The food was good, but the menus kept sticking to whatever film was on the table. It was Wednesday, so that means ½ price appetizers after 8pm, ½ price mixology drinks and $ 6.99 burgers, which we got all of. Then… we got the bill and the appetizer and the $ 8 mixology drink were full price. When I asked about it, he said the drink WAS supposed to be ½ price, he messed up, BUT you can only get one ½ price food item. I guess they forgot to put that on the specials menu and the waiter forgot to say that when, specials menu in hand, I ordered all that. Not only that, but by giving me the $ 6.99 burger special instead of the ½ price appetizer, it was $ 1 more, for no reason other than he didn’t care to pick the one that worked out best for the customer. Overall, having to look over my bill and have it corrected and then being told I got too many of the big Wednesday specials and despite what all the signs said, I was wrong, just made me never want to go back. It was only $ 5 more than expected, but the giant specials menu at the door and on my table apparently comes with invisible fine print that you only hear about when it’s time to pay.

I must say, I wasn’t really expecting much when a friend suggested that we eat here. The moment we walked in we were greeted by a server«You can sit anywhere you like». Walking to our table of choice, I noticed the restaurant was fairly empty. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ended up ordering the«Jacks Kick’n Burger» with waffle fries… THEBEST!!! I also ordered an Mixology drink«Grindstones Punch»…Delicious. This place has definitely earned a new customer. Highly recommended! It was a very nice establishment with the friendliest staff. The environment couldn’t have been any better. Overall, I was pleased and I will be returning. My only negative thing to say about this night was The Laminated menu’s were a little hard to read due to the glare coming from the lights.

If you live on the west side and aren’t eating here your making a mistake! The lunch menu is awesome! It’s my go to place when by Speedway. I haven’t had one bad thing on the menu.

I love this place. The service is great, the food is great and the price is right! My first time there I had the Classic buffalo wings and the tenderloin, it was AMAZING. Looking forward to going back!

Grindstone’s is still top notch for consistency and I’m glad some things never change. My wife and I have been coming here for probably thirteen years and we’ve never once, ever had a memorably bad experience. The food has always arrived quickly and was delicious. They remodeled the inside maybe a couple of years ago and removed some of the«crap on the walls» that was typical in restaurants in years gone by. Aside from that, it’s still the same old place. Batman still works behind the bar. You can still get the Charley’s Chopper and those fried green tomatoes are still just as tasty as ever. I would highly recommend the french onion soup and I would advise to stick to the basics when deciding from the menu. Burgers and fries, sandwiches, steaks and shrmps. The Mexican and Asian dishes were just kind of so-so. They have a bigger selection of craft beers now but be cautioned that most of them are bottled and not on tap. Still, though, I love this place and it’s a solid default when I just want somewhere I can count on to have a good meal and great service.

I went here with a couple other friends while our guys were spending the day at the race track — and I would say we would probably stop back in. Kind of your average chain restaurant, but I will say that the service was excellent and our server was very kind and courteous with us. The menu was okay — again — nothing special — but definitely not bad. I got the Vegetable Stir Fry and thought it was pretty good! And my friends got salads and sandwiches and were all also very pleased! I wish I could say more about this place, but again — it didn’t blow me out of the water, but I also wasn’t disappointed. Definitely a safe place to eat! ;)

I stopped here after the MotoGP race which I was in town for. It was early, before dinner rush, around 4:30 and the sign said to seat myself which always worries me a bit because I wonder if any servers would know if I was there. I sat in a cozy booth by the bar and the bartender was the one who waited on me. He was really good and did a great job. I asked him about the different local beers and I picked one that I really ended up liking. I had loaded tater tots which were excellent. Boneless wings, very tasty. And I tried their fried green tomatoes. I have never had these before so I didn’t know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. They were very good. An overall great experience and I will definitely go back when I come into town again next year!

Grindstone Charley’s website reads that they use the«freshest ingredients». I would say that getting brown lettuce in a salad is not exactly fresh, and that is what happened on our visit this past Monday. I got the buffalo chicken salad(sidenote: it comes with candied walnuts, which seems out of place in this type of salad, but what do I know), which consisted mainly of big hunks of iceberg lettuce cores and a few pieces of browning lettuce, dry buffalo chicken pieces, some tomatoes and two slices of mozzarella cheese(yes, slices). The menu read that the salad comes with garlic toast, but I didn’t receive any. My daughter got garlic toast with her salad, but gave it to me since it was burnt on the bottom. Overall, the food isn’t great and the ingredients do not seem fresh. The dining room wasn’t very clean and the staff seemed apathetic. It was also extremely loud in the dining area, which I think was the combination of a large party and music that was a bit too loud. I won’t be back to this location any time soon.

Excellent excellent service and food quality. This has become one of our weekly spots to eat. Especially in Tuesdays. Their special is Tenderloin Sandwich with one side for $ 6.00. Its a huge sanwhich too. Ask for Courtney as your server. She is the best!

