This small family owned retail shop on the Independence Square is a true gem and an important part of our local economy. Yes, it’s all kinds of wonderful products from Scandinavia, but it’s also so much more. The store has foods, luxury toiletries and toys. It’s the best place in Independence for unique gifts and decoration. Every world traveler will feel at home here.

This is a cute little store on the square in Independence. I had never been here before. I was impressed with the variety of Scandinvian snacks available for purchase plus the trinkets, spices, decorations, books, etc., all for those interested in Scandinavian life. I will be back at this store. While I adore IKEA’s food section, I like to shop the independent guy/gal first, if at all possible. Independence is kind of out of the way for me but this will give me another reason to make a trip over!

Scandinavia Place is a fun little place that sells a really eclectic mix of merchandise — fun European candies, Vera Bradley products, dishes and silverware, books, homemade jewelry, and all sorts of food and teas. We spent several minutes just circling because there was so much to see. The ladies working behind the counter greeted us when we came inside, asked us questions, and made us feel welcome, but then they gave us space to let us browse on our own. In the end we decided against anything big and bought lots of candies and teas to sample at home, and the salted caramel might be the best thing I’ve tasted in a long time. I can’t wait to go back and try some more.

I love this place for its jewelry & company. The people that work there are incredibly friendly and I usually end up staying for another 20 minutes just chatting. Scandinavia Place sells local jewelry that is unique and beautiful. I’ve bought several pieces and recommend everyone checking this place out.

I like this pleasant little shop. I don’t know why I’ve not put it on Unilocal yet. It’s located in Independence Square, adjacent to Knitcraft, and next to an antique store that I’ve never bothered to go into, cause I’m always loitering in the Scandinavia Place or the yarnshop.(The yarnshop exists, but doesn’t beckon me to enter except for emergencies.) Scandinavia Place is bright on the inside, and has an interesting selection of sundries and trinkets, hidden in every corner and clandestinely placed throughout the premises. In the Scandinavia Place, you’ll find food such as sauces, or dips(which I need to buy, the raspberry jalepeno, OMG… very good), Scandinavian cookies, short breads, teas, flavorings. And REAL Swedish Fish, not generics, or look alikes. Why buy generic Swedish Fish, when you can buy the real thing? I’m selective about my tasty little Swedish Fish. It has gifts that are not found elsewhere, and to my delight, a nice selection of Vera Bradley in the back of the store, that is always busy. No one in Independence sells Vera Bradley, so I shop here alot. The specialized selection of gifts and foods, candies and hand bags make this almost a boutique. That which it is. As you can tell from my past reviews, I like independently owned shops. Just cause it’s independently owned doesn’t make it expensive; they just have a nice selection, and it’s Scandinavian in nature… except for the Vera Bradley. The staff are very kind, and not pressing, but helpful. So, if you’re in the area, you should check this place out. It’s a joy to have a store like this.
