I hate to give this place a two, I really do. I like what they’re doing with music and entertainment, and the food is decent. Actually, pretty darn good for bar food. But the place is ALWAYS dirty. I have seen several friends play here, and being a good friend, I do my best to support them. Saturday night, our table was sticky with some unknown substance(I’m not sure I WANT to know), and after setting in my chair… I had to literally peel myself out of it. If they’d just clean up a bit, it could be a real hot spot for the south side.

Thursday and Sunday are my jam. Lizards wings are 25 cents on these days. This place is my go to spot on the southside. I love it all. The dark, dingy, divey ambiance. The somewhat shady clientele. The beer and wing specials. The music acts. It is just my spot. $ 3 pitchers of Nati Light on Thursdays? I dont even like Nati Light, but at Lizards for $ 3…I drink it. The wings are out of this world and close to #1 on my list. The mombo sauce is a mix of terriaki, bbq and hot sauce. I get it every time with a side of spicy garlic for dipping. They are always cooked perfectly and sauced the same. I have seen others order other things off the menu and it all looks great. I know for sure the pizza is on point, as are the bacon cheese fries. Please visit Lizards because they always say they are just holding on, even though it is always packed on the days I am there.

I am changing my star rating… yes it is a dive so what, you get what you pay for which in this case is great drinks and good bar food at a fantastic price. Every time Stacy(bartender) tells me my total I feel like I should owe more– because that is what I am used to paying around town. So if you like a low key and cheap drinks, this is your place. Open Mic is now on Wednesday evenings for any musicians looking to have some fun!

What I thought was a pleasant night of shooting some pool and having a few beers, I was hassled by(what I might guess to be) meth heads that called me a hillbilly for playing The Doors and Steve Winwood on the jukebox. Baffling. Check please.

Ok, I’ve only been here once, which was very recently. But, I know this place is hurting financially and I want to post an honest first-time experience review. I really like this place. I came here a couple of weeks ago for a Lizards fund-raiser and had a great time. This is a clean dive-bar music venue with good acoustics, great service from nice employees, pretty darn good food and very decent drink specials. I definitely want to return soon(and I really don’t know why I’ve never been here before.) But, I vow to write a follow-up review if my next visit isn’t as charming as my first.

I want to see a band that is scheduled to play at Lizards. Never been to Lizards so I thought I would check it out before showing up for the upcoming show. What a filthy place! The blinds/windows/ceilings/vents obviously haven’t been cleaned since the smoking ban. It just wreaked of smoke! I wouldn’t even think of sitting in a chair there let alone ordering food. I couldn’t stand the smell and left after my 30 second observation of the place Sad, just plain sad.

This is a good dive bar and there is a good amount of live music. The thing you may not think about, though, is their food. Lizard’s is one of my favorite restaurants in town. The food is excellent and well priced. Not your average bar food. They have, hands down, the best wings in town. Some other great menu items I recommend is the buffalo chicken wrap, cheeseburger wrap(trust me), chicken cordon bleu, their sliders on Wednesday nights(50 cents a piece), and the lizard burger. And the potato soup is fantastic. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a family restaurant type place by any means, but if you’re looking for wings or a burger, this is the place. It’s all made to order by cooks who actually care about their work. Just try it. You will be glad you did
