Long’s Mattress – Castleton

Great selection, Great prices and very knowledgeable staff.
I bought 3 mattress sets and they explained why each set would be best for what I needed.
They explained the benefits for paying for it all up front versus financing as well which was very helpful.
The added bonus is that their mattresses (Bowles) are made right here in Indiana!

No pressure here just lots of lying around, lol. We had been shopping for a mattress, but the commercial about the mattress being made in Indiana led us here. It seemed like we saved, but the mattress we picked was local and very comfortable. A photo in the store shows all the employees at the factory (20 or so) and the owners. He had met them and it is a genuinely family business with sincere desires to make an excellent product. I am sure our new bed will hold up for years.

Great business with quality mattresses, good warranties and a knowledgable employee in Corrie. Mattresses were priced lower or comparable to Macy’s and American mattress. If that isn’t enough Bowles mattresses are made in Indiana. Local business!!!

Bought two mattresses at Long’s in Avon today. Brad was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Absolutely no pressure. Great experience.

After trying some other mattress stores in the area, and not being impressed with the quality and prices of the big name mattresses, we stopped by Long’s to see how Bowles mattresses compared. We were under the assumption that a locally made mattress from a small company would not be in our budget. However, when we checked the prices at Long’s the mattresses were cheaper, as well as higher quality.
We knew pretty much what we were looking for when we went into Long’s (a latex/​memory foam mattress), so we didn’t have too many questions for the salesman. The questions we did have he was able to answer.
They only deliver twice a week, so we did have to wait about a week longer than we would have at a big name store for our mattress to come in. But when you’re buying something for 8 – 10 years a week doesn’t make too big of a difference. The delivery men were polite and courteous. It’s only been three months, but the mattress is doing great.

If I came here first, I would have thought the service was pretty good. However, we tried a different mattress store first, and the difference was night and day. The service person at Long’s answered every question asked, but was not proactive at assessing our needs. It is amazing how much goes into finding a good mattress, and had we not been somewhere else first, we would not have even known what to ask.
That said, if you know exactly what you want, and you want to save a bundle, this is the place for you. Long’s has been in business for 25 years and they sell only Bowles mattresses. Bowles is an Indiana company that has been in business even longer than Long’s. It was hard to fully assess the quality in the 30 minutes we were there, but the mattresses seem at first blush to be at or only slightly below the quality of a Sealy or some other name brands. And the cost was around $ 500 less than comparable name brand mattresses.
We are still on the fence about which mattress to buy. If we purchase from here, this review will be updated with that experience.

We were very impressed with this store. After visiting several other mattress stores, we got a great deal on the most comfortable mattress we tried. The sales representative was very up-​front and honest, giving us the best deal he could. We also felt more at ease purchasing from a local store instead of nation-​wide chain. Long’s want to be sure that we love the mattress purchased and have a period of time that we are able to try out the mattress and exchange if needed. In addition, the 2 mattress that we decided between were made of organic cotton and bamboo which is important to me and something we didn’t find elsewhere.

got me in the door. Their ad says that a) Bowles is an Indiana manufacturer, and b) since Bowles doesn’t have any national ad campaigns, you’re paying for the matress, not the ads.
At first I thought that was just a come-​on, and I was expecting to pay $ 50 to $ 100 more for an Indiana-​made mattress at a furniture store that wasn’t a discount store (as opposed to a Serta brand mattress at Big Lots).
However, after actually checking out the Serta mattresses at Big Lots, I ended up spending no more on an equivalent quality Bowles. Plus Long’s has delivery (and removal), whereas with Big Lots I would have had to borrow a friend’s truck, and done the ugly thing of leaving the old foundation sticking out of the dumpster.
The store manager, Terry, was not pushy; there was no pressure; and he treated me the way I wanted to be treated as a customer. I left and compared the Serta mattresses, and came back here and bought a mattress and foundation.
The store headquarters called me the next day to schedule delivery, and the guys in the truck were there when they said they’d be. They deliver on Saturdays too. Delivery guys were polite.
Compare things like number of coils, thickness of foam on top of the coils, and whether the mattress has foam on the sides covering the coils. Bowles comes with a 10 year non-​pro-​rated warranty.
My old mattress was past due to be replaced, and I knew I didn’t want a cheap motel quality mattress (a la Motel 6 or Super 8). So I knew that price wasn’t going to be the only factor, but I still want value for what I do spend.
So, I think their radio ad about Bowles may be correct.
The display mattresses at this store go up to the $ 1500 (per set) range. Bowles makes even less expensive mattresses that the store can order from the factory if Long’s doesn’t stock it. If you want a lower cost one than what they have here check out the Bowles web site, or drive down to Long’s Franklin store to see the lesser expensive ones.
They even sent me a thank-​you post card in the mail after a few days. Nice touch.
