By far the best pizza in Independence! I haven’t tried any of their specialty pizzas since the kids are pepperoni-only types, but I’m sure they are fabulous. If you are looking for a clean, laid back place to have dinner with the family, this is your place.

The 6 cheese and the bbq chicken are my personal favorites. Give any of them a try and you wont be disappointed. The staff can be a bit brusk, but all pizza joints can get like that when they’re busy.

Anytime we get close to the Independence Square, my daughter reminds me that we need to stop at Square Pizza. The pepperoni is so good. The sauce isn’t too spicy, nor bland– perfect! The crust is to die for…(yea, I just typed that). We ordered a Chicken Alfredo pie To-Go for my father who is elderly. That man still raves about the«take out» pizza we brought him. This isn’t the usual P Hut stuff. Definately worth trying.

I’ve been eating at Square Pizza for several years. I don’t live in the area, but it’s a favorite of some family of mine who do. The establishment always seems to be clean and, let’s face it, it’s kindof fun to say you ate a square pizza, so they definitely have the novelty factor going for them. I always enjoy the pizza. It’s not anything special, but it’s always really good. LOVE the crust and the sauce. The menu is quite diverse, so it’s nice to have a selection, although, I’ll be honest, when it comes to pizza, I typically stick to supreme! One thing that I value is that their pizza is NOT greasy! The salad always leaves a bit to be desired. The ingredients rarely seem very fresh. So, unless you are absolutely dying for a salad, I’d skip it and stick to the good stuff!

This pizza place is a hidden treasure. It’s so delicious and at a reasonable price. The place is clean and the staff is friendly.

Square pizza was pretty F’ING good! My family and I where part of a large party. Their back room can really hold a lot of people. Our orders came out quickly and accurately. The pizza was not at all what I expected. The crust was chewy and tender. The sauce was rich and flavorful. We had the six cheese pizza. And I don’t know if it really had all six cheeses but the cheeses on this pizza where delicious. My family had other varieties and everyone was happy with their square pie. This seems to be a great place to bring your family and friends. We don’t make it to this part of town very often but if we are — and we are in need of a square pizza, this will be the place we go.

Square Pizza is still top notch. I went there for a birthday party last night. The pizza ranks up there with other local establishments. I mean day-um. The service was great. But, they moved us from the main room(as we were eating our pizza) to the party room, and I thought the moving around was sloppy. I still like Square Pizza, still pay with cash there, and enjoy it. I bought a large pepperoni, and iced tea. I enjoy their pizza, but for some reason I can’t get my family to eat there. It’s really good. And the price is excellent.

We’ve been to Square Pizza twice now, I wanted to make sure before I just(literally) grabbed the phone and posted a 5 Star review. SO I waited patiently and went back and it’s not a fluke! This is really excellent pizza! I’m not a huge pizza fan so it’s got to be REALLY good to get my attention. Like the name says it’s a square pizza. The toppings are fresh and abundant. The crust has got to be the most light, airy crispy crust… it’s absolutely a hands down favorite. I like that it’s not over powering the toppings, but it’s such a compliment to the rest of the pie. The first time we went we got the Monterey Pizza: Ranch Sauce, Chicken, Red Onions, and Tomatoes and of course Monterey Cheese! It will always have a special place in my heart! We didn’t change a thing wanting to see how it came out«as is» and it was amazing. There was plenty of chicken so no piece was cheated. I loved the ranch sauce and the red onions not only made it pleasing to the eye but added some awesome flavor! The last pizza we got was The Big Island: Canadian bacon, Pineapple and Pine Nuts. Now this wasn’t my first choice when I went back but it’s a fav of the BF’s so I went along. OK I see the error in my ways… I’ve been ordering this pizza from the wrong place! Square Pizza in one bite changed my opinion of the classic«Hawaiian Pizza» I loved the pine nuts gave it a great crunch and creaminess. The Canadian bacon was not too thin or too thick you knew it was there, and the pineapple chunks gave it a touch of sweetness. AaaaLOHA!!! I am very much aware that I haven’t even scratched the surface of the offerings Square Pizza has; calzones, salads, wings even! But as far as I’m concerned I could live a long and happy life just getting the pizzas.

