I’ve been here several times. OK, nothing great. Today, I found mold on the bottom of a piece of cake. All I got was«Sorry.» No offer to comp a meal or anything to encourage my return. Horribly short-sighted management decisions. They will receive no more of my dining dollars.

I got an order of general tso’s chicken with fried rice to go. The chicken looked alright but it was drowning in sauce. The fried rice had brown clumps in it. Not sure if that was soy sauce stuck or if it was old rice reheated. Either way it didn’t smell like fried rice. The chicken sauce was fine but the chicken pieces were nasty. I only ate 2 pieces that weren’t brown inside or had hard rubber like pieces in them. I am grossed out. I didn’t even eat ¼ of my food that I paid $ 12 for. Very disappointed. Definitely won’t be going there again!

Last week Friday night at around 7:30, my wife and I are there. It looked ok and the food was ok. As my wife was getting some colonies, I observed a roach climbing out of the raw sliced beef container for their habashi grill. I called over the cool and the manager immediately squished it between his fingers and went into the kitchen… That will be our only trip there!

Brought my kids here for their birthday and this waitress hovers over us in an apparent attempt to get us to leave in a hurry. They stop bringing drinks after a while too. She took our silverware before we were finished eating too. Super disappointed. Used to love coming here.

Better than some other buffets. The selection is pretty good. The main thing this place has going for it is the price. It’s a good value. I think I got out of here for under $ 10 for lunch, drink included. I won’t get into all the details, because you know what expect from a Chinese buffet. All the usual suspects are here, and the ones I tried were at least average to above average. Some were a little sweeter than I would have liked, but that’s a personal preference. It won’t change your life, but it gets the job done.

Stumbled upon this little gem of an Asian buffet after getting my hurr did at the Sport Clips down the way. I was incredibly and pleasantly surprised at the quality and selection of the food here. They offer both Japanese, Mongolian and Chinese cuisine, hence the ‘East Buffet’ name. You can get your own Mongolian stir fry made, and they also have fresh sushi. The chocolate fountain was a nice touch. Then I got the bill… $ 8.92 with tax. With tip, it was $ 11. Wow! For the most inexpensive all you can eat Asian lunch buffet with high quality food in KC, East Buffet can’t be beat.

They have chocolate fountain :) it’s so nice with fresh strawberry and marshmallow. I like hot and sour soup, baked salmon, crab Rangoon, chicken skewers, pork dumpling, house special steak cubes and homemade cheesecake a lot. I spent only $ 7.10 for my lunch their. I will definitely come back again.

As everyone else has said, it’s standard Chinese fare. My initial impression was that the place was kind of a ripoff, and that the staff was bored, and nothing really took place to change that impression. For example, there’s a HUGE sign outside that says $ 5.95BUFFETEVERYDAY. When you get closer, you see that it says 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and even smaller below that, it says«60 and over.» Yeah. Nice. The regular price isn’t much higher, so I didn’t pitch a fit. I paid $ 7.10 including tax — I drank water, so no charge for the drink. The place looked pretty clean, but I also visited at an off-peak time(about 1:15 pm). Positives: Variety on the buffet — several chicken dishes, several pork, several vegetarian. Quantity of food available was good, not the«you get the last scrapings before we bring out more» that you see at some buffets. There was also a good variety of desserts. I did not try the hibachi or the sushi — not a fan of sushi, and didn’t have time for the hibachi. Negatives: Of the three meat dishes I tried, all three were not warm. They were not cold, but I’d bet that if the health inspector came in, the temp would be far below that which is required. But a change of 10 degrees lower on a steam table can save a bunch on the electricity bill… The food was, at best, generic. I tried chicken and broccoli, peppered pork, and a couple of other chicken dishes, and they all tasted like they had simply cooked a batch of meat, tossed in the veggies, then poured sauce over it on the way to the steam table. The eggrolls weren’t greasy, which was one positive. The crab rangoon was blah — not sweet, not any kind of real flavor to it, just meh. Frankly, I’ve tried the P.F. Chang frozen Chinese entrees from the grocery store, and they were better. Probably will not go back. And I love Chinese food.

