A&M Bakery Cafe

After purchasing a livingsocial for A&M Bakery Café I generously treated my husband to lunch. My grilled cheese and tomato basil soup were exactly what I needed on a cold winters day, and my husband’s egg salad sandwich was clearly freshly made with pieces of chopped pickles adding a delectable crunch.
I returned one morning several weeks later to try the breakfast menu, and would stake my reputation on the deliciousness of the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, made with perfectly scrambled eggs seasoned with salt and pepper.
The hours are very convenient if one works/​lives downtown — Monday through Friday from 7a to 4p, but not so nice if you’re hoping for a weekend snack.
The décor is nothing special, your typical weekday daytime sandwich shop, but the prices and portion sizes are exceptionally reasonable. What really sets A&M Bakery Café apart, however, is the fact that the owner clearly loves his job, and does his absolute best to make customers feel welcome and special.

I appreciate the home cooking and the gluten free options (like the corn chowder and carrot cake — yummy!!!) It is nice to get «home cooked» food that is gluten free that doesn’t sacrifice taste :-)

George was so great! He was so helpful in advance and very responsive over email. We were late to pick up the cake last night but he stayed until after his closing hours and made it possible for us to still pick up the cake. The cake was perfect – the lettering and decorations were great and the cake tasted wonderful! It was the perfect addition to our graduation celebration and I’m so impressed about how easy George made it for us as customers!

The facility is tight and obscure. The hours are only weekdays. The service is friendly but rushed. Five stars? Yes. The food is fantastic. We had both the stuffed pepper soup and the baked potato soup as well as a chicken wrap. Every bit of it was delicious. Great lunch break spot. Tough location but certainly worth it.
