Garrett’s Smokehouse Barbecue

I just have to say this place is absolutely phenomenal. We just had their smoked wings and a half a pound of chopped brisket both with the hot bbq sauce. AMAZING. The sauce is so delicious and I’ve never tasted anything like it. The smoked wings are literally hands down the best wings I have ever had, and I’ve had a lot of wings before. I LOVE WINGS. the brisket was perfect. The lady who took our order over the phone was so friendly and professional and even when my husband picked up the food she was very friendly. It was very refreshing to get good customer service! And amazing food. I HIGHLY recommend this place. Best bbq in Indy!!!

The best n my area… The turkey ribs are sooo good. The people who work there are super friendly. It’s a great place…

Hole in the wall place close to where I live. Thought I would give it a shot on a Sunday afternoon. Staff was nice and the food was great. Huge portions on the cheap. Rib tips were great with the spicy barbecue sauce.

Best rib tips I’ve ever had with a hint of garlic. Tender and meaty! Delicious! A must try!

Garrett’s is the most authentic BBQ smokehouse I’ve been to around Indy. They know how to make delicious, tender and juicy BBQ. The employees are friendly and they’ve got a loyal customer basis. Hours are a little wacky but stop in on a Friday for lunch you won’t regret it trust me!

My first time visiting for lunch today. The ribtips were awesome. Very tender and I loved the mild sauce. However, the mac n chz and greens were about as bland as it can get. No seasoning at all. Especially the mac n cheese. Ribs were good, sides need help.

I thought this place was mediocre. Ordered from Order In so being it was delivered may have played a part to be fair. But either way it was just average. The brisket and pulled pork was chewy and not tender, and the baked beans were really rich and thick. The potato salad was very average. The corn muffins are SO yummy, I think they add cinnamon which is a nice twist. Those were my fave. I wouldn’t order here again but wasn’t terrible, just very average.

Sign on the door said open. The hours posted said open. Door was locked. Seems odd to have a restaurant that claims to be open but isn’t. Have to give 1 star because we checked the hours posted and returned and it wasn’t open yet.

My family just discovered Garrett’s this summer and can’t get enough! Our favorite is the smoked chicken– it is a must-​try. Some of the best chicken we have ever had. It’s juicy and has that great smoky flavor. You can get a whole chicken or just wings, and at a very reasonable price.
The pulled pork has also always been extremely moist and delicious. The sauces are great, especially the sweet and hot.
We also love the sides we’ve tried. The sweet potato fries are house made, and are nice and crispy on the outside. The cole slaw is awesome, especially the spicy one. But beware it is really hot! And last but not least the baked beans are delicious and sweet, but a little too rich for me.
My only complaint is that we ordered the pulled chicken one time and it was pretty dry. We decided we will stick to the smoked chicken from now on.

I have had Garrett’s twice since I moved here to Indy. Both times, I liked their food. I usually get one of the family deals since Its such a long drive for me coming from the westside, so I can’t frequent as much as I would like to. With the alternative being King Ribs, I would make the drive twice around the city. Good ribs. Good price.

I recently went to Garrett’s Smokehouse for a gathering with friends. This was my second visit to this location. To be honest, the first time I visited this establishment, I didn’t dislike it, but it didn’t really stick out either. The food was just ok. I am really glad I gave this place a second chance because they won me over during this visit. The restaurant was clean and simply decorated. I was impressed by how accommodating the owners/​staff were to our party which was a fairly large group of people to fit in their small dining area. The staff including the owners and our waitress, «Lil’ Mama», went above and beyond to make our visit pleasant. I ordred the large rib tip special. It was simply delicious! For 12 dollars and some cents, I ended up making three meals out of one! The meat was cook perfectly and not too much fat either. My sides were the sweet potato fries and mac and cheese. The sweet potato fries were so very good. I am not sure if they added honey or cinnamon to give it such a unique taste. My only complaint is that the fries were crispier than I normally prefer. We also enjoyed their lemon cake, which was moist and flavorful. Overall, this was a great experience. I believe Garrett’s just bumped King Ribs of the position as my favorite bbq joint.

I feel kind of bad to say this. But eh. I was surely disappointed. Our meat tasted like it was cooked a few days back, frozen then reheated in a microwave.
We went to an event not too long ago that had Garrett’s as the caterer, the food tasted totally different than then. Succulent, juicy and tasty. The complete opposite of the time we went last time. It’s like they served us left-​overs or something.

Not sure if it was because we ordered a half hour before closing or if it is this bad all the time at this place. The pulled pork and ribs that we ordered were EXTREMELY dry, both with the consistency of jerky. It may have been that they had been sitting under the lights all day and dried out or that they do not make good BBQ. Though we called at 5:30 on a Sunday which is when people have dinner not at like 9:30 p.m. It is a real shame as this is close to where we live and in a strip mall where everything seems to fail.
