This is probably the most relaxing bar in Indy. We went to the tiki bar and it is like a place you see on a movie. It does fill up though. I did not experience slow service let’s just say they are on «island time». The music is relaxing. The décor is fun. It is a nice break from reality. The tacos are amazing. The nachos and salsa are good. I had the Pain Killer is amazing. Really took me back to being on a cruise. It was also $ 2 spicy tequila shot night so I couldn’t pass that up. I seriously love this place so much

In honor of Revolucion’s Tex-Mex-iness, I will be using the title of a popular Southwestern movie to format my review. :oP THEGOOD: Our server was very friendly and professional. Lovely potato, vegetable, and shrimp tacos. Tasty mango salsa to top some of said tacos. Pretty tasty homemade hot sauces. Nice décor and atmosphere. THEBAD: Service was slooow due to the restaurant being understaffed on a busy weekend night. The chips and salsa aren’t free and they charge you for refills. Guac is overpriced($ 5.95 for half a cup at best). THEUGLY: The tilapia in our fish tacos was obviously off — it tasted overly fishy, metallic, and«dirty,» if that makes sense. My friend and I each took one bite and that was it for us. We complained to our server, who checked in with the owner and returned to repeat that«no one else complains about them» and«they make the fish ahead and freeze it» in an attempt to explain the taste. We were surprised when we were billed for the tacos and asked to speak with the owner, who launched into a condescending, defensive tirade immediately upon arrival. She repeated the«no one else complains» and«we freeze the fish ahead of time» arguments, accused us of finishing the tacos when we had each only taken one bite, insinuated we didn’t know what tilapia should taste like(lady, I grew up in New England and currently live an hour from the Virginia seacoast, don’t try to talk to me about seafood), and generally did her best to completely ignore the oldest customer service adage in the book: the customer is always right. She did eventually comp us for the tacos, but no one in my party of four will be returning here again any time soon.

My friend and I came on a busy Friday night when every where in Fountain Square was slammed! We were lucky enough to make our way outside on a beautiful night and find a table on the patio adjacent to the Tiki bar! It was beautiful! Tables, chairs, umbrellas, lava rock fire pits, strings of paper lanterns glowing, and twinkling lights! It was a beautiful night with a great atmosphere. We ordered the fresh chips and guacamole which was quite tasty! But I did have to order a side of salsa to complement it. I also tried the pork al pastor tacos which come two to an order with a healthy serving or meat inside. The flavor was great! The drink menu is fabulous! We tried the painkiller and it is fabulous! Tropical flavors with a little nutmeg on top! I felt no pain! This is a great casual spot! They could have used a few more servers the night we were there to make their service run a little more smoothly, but our waitress was working hard!

Walked right in on a Friday night 730pm and sat down immediately with no wait. 5 mins later the waiter came by. We placed our drink and app order(chips and guacamole). 10 mins later the chips came out. 5 mins after that the drinks came out(a soda and a can of beer). Waiter then took our order and told us it was a 45 min wait for the food? Yet the place wasn’t even close to full. Wife order 2 tacos I ordered a burger. Tacos were average. Burger was average. Fries were terrible, no flavor, no seasoning. I’d rather have McDonald’s fries. This place is very over rated.

Absolutely our favorite bar and restaurant in our neighborhood! We are totally regulars and typically come 1−2x per week. In the summer we love sitting on the back tiki patio. This place is just good — good service, good food, good beer. We love that the waitresses that have been there awhile know us.(Btw, where are the sisters!!! We miss them!) My go-to items are the pork or beef tacos; they look small but will fill you up. We always start with the queso and chips — SO good — but I also like the bean dip, patatas bravas, or nachos if you have a larger groups. My hubs loves the burgers. Do yourself a favor and check out this great neighborhood gem! It’s unpretentious and welcoming, which is sometimes tough to find in our hipster, fountain square hood. We LOVE it.

They had Zombie Dust on tap. what else do you need to know?! My friends tell me the margaritas are amazing as well. The guac and cheese are really good for appetizers and I do recommend the shrimp tacos and nachos. They don’t have reservations or someone to seat you so getting a table can be pretty cutthroat! Every time i’ve gone it’s been a full house with even the tiki bar in the back filled up. Love the location– close to everything and is a good starting point for a night out.

The potato tacos are amazing! I would normally eat chicken or fish tacos but decided to try something different. The flavor was great and the tacos are overflowing with small potato chunks. My boyfriend ordered the blackbean burger. We both enjoyed that as well. I was surprised we weren’t offered chips and salsa with dinner, which I find common at any Mexican restaurant. Not sure if this is normal or if we just failed to receive any! Our server was fun and informative. We did sit out on the back patio, which is a must in good weather! Walk straight to the back and past the tiki bar. The only down fall for this first experience was that we did order an appetizer which was not brought to us. By the time our food came we decided we no longer wanted it, which the server understood and removed from our bill.

Came here today for the first time and was not impressed at all. After tasting my friend’s food I actually ended up not ordering anything. He had pork tacos and a side order of fries. The fries had no seasoning on them whatsoever; think school cafeteria fries… but possibly worse. Honestly they probably should be removed from the menu altogether. The pork had good flavor but was dry. It came with a side of diced onions and a sprinkle of cilantro. Classic garnishes, only if the meat is prepared well. There were 4 sauce options on the table to choose from as well. We both had house margaritas which were just so-so. Nothing to rave about, but they were also on special for $ 4 so can’t complain there.

