AMERICA!!! We have got to stop OVERCHARGING people for a little bit of bacon. Ugh… I absolutely LOVE Duos, however, my last experience was a little disappointing. Also, I always leave feeling like they are a bit overpriced. I am all for cook to order meals but the overall pricing is a bit high. I have experienced their salad bar which is good but not great dressing options. So back to the bacon issue… This morning for breakfast I ordered a breakfast sandwich and it was $ 1.25 to add bacon — ok, that’s doable BUT, when I got my sandwich, it was literally 1 piece of bacon cut in half. I proceeded to ask the chef if I could get another slice and he said, ‘sorry we can’t do that.’ Soooo you mean to tell me I have to pay another $ 1.25 for 1 piece of bacon… I was up-friggin set! So the overcharging of the bacon led me to re-evaluate what I had already been feeling. Even with the overpricing issues and lack of salad dressing options… I will say the service is awesome! The workers are honestly great. So I flirted with 3 stars or 4. I landed on a 3 because let’s be honest, the customer may not be always right but a bad experience can really taint their view of things… Especially when ya mess with my money… $ 1.25 per bacon strip is absurd!

In a medical office. Bad hours. Food was hastily made by a disinterested cook. Probably the worst chicken Caesar wrap ever made as it had barbecue chicken and no Caesar dressing.

Once you get beyond parking and finding this place, the rest is easy. Two words: BALANCEBOWL. It’s truly one of my favorite things. The mix of everything in the bowl goes so well together. It’s so healthy and delicious! I even attempt to make them at home on occasion. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried anything else here, because I can’t get past ordering the balance bowl. When I can make it to Duos for one, it’s truly a treat!

Balance Bowl is life. I think of it as a healthier version of a Chipotle burrito. And is perfect for vegetarians as you can get it with or without chicken. In my opinion, it does need a bit of Sriracha for an added kick but is delicious and filling on its own. I had been a fan of the Duos food truck for years as I found it always offered healthy options. I guess depending on how you look at it, that defeats the purpose of a food truck, but for those on a diet, it is more than appreciated. I finally got the chance to try the physical Duos location out for lunch and I’m so glad I did. Things I like: Open seating concept with more than enough table availability Ease of ordering — cafeteria style(you feel like you’re in an upscale school cafeteria) — there’s no waiter service/long wait times for your food here The experience is totally customizable based on your food preferences/diet/etc. The one thing I did not like: Lack of parking — if you can’t snag one of the visitors’ spots(as they share this space with a rather large office complex), you are SOL. I circled the lot for 10 minutes before giving Duos a call and they recommended I park in the church parking lot at 29th and Illinois. They said that was an area where you would not be towed. So, I had to cross Illinois Street to head in and get lunch but not a huge deal. I’ve also heard of people parking at the Children’s Museum. Overall, I wish Duos would open a location closer to downtown so I could get there more often. They’d certainly get a ton of my money! Cannot recommend stopping by Duos enough if you’re in the area and wanting a healthy and filling lunch experience.

Wow, okay Duos you got me. It’s true, I’m more partial to foods like pie and ice cream but this place has me eating healthy… And liking it. The Balance Bowl is incredible. Everything they put in it combines perfectly. I wish I could elaborate more but I ate it too quickly and joyfully to be able to describe individual ingredients. I would compare the Balance Bowl to a burrito bowl at Chipotle(minus the rice). Very healthy, fresh, and quality food and I will definitely be back. Four stars because Duos is in a hospital so it’s not the coolest environment, but if it’s nice outside, they have great outdoor seating.

We were passing through Indianapolis on the way to Chicago and needed a quick lunch. Sure, we could have stopped at one of the usual complement of fast food restaurants. But we wanted something a little healthier, and a little more original. And so after some searching, we came across Duos Kitchen. A quick review of the menu made it look like it would be right up our alley. The setup sounded a little strange; it’s a cafeteria more than a restaurant. We didn’t quite realize just how much so until we arrived. Sure enough, it’s a cafeteria on the ground floor of an office building. I have to admit, when we first walked in and realized just how much of a cafeteria it was, I had some brief second thoughts. But we forged ahead and I’m glad we did. The balance bowl seems to be a signature dish. The simple description makes it sound like a variety of other similar beans and rice based bowl. But for whatever reason, it stands out as better than other renditions. Maybe it’s the sauce in which the chicken is cooked. Perhaps it’s the addition of spinach. And, then of course there is the sauce with which it’s dressed and which ties it all together. One of the up sides to the cafeteria format is the fact that the food is served FAST. Even factoring in the few blocks of travel from the highway, it was probably faster than a traditional fast food restaurant. The service was great and they were very friendly. In fact, that was one of the highlights. The OTHER highlight was the baked goods. The browned butter chocolate chip cookie is great! If I worked in the building, I’d probably eat there frequently. And if I’m passing by at lunch, again it’d be worth a stop.