The first time there I was recommended a salad… I was weary of eating at a pizza place whose best dish was salad. But I digress. I was pleasantly satisfied with the bbq pizza I ordered in conjunction with my salad. It was a bit picey for being pizza but I left full fat and happy

Square Pizza is probably one of the better places to dine on Independence Square(best of the McClain’s anyhow). The Pizza is a decent product. Since the pizza is square you are getting 20% more square inches so the price is about right per square inch compared to other pizza places. Arcade is also cool and great for the kids.

Always excelent pizza… really good value. May cost more for a pie here but the ammount of toppings makes it worth it.

I used to really like square pizza. However, the last few times we’ve gone in this place has gone downhill. The pizza isn’t as thick or saucy like it was when they first opened. Also the toppings weren’t as fresh as they were when this place first opened. I’m still giving them two stars but that’s only because they are not as good as they used to be.

I like pizza. I like any pizza really, and I get excited about thin crust pizza. BUT this thin crust is soft, doughy. Can’t even pick a piece up to eat it. What the… Love the flavors of the cheese and toppings, though… And the ranch!

Freaking outstanding pizza. We dug every part of this place. From the oddly square-shaped pans, to the badass extra sauce, to the oddly somber — yet very friendly — owner. This place was a win all the way around. Obviously a favorite of the locals, we were pretty through with our meal and interacting with a manical group of children on some sort of birthday party /sugar binge /total freakout, when my son discovered the back room of games. $ 5 unlimited game play. Classic arcade games. Groovy. Granted, some of them were in a state of disrepair — but it was $ 5 unlimited play. I remain the undisputed Galaga Champion of the family. And the pizza was great. Ask for an extra bowl of sauce. It is wonderful.

I try not to complain too much when I find places I like in other towns but here is my location lament again… Why can we not get some of these places closer to downtown?! I love leaving town but it seems like I always crave this place when I don’t have an hour to dedicate to getting there and back. Seriously, driving through Independence at 1:30 pm on a one lane road(construction woes) added an extra 15 minutes to my already 30 minute trip to try this little gem on the square but honestly, it didn’t stop me from completing the trip.(See what they did with the name there? Square pizza on the Square. Get it?) I think some of their quaint-ness would be lost in downtown but dang it, I can use these reviews to be a tad selfish, right? ;) What I love about these guys: 1. Their building and interior are so freaking cute! 2. Ever since the old school days of growing up in a town where Pizza Hut was king and they had square pizzas, I’ve always been a fan of pizzas that are shaped ‘wrong’. 3. And that wrongly shaped crust is delicious! Not too thick, not too thin, and soft! The crust on the end has a slight crunch but none of the crust feels overly buttered or crispy and for the most part, I love pizza crust that is soft. A+ in my book. 4. The toppings are the perfect size and still contain flavor from being cooked for just the right time. I love that the veggies still have a little bit of crunch in them but compliment the pizza instead of blending in with the other ingredients or overwhelming them because they were not cooked long enough. The chicken/ranch pizza is really good for this as is the house supreme! What I hate about these guys: 1. Location! I will not continue to harp on them because it does give me an excuse to get out of town but do not get me started… 2. Price! I hate that a ‘slice=¼ of a small pizza’ for lunch was $ 5 but a small pizza is anywhere from $ 11-$ 14 on the menu. As a ‘Lactard’ I am indulging when I purchase a slice of pizza and have to take medicine in order to enjoy it. Sometimes I do not want to have leftovers that I will continually have to medicate to enjoy but here, that is the most affordable way to go. Not a problem, just not my favorite thing. 3. My inner alcoholic would love some beer to enjoy with my pizza but I haven’t really seen that they have any there. If they do, I’m sure it’s not an extensive menu since I haven’t noticed it the two times I have been here. So, if you haven’t been here yet, next time you are in Independence, there really is no question as to where you should dine. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed. But, I can’t say that it’s good enough to travel the 30 minutes to enjoy unless you’re enjoying a leisurely day off and want to explore a new area. The downtown square has some great looking shops to enjoy and could probably make an afternoon here completely worth the short-ish drive from KC proper.

