Alteration Solutions

I started going to Alteration Solutions several years ago and as a «guy» I didn’t know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. Every item I’ve taken over the years has turned out perfectly (suits, sport coats, slacks and shorts) including the enormous bundle I took them when I lost 30 pounds. The owner, Barbara, has always been nice and professional. No problems, good service, fair prices and a candy bowl next to the register.

The owner is unnecessarily rude. I will willingly drive out of my way to a competitor in order to avoid giving this business my money.

This place does fine alterations but I am rating it 1 because of its horrendous customer service. As far as I can tell it is a mother/​daughter business but they are sorely lacking in professionalism.
The first time I went in I was treated extremely rudely and made to feel like I was a nuisance. I chalked it up to someone having a bad day. When I returned to collect my item, I was treated equally bad. I did nothing to provoke this treatment either time (except walk in the door.) Frankly I am not sure how they stay in business.
I never write reviews of any business I use, but this one had me so put off, I needed to write it down. I won’t be going back.

Horrible customer service. The 2 times I’ve been there I have been criticized and belittled. Their work is fine but they treat you like crap while doing it. I’m going elsewhere from now on.

They get the job done well. I’ve used them about a half dozen times, and I find them to be the best on the NW side of town. They were able to salvage a pair of slacks that were totally jacked up when another company hemmed them. They are one of the few places in town that can work with leather. The only downside is that they require payment in advance for all purchases less than $ 50 (I believe that is the amount), but other than that they are top notch.

My brother’s wedding is coming up and I desperately needed my groomsmaid’s dress altered. Since I just moved to Indy in January, I had no idea which places were reputable, etc. I picked this place because it was close to my house.
I expected the dress needed to be hemmed, and taken in at the darts on the bust. It’s a strapless number, so it needs to fit well in the bust department!
I was a little surprised because the gal told me it needed a lot more alterations that I thought. She told me the bust would have to be altered significantly because the dress was designed for someone with more waist and less bust than me. Ha. After much pinning and discussion, I agreed, although I was uncertain what the outcome (or price!) would be.
When I picked the dress up, it fit fabulously. The hem was nice, and I felt way more comfortable in the strapless dress than before they made the alterations. And it only cost $ 85. I was very surprised. The last time I remember getting a dress altered, it was almost the cost of the dress!
I’ll definitely be using Alteration Solutions again.
