April 17th) visit I saw one new waitress working there. They have had the same staff as long as I have been coming here. You are able to call in to-go orders which is always a plus. Some of my favorite items to order are: Chirashi Bowl: is so reasonably priced and is extremely fresh. Fried Calamari: you get a large amount for the price, the breading on the calamari is wonderfully crispy and the dipping sauce is tasty. Fried Gyoza: is probably the appetizer I order the most next to the Fried Calamari. It is so savory and crunchy. Oyster Shooters: are some of the best oysters I have ever had, my mouth is watering just thinking about them! Rainbow Roll: is always a wonderful go to roll when you are looking for a good variety of fish. Tiger Eye: was the first roll I ever ordered here and it is still to this day one of my favorites. The calamari and salmon ratio is perfect and the sauce that comes with it is to die for. Honestly I have tried every single one of their rolls and they are all really good and I think they are priced fairly. The Teriyaki bowls are really filling and I love the variety of vegetables. The combination plates are really filling as well! One of my favorite combination plates is the ginger salmon. The desserts here are amazing as well. Overall I am such a huge fan of this place and I seriously miss it every time I am craving sushi. I have tried a lot of sushi places in the east bay and nothing compares to Meijos.

Meijo’s isn’t the greatest sushi spot but the location makes it so easy to pickup sushi to go. Although Meijo is larger than most sushi restaurants, it can get a little loud in there. Nothing that plum wine or a Sapporo can’t fix. As for their menu, it’s all pretty standard sushi fare. We always order the Sushi Poppers and Monkey Ball Specials. The Monkey Ball is pretty unique, its spicy tuna in a mushroom cap coated in tempura and served hot. Other than that, everything else is pretty unremarkable. The prices are great so that makes going out for sushi a more frequent option.
