Um… I’m just here to review the café located in the Outdoor Adventures rafting and adventure shop. They serve coffee and baked goods in a beautiful big dining room full of historic photos and memorabilia from the surrounding almost-​ghost town of Index. Right behind the café is the beautiful North Fork Skykomish River, and in front and far above the front of the café is the Index town wall… an impressive sight year-​round. I stopped by on a winter weekend day to get something hot to drink and ended up having AMAZING coffee and about 30min of entertainment in the form of conversations with the owner, his wife and a local dude named Tom.
If you are traveling Rt. 2 and in need of a coffee pit-​stop, I recommend the 1 mile side-​trip off the highway to what appears to be the only legit business in tiny little Index, WA.