Standar chinese buffet food. Any of the chicken dishes such as general’s, lemon, orange, etc all taste the same & the meat itself is pretty gross. I never touch it! Crab rangoon is flavorless unfortunately, egg rolls are good but last time we were there they were old & stale. =( BEWAREOFTHECHOCOLATEFONDUE… the chocolate is bitter & grainy. At least the time I tried it, it was. I’ve never been brave enough to try it again. They do have a hibachi grill & I’ve never tempted to have them cook anything for me from the ingredients that look like they’ve been sitting out ALL day long. However, you can’t go wrong with the noodles, fried rice, terriyaki chicken(by the hibachi grill), seasoned poatoes, fresh«looking» green beans, and corn dogs! hahaha. Literally, that’s all I will eat from here for the most part. Oh & the soft serve ice cream… it by far was my favorite thing here. Staff & waitresses are pretty rude, and they alone will keep you from coming back! Spend your $ elsewhere. P. S. Desserts are by far the worse & tasteless! The sushi looks as if it’s been sitting for decades and looks unappetizing. They might have 3 sushi rolls available. but stay away!

This place is standard Chinese buffet fare. The service was good and food was edible. The jalapeño chicken is good if you like a kick in the mouth. They had all the usual items and a chocolate fountain to boot. If I was grading only Chinese buffets it would get an extra star. You could definitely do much worse for lunch.

So the place looks like a typical buffet. There was a few issues I had with the place and one issue that will make me never go back. The meat that is served here is way over breaded to the point that half of the bites I had were all bread. The sushi really isn’t that great which I don’t expect buffet sushi to be fantastic but at least decent to good. Just flat out terrible, basically reminded me of the sushi you buy at a grocery store. But. The biggest issue I had was when I reported a bunch of food was cold to the owner he looked at me and asked if he could put it into the microwave. I was astonished. Then he proceeded to tell me that it is my responsibility to stir the food so I can get to the hot food and make sure all the food is fresh. Very disappointing.

We ate at the lunch buffet using a 15% off coupon arriving at 11:20 am. The food was not fresh. The shrimp on the hibachi grill bar was not peeled and de-veined, so this is a huge strike against this place. Everything we ate tasted as if it had been there for days. We did notice around Noon, the business picked up and they started bringing more fresh items out once the old items were gone. We did try a fresh crab Rangoon and it was much better! Unfortunatly for us, we had already eaten. The guy and girl asked us how everything was and we told them about our experience and we would not be back. They really didn’t seem to care Two buffets with water were $ 12.18 w/tax. We will never eat there again. Take your business to Mama Garden on Noland Road, it is much better.

My long story short: This is by far the best Asian buffet I’ve ever been to! I don’t know what buffet many of these people who have left reviews were eating at, but every time I have visited East buffet the service has been great, the wait staff friendly, the place clean, and the food fresh. Every once in a while when I have gone the food has been less tasty than usual, but that has been when they were either packed and rushing to keep the buffet full or virtually empty and the food may have sat for a bit. Seriously though, what buffet doesn’t have food that sits out for some period of time? And what buffet doesn’t offer mass produced food? The food here is almost always been fresh because they are always bringing out more due to everyone emptying each dish quickly. The quality of the food is much higher than virtually every other buffet I’ve been to(Chinese or other), and they have many dishes that other Chinese restaurants don’t offer. For the quality and the variety they give you the pricing is very reasonable. I recommend going at the start of the dinner hours on a weekend for the freshest food as this is when they are always refilling the dishes more frequently. I will agree, however, that their sushi selection leaves a lot to be desired. But then again, for truly good sushi you need to go to a sushi bar or hibachi restaurant. I recommend Samurai Chef for that. ;)

My expectations weren’t high(never are for buffets). But this place epitomizes the reason why people are afraid of buffets. Besides being mediocre mass-produced«Chinese» food, the stuff seems to sit out all day long. I experienced dumplings with chewy wonton wrappers, overcooked rice, chewy noodles. Overly soy-sauced things. I looked at the sushi, sadly and timidly sitting alone on tables, knowing of their obvious ugliness and hoping to be put out of their misery. I did not do them the courtesy. Perhaps I just went there on a crappy slow day, where dinner had been sitting out there since lunch. But I shan’t return.

