Crazy good Redneck fun. Live country music, singer soooo drunk couldn’t remember the words, said as much and gave the mic to the crowd bahahaha! Band was fantastically entertaining covering everything from today’s country hits, Johnny Cash, Black Crowes, Green Day to Katy Perry with a twang. During the day, couple of stages for local live artist and childern’s performing groups to belly dancers can be found. At night on the big stage are the rock/country bands. FOOD was all over the map and just what you hope for a midwest festival. BBQ, frozen lemonade, fried twinkies, cotton candy, Jambalaya, roasted nuts, frozen slush wine, nachos, gyros, kettle corn and on and on Crafting tents with no end in sight, bonafide carnival ferris wheel surrounded by games and classic rides. Best PEOPLEWATCHING evah. A sensory overload in the best kind of way and it’s still FREE entry, FREE entertainment. It’s every September during Labor Day weekend, rain or shine. Parking can be rough, almost all surrounding parking lots have a spot for $ 5 – 10, if your willing to search and walk maybe one can found for free.

Love Santa Caligon Days. Hate that they now charge $ 1 per person to ride the bus each way from the Community of Christ parking lot. This new fee makes it cheaper to park and walk from a parking spot by the event if there are very many people traveling with you.

As a vendor at Santacaligon we are treated very poorly. They gave my normal space away & kept my money. They also kept the insurance money that they charge… even though I wasn’t there to be insured.

Always worth going since I was a kid. Very light traffic this afternoon. Maybe the heat? Maybe because there are so many Labor Day festivities around town now? It used to be hard to even move around there were so many people. The folks running the food tents and trailers were really friendly and there were many reasonable and tasty options. We really enjoyed the Hawaiian trailer where we got a pork bun the size of a softball for $ 3.50! Other faves were candied maple bacon chips, homemade root beer, homemade brats, lemon ice and, of course, the funnel cake. One of the craft tents had a booth that was handing out samples of Frappé Vino, frozen cocktail fusion. It was pretty awesome! Even the wife, who doesn’t like wine, loved it. I bought one mix kit for $ 13.00. It will make a gallon of the frozen wine concoction. The Sun was harsh. It was possible to find places to sit in the shade, where you could feel a nice breeze and cool down. No crowds, easy parking, good food, friendly people, what more could you ask for?