If you’ve never had the great honor of devouring a balance bowl, get yourself to Duos stat! The concept is simple — spinach, black beans, quinoa, chicken, other goodies. But the result is SOGOOD. Mouthwatering delicious. I add succulent chicken to mine to «kick it up a notch,» as Emeril Lagasse would say. I’ve been to the Duos Eskenazi location(go there too and visit the Sky Farm on the 7th floor of the hospital), but never Duos Kitchen. I’ll be honest, it took me a while to find, though that was my own confusion. Take Meridian to 30th Street and turn onto 30th(it’s one way) and it’s in a medical group plaza on your left. No signage until you get close to the building. There’s a gate around the complex, but it’s not locked and you can drive into the parking lot. If it looks like an artsy building with lots of glass, you’re in the right place. If you get to Illinois/30th with the dinosaurs popping out of the museum, you’ve gone too far. There are about 20 visitor spots in the parking lot, so I don’t know where else you would park if it was full. Things I love: –SOMUCHSEATING. Indoor and outdoor. –Lovely shaded patio with lots of tables and chairs, looking out at the Children’s Museum –quick and friendly service(the cashier was delightful to talk to) –lots of food options, between a grill area, freshly prepared dishes like the balance/quinoa bowls, and a salad bar –cookies and sweets to tempt you at the check out Things that don’t thrill me: –the inside feels like an office cafeteria(which it kind of is) –hard to find if you don’t know where you’re going

Very good service, food also good. When paying for my check a server name Bobby, treated really bad the front very polite lady. Telling her opinion doesn’t count. That doesn’t look good when she is dealing with a customer.

Luke is the best chef ever. We’re from Chicago, so we know good eats, and this is one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever eaten — vegetarian perfection! I don’t even know if he knows how good his food is, but holy shit. It’s incredible. The difficulty we had finding the place instantly dissolved when we put that first delicious bite in our faces. I had a happy husband, daughter, and infant — plus I was blissed out. Mmmmmm. Our order: Streusel French toast with blueberries on top Spinach and cheese omelette Everything bagel with homemade veggie cream cheese Killer potatoes(which my husband said are the best potatoes he’s ever eaten) Egg biscuit sandwich Homemade granola Basically I died it was so good.

Two big vegan thumbs up for Duo’s food truck! I had the pleasure of enjoying Duo’s fare two days in a row(yup, it was so good the first day that I went back for more) at the Broad Ripple Arts Fair. The vegan selections were clearly marked on the menu board(thank you), and I felt fortunate to find a couple of good choices. The Tomato Artichoke Basil Bisque was excellent, and I wished that I had ordered it on both visits. What I did enjoy both days was the Sugar Snap Salad, which is a meal-sized Kale salad with dried apricots, toasted almonds, sugar snap peas(lots of them), all tossed in a yummy dressing. This salad comes with Feta cheese, and they were happy to leave it off for me. I LOVE me some good vegan dessert too, so I asked about the desserts that were wrapped up at the window, and much to my delight, the Magic Bars were vegan. YAY! Did I mention they were delicous? To top it all off, the sweet girl who was working the truck at the show remembered me from my first visit, which was really nice. Much appreciated friendly touch.

Great food at a reasonable price. Caters to meat lovers and vegans and has good to-go dessert options. A great lunch option if you don’t want to pay a lot for good cooking. This place is actually inside a medical facility. The restaurant is essentially the cafeteria of a medical building.

This place is great. It’s one of my favorite places to grab a vegan lunch in Indy. My favorite is the Vegan Balance Bowl with tofu, and it’s SO good. Check out other Unilocalers’ reviews for the location and extra parking because that was a big help my first time. If you can catch them when they’re open, it’s well worth the trip!

The ultimate in vegetarian comfort food is to be found here. Croquettes, taters, greens, cheesy layered casseroles, seasoned beans, delicious takes on tofu, couscous, & pasticcio will soothe & satisfy. I’m flabbergasted by the multiple choices presented to me every time I come here. That means a lot to veggers, to actually have trouble making up your mind on a menu. They have something for meaters, too; switching between chicken & tofu in an entrée, for example. They have sandwiches & lovely fresh baked desserts. Note they have Red Zinger iced tea — a refreshing alternative to soda fountain offerings. Everything’s really good, but boy oh boy I can’t get enough of their collard greens. Whatever you do, you must try them. Thick mounds of pillowy soft vinegary peppery deliciousness yes! & vegetarian yes! Thank you, Duos. Nice quiet cafeteria setting, never seems to be really busy so it’s a very relaxing atmosphere. Parking is interesting; it’s to the west on the church parking lot, then walk across Illinois street. Watch for zooming traffic! But I’ll dodge cars for Duos any day.