I had the lunch special. It was turkey Manhattan. It wasn’t bad. I thought it might be lunch meat turkey but I was wrong. The service was ok.

I had the house made chicken & noodles served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and sweet roll off the lunch menu. It was decent.

I always enjoy Grindstone Charley’s and seldom have problems with anything. Our service is good, yummy options on the menu with many specials. Todays’s interest for me was the Drunken tenderloin sandwich… had to be good with that name. It’s a grilled tenderloin with a house made Jack Daniels Honey Bourbon sauce topped off with bacon, pepper jack cheese and onion straws on toasted bun with waffle fries.(Did I mention not diet appropriate?) Tenderloin was tender and the sauce added wonderful flavor. It didn’t disappoint. Hubby’s meal was one of his go to favorites which basically was my meal without the bourbon sauce. His grilled tenderloin with waffle fries made him happy and cooked as he liked. My regular here is the Spinach Salad and now that its back is the Triple Berry Spinach Salad. Give those a try if you enjoy a good salad. Good service tonight and food arrived quickly. Really Busy night at the bar. Nice place to hangout with the regulars. Great drinks specials.

Originally reviewed 2÷19÷13 on the Rockville Rd location but realized today this was the wrong location. We personally love this place — and only after two visits! First visit, we both tried the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. We loved it. We ordered the onion rings as a substitute. The only complaint is on the number of rings we got, only 4 or 5. So for the up charge, I suggest don’t get it. This second time we went was this last Wednesday. My wife ordered a Long Island ice tea and she said it was 90% alcohol! That’s all she needed for the night! ;) She ordered the buffalo chicken again and was just as good as last time she said. I ordered the Huck Finn Catfish Dinner with tater tots and their green beans. Our daughter ordered the mini corn dogs and tater tots. My catfish was ordered fried, but they also have it Cajun-style. I must say, it was some of the best catfish I’ve ever eaten! This comes from someone who grew up with catfish as a staple! We not only caught our own, but also ordered it from our favorite local restaurant. The tater tots were done just right and the green beans were good enough(cooked with a little bacon) that I was literally scraping the bowl they came in! Our bill for all above, with a LIT and a beer, came to under $ 40 plus the tip. The portions are large and not bad in price. We hope to become regulars here, yes, it’s that good! Their menu and prices are listed on their web page. Totally worth it! This most recent visit, we still enjoyed. I ordered a burger and my favorite tater tots and still enjoyed! Don’t forget to checkin on foursquare! They currently have a special going for check ins! % off your dinner!!!

I have only had take out from this restaurant. The portions were small and under seasoned. Good thing it was not expensive, so I was not completely peeved. The best thing was the bread pudding but it was 2 bites and we got it to share… really it was smaller than 2 french fries. Thumbs Down, 1 star!

Having been in the area for a week already, I was in my car(the only benz in the area apparently) — and a gang of motorcycle riders come in to the place. Well, having worked all day, I was in my suit — obvious who the driver of the car was… Ah great — I“m going to have to kick some more biker ass. And here I left my cape and mask at home! IDIOT! I can take em’. I’ve watch countless number of fight scenes, and was a bonafide superhero when I was 8 years old! This will be over for them in seconds. I guess they saw death in my eyes, because the mood changed really fast — and they sat across the other side of the bar. Quiet. I win again. Or so I imagined it that way. The truth is, these really nice guys who ride bikes come in, compliment me on my car, and sat across the bar because the chairs next to me were taken by other good hearted people! We were joking, talking, and buying one another driks. I really enjoyed this place. The feeling was nice, and the people were even nicer.

This is not a bad place to grab a quick bite to eat. The food is well prepared and certainly blows places like T.G.I. Friday’s and Applebee’s out of the water. I usually eat a light lunch here – French onion soup(which is really good!) and a salad(which is on the high-side of mediocre). The food comes quickly, and the waitstaff has always quickly refilled my $ 2.39 Diet Coke. I have no real complaints.

A local success story, Grindstone Charley’s began in 1966 and now has 8 locations betwix Ohio and Indiana. It kinda looks like Applebee’s on the inside but has enough rough edges to put your soul at ease. Their claim to fame is their tenderloin. It’s legit. Let’s look at the results. –The Bun Sesame seed bun and lightly toasted… good stuff… not home made but good –The Fixins Great move by selecting shredded lettuce… I dont know why but I love shredded lettuce and wish more places would utilize it. Everything else is fairly standard: sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, pickle spear. –The Main Event Grindstone Charley’s delivers a sizable sandwich that appears to be pounded to the size of the plate. The tenderloin was too salty and it tasted like they needed to change their cooking oil. Good crunch on the coating. Overall it was a solid outing. Go to Grindstone Charleys when the in-laws are in town and are adamant about going to a place like Chili’s or Applebee’s.