What can I say? This place was just pretty dang average. And no matter what shape in which you prepare an average pizza, it’s still just average. I came in for lunch and had planned on getting a slice. Once I looked at their little spinning pizza display, I realized a slice of pizza was ¼ of one of their squares, and WAY more expensive than ¼ of a pizza. I threw caution to the wind and ordered a whole pie, anticipating leftovers. Well, there were leftovers, but I left them there. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, which I know isn’t the most traditional, and maybe not the most fair on which to judge a place. But if it’s on their menu, what can you do? I’m sitting here trying to think of how I would describe it, and all I keep coming up with is «blah», so why elaborate? The place gets points for being local and supporting what I suspect might be a struggling(or emerging?) retail district, but if I had to face the choice between this and Pizza Hut, I honestly don’t know which way I’d go. That’s not a good sign.

Y.U.M. I’m still glowing after experiencing the best, purely unadulterated moment of cheese bliss I ‘ve had in ages. O.M.G. — to die for! Being sick of chains, my hubs and I are trying to frequent more local joints. I ordered a Greek salad. I always use this as a barometer to feel out the place. If they serve a nasty salad, then I freak out thinking what the other food may be like. While small(not for the price), the salad was fresh and loaded. We ordered a large pizza; half pepperoni and half six cheese. Obviously it was square; interestingly it was cut in to triangles. So for all you peeps who are afraid of square pizza you can put your fears to rest. It was just the right crust, landing somewhere between a thin and thick. The toppings were piled on; no skimping on the cheese or pepperoni. BTW, the pepperoni was crisp, which is how we like it. For me the cheese was the best part. Cooked to a golden, bubbling, beautiful ooze, the cheese provided a stringy delight with every bite. The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and the price was awesome. We will definitely be returning. Oh, I almost forgot to mention they have an arcade. $ 5 gets you unlimited play.

Last night was a chill Fall evening and even at 4:30 in the afternoon, the street was already darkening, what with the shift back to Central Standard Time and the rain pattering down. But inside Square Pizza it was bright and smelled very good. We needed to be somewhere near the Independence Square by 5:30 so I called ahead and asked for our pizza order to be ready for us to eat-in at 4:30. When Hubby and I stepped in the door at Square Pizza, it reminded me just why we like this place. It’s a cheerful, interesting space and the servers are helpful and friendly. And it happens to be located in a town I really love — Independence Missouri. The pizza was ready to be delivered to our table as soon as we arrived. This time we ordered a Meat Lovers pie and it was very tasty as always. A couple of my other special favorites are the Margherita and the The Square House Supreme but no matter which pie you order, you can count on fresh ingredients and generous amounts of the toppings. I and various and assorted members of our family have been visiting Square Pizza for several years. It’s one of our favorites and definitely one of the best Pizza places in the Independence area.

I have only had a calzone from this place, but if the pizza is anything like that calzone, I’ll be coming back. If you’re looking for a departure from the chain-style pizza joints, give this place a try. You’ll love it. Note: the décor reminds me of the J. Geils Band«Freeze Frame» album cover. Good album.

Overall good pizza! It actually reminds me of Godfather’s and some Minsky’s pizza I’ve had. I ordered a small with three-cheese and Italian sausage on one half. I can’t say it is the best pizza I’ve had. In my opinion, the crust was a little airy and lacked unique bold favor. I actually would have given this place 3.5 stars but thought it deserves better than«okay». * The dining room was nice and clean when I was there * Decent pizza although the crust is lacking some bold favor * Cooked wonderful with plenty of golden brown melted cheese * Love the«stringy» cheese * Unfortunately it is a far drive from Olathe, Kansas