The first time I ate here was about a year ago. Upon walking outside after eating, I immediately lost my cookies… I should have applied my philosophy with boys to this restaurant: If at first they fail horribly, then never give them a second chance!!! I arrived at East buffet about 5:15PM. I was already slightly uncomfortable about eating by myself, but to make matters worse, my waiter sat down at the table in front of me and practically watched me eat my food the entire time. I got an arrangment of food on my first plate and everything, absolutely everything, was stone cold… the chicken, the shrimp, the crab, the pork roll… I was really hungry, though, and went back up for a 2nd plate of food hoping for better luck. I even chose completely different dishes than the first time. Once again, everything was cold!!! I figured that a plate of fruit couldn’t hurt, only to find and spit out some very hard, very old pineapple. Lastly, they advertised all you can eat sushi on their windows… this«all you can eat» sushi consisted of maybe 4 kinds of sushi… none of them with labels. East Buffet was a very bad decision for dinner.

My son loves this place, and generally we try to hit the lunch hour, for prices. I can go and eat the green beans, and a couple of the other vegetables(they don’t have that many to choose from), and hope that the walnut shrimp is made correctly. Well, each time I hope the walnut shrimp is correct, but they add too much dry mustard. There is sushi at the buffet, but one time I tried sushi there, and it kind of made me gag. I do like the crab raggoon, but it’s nothing to get excited about. It’s generally eatable, but I’ve seen it over done. Their chicken on skewers are pretty tasty. The springs rolls, if they’ve not sat out for too long taste fresh. They are generally filled with cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, onions, and shrimp. The General Tso’s chicken is just okay. I’ve had better. I like the sesame chicken, if, again, it’s not sat out too long. That’s my main complaint, and I eat here enough to have a genuine complaint. Sometimes the food isn’t as fresh as it can be. There is a sparse salad bar. The food is usually fresh at the salad bar, but a couple of times, I’ve walked in, and they had canned pineapple…(wtf? that is disgusting.) The desserts are pretty good. Small pieces of chocolate cake, almond cookies(a bit dry), and sometimes lemon cake. There is also ice cream, with a sparse amount of toppings. They have a Mongoilan Barbeque. I have used it, and it is good. They have 3 sauces, but I”m sure the sauces(house, terriyaki, soy) are from the bottle. You can choose chicken, pork or beef. For drinks, I usually get water. I had the same problem, once, as Heather P. had in her review, so I choose to drink water from this point forward. I don’t like flavored tea. I really should give it two stars, but I eat there so often, that they have good days, and bad days. And, on a good day, they kind hit the spot. I know better than to eat their walnut shrimp, but I do anyway. Once, they had crab legs. Their buffet varies per day. My son loves their sweet and sour chicken. The rice is white, steamed. I don’t always eat rice. What’s funny is, the pictures above the cashier, doesn’t coincide with the menu, nor the buffet. I’m not sure it’s great for kids, but I”ve seen people with alot of kids in tow. I’m wondering if they are the same people as who owned the Hongkong Buffett in the same location?

We went to this restaurant at about 8:45pm last night for a late dinner. They are open until 10 on Friday nights. We were seated right away and someone asked for our drink order right away. This was the good part of our experience. When we went to the buffet, part of it was already closed down. The food was not fresh at all and some of it was cold. Most of the buffet trays were almost empty. When we were almost done eating, they brought us our check. This seems normal for most restaurants today. They then took our bill and tip before we left. This is very rude in my mind. They should wait until you leave to take the bill. The last time we went to their restaurant, the owner was very rude. He was at the register and ignored us when we went up to pay the bill. He just kept looking down at his paperwork. I think overall the food is typically mediocre but the service is terrible.