So stoked that I FINALLY had a chance to stop by Duo’s for take-out. I was a bit confused by the location, but all of the tips from fellow Unilocalers were helpful. I was able to make it before they closed at 2p. I know that everyone raves about the Balance Bowl, but for some reason I really wanted to try the oven fried boneless chicken and the killer roasted potatoes, which cost me 7 bucks and some change. While I was driving home I could smell the aroma of my meal from the bag. I couldn’t wait to get home and dig in. The killer roasted potatoes definitely live up to their name. Seasoned nicely with a little kick to them. Delicious! The chicken itself was pretty good. I’ve never had oven fried chicken that was crispy. Good stuff, but my only complaint is that the chicken was a tad bit dry. I can’t wait to go back and check out other menu items including one of those temping desserts!

I’m giving Duos an ENTHUSIASTIC five stars. I’m an omnivore with herbivorous tendencies, and this eatery totally made me wanna jump all the way over to the plant side. Don’t get me wrong, they have some delicious meat options and add-ins, but their veggie stuff??! YES! I ordered the balance bowl with the chicken add-in, and as yummy as it was, after about two bites I was almost dodging the chicken! Now aside from the food being fantastic, the staff was awesome and helpful. They offered up suggestions and recommendations and most importantly, smiles. They were fabulous! In short, try ‘em out. The end. :)

This is a 3.5 star review that has been rounded up because the concept is something I can get down with! Duos is the cafeteria-style lunch spot serving fresh, healthy food that’s available faster than the McDrivethru. The white bean soup was more flavorful that I expected, as well as more filling. The Balance Bowl was definitely satisfying and left me feeling healthy and happy. My only complaint is that is was a touch heavy on sweet dressing for a healthy dish and I’d prefer a little more of the brown rice to make it feel like a hot meal. As it was, the Balance Bowl was a riff on a spinach salad. A really fresh riff, however. Near the register you will find: An attractive assortment of bars, granola, cookies, and other snacks An impressive variety of San Pellegrino drinks in a can Some frozen treats Location: Inside the medical office building. It took me a few sweeps around the block to find Duos, but once I situated myself onto 30th street and pulled south into the small lot across from the Children’s Museum, I only had to follow the signs. If I can find it, you can find it. And it will be worth it!

My simple request: Oh veggie Gods(or Duos as you call yourselves), could you please give some serious thought to packing up your kitchen and relocating to Fletcher Place? I promise to be your dearest and most loyal customer. Just an idea. I’ll let you mull it over. In the meantime, I’m sitting here stuffing my face in the healthy goodness that is the balance bowl — a bed of spinach topped with rice, diced red peppers, hard boiled egg, black beans, scallions and a tasty mystery red pepper aioli-like sauce. I typically add a healthy dose of Sriracha to give it one more kick(not that it’s not flavorful enough on its own). Becky almost convinced me to go for the«Hostetter family classic» nutloaf today served with mashed potatoes and collard greens. Despite my love for the balance bowl, I’m experiencing a minor case of buyer’s remorse for not taking her recommendation and mixing it up. I called ahead to make sure my beloved gluten free coconut macaroons were on hand. Twice as good as I remember. A few other sweets that caught my eye when checking out(clever consumer placement;): poppyseed cake layered with cream, baked butter chocolate chip cookies, fudgey brownies, banana cake with buttercream icing and many more. Two words: «lunch heaven.»

OMGOMGOMG– Having recently returned to vegetarianism, quite a few friends have started acting as if I have some sort of affliction or just got a hysterectomy or something. It’s really not that weird, y ‘all. I eat the same stuff as you, just without the bacon. However, now and then there is a special place that caters to those of my newly re-adopted ilk, making us feel as normal as a 5-day, 40 hour work week(not that I know what that’s like). There are many amazing options, but my current biggest crush is the tofu stroganoff. Oh. My. God. I can’t even remember the rest of the awesome stuff on the menu, captivated as I am by this dish, but lots of creative vegetarian – no measly french fries, plain pasta or yawn-worthy salad. This place not only caters to vegetarians, but vegetarians who still value their taste buds. Make haste– it’s a best of Indy!