Mexican eats, beer on tap, and tequila-based cocktails? Reasonably priced. Chill artsy vibes? Free of charge. I’ve been to Revoluction several times now, both on dates and with groups of friends. Located in downtown Fountain Square, it’s a great spot to grab a bite before First Friday or the next show at the Hi-Fi. With a mixture of large community tables and two-tops, it easily accommodates large and small groups for dinner. In addition, they have seating at the bar, as well as another standing bar, if you just want to grab a pint. I’ve still yet to make it to their outdoor patio, which is a bummer because I’ve heard it’s on of the best in town! The service isn’t great. It’s adequate, but could definitely be faster/more attentive. However, if you’re just chatting with friends/family over dinner and aren’t in a hurry, this is almost preferred. Their tacos are a close second to Bakersfield for me, but you definitely get more for you money at Revolucion, which is always appreciated. I’ve had both the Pastor(pork) and Fish(tilapia) tacos — both were good, but Fish are my favorite. The chips and guacamole aren’t anything to write home about, but are a good compliment to the tacos. What’s really cool about Revolucion is their rack of salsas made in house! Make sure you order chips or try them with your food. Revolucion also has a full bar, including many beers on tap. But they are first and foremost a tequila bar, so all of their signature cocktails are tequila-based(not to say you couldn’t order something else). I tried the El Diablo, which is a cocktail containing tequila, ginger beer, and lime. De-lish. I’m on a ginger beer kick, but have never had it with tequila! I definitely recommend it! They also have $ 2 tequila shot specials most nights, if you’re into that sort of thing. All in all, I love the atmosphere at Revolucion and will be back for their reasonably priced food and El Diablo, once more!

The tiki bar gets 4 stars: appropriate atmosphere, traditional tiki drinks(so if someone time traveled from the 60’s they wouldn’t miss a beat menu wise), drinks that have a flame component(great entertainment if you are already buzzed). I’m sad this is only open during warmer months. The size is small so if it’s a busy night it might be packed. It’s only open till 12am. What a bummer I could overindulge in Tiki drinks till 3am. The other part of the bar is more like a 2 and a half. In the past when I have gone in and wanted food, the kitchen has closed at 9(this might have changed since its been awhile since I have ordered food for myself) What? That’s a bit early. My fiancé really enjoys the torpedo burger(it’s really spicy and he just loves to embarrass himself by being overpowered by spice). I am fine with the guac and fish tacos but not too impressed with anything beyond that. As others have stated I do enjoy the hot sauces they bring you to sample I like to put them on chips to try. The service can be lacking at times. Decent margaritas. Overall: stay open longer, head straight to the tiki bar.

As noted, the Tiki bar in the back is the star of the show here. I love the vibe when I’m there and the decorations are interesting and fun to look at. The frozen drinks are all very well done and all tend to be on the strong side. Tacos — the beef and pork are flavorful, with the beef being a bit spicy. The chicken is pretty bland, slightly better if you slather it with every kind of sauce you can get your hands on. The guacamole is average. Definitely not made to order and pretty bland. The salsa is also pretty bland… I’d love to see them really improve both of these. The front part of the bar is not a bad place to meet with friends for a couple of drinks and maybe some quick food before seeing a show at The White Rabbit(next door) Hi Fi, or Radio Radio. And since it’s Fountain Square, the people watching is always good.

I had the nachos with pork. The meat was sweet which wasn’t my favorite, and for the size of the plate, not very proportional. If they’d serve the plate with some salsa or something then maybe I wouldn’t have felt cheated. Overall, I’ve felt like I’ve had better at fast food alternatives. If the drinks had been exceptional, I’d look past the average food, however that also was not a strong mark. The atmosphere was nice and is probably their strength.

I love the tiki bar tucked away at the back of the restaurant. If you are there on warm day, you might forget you are in Indianapolis. The cocktails are delicious. I particularly like the dark and stormy. I am not sure what to think of the beer selection. It’s been hit or miss, and they don’t have many tap lines. The tacos are decent, and are elevated by the sauces. The mean greenie is my favorite, and they have many to choose from.

Love the place(cool décor), love the drinks(pack a punch), love the service(spot on and friendly), love the nachos(simply beautiful to look at, delicious to eat). Do NOT like how plain the tacos look, the lack of presentation alone(especially compared to the fabulous nacho display) makes me shy away from them. I feel I get such a better deal with the nachos than with the puny looking tacos, so much so that I haven’t even tried them. One more gripe… getting a little extra guacamole will set you back about 6 bucks. apparently there is not a side order of guac, so they charge for a full order of guac and chips… I find that ridiculous. Live and learn. Everything else is awesome, so I just learn what to avoid here.

Skip the Revolucion front space and head straight for the tiki bar hidden through the back. It’s like entering a new world, with a great fenced in patio and all the tropical island décor you would hope for. It feels like a speakeasy oasis with good food and bright, fun drinks. Great for hanging out with a small group around their fire pit.

AWESOME experience at this funky joint. Server was super friendly and had the bartender make us off-menu drinks. Mixologist was on point. Food? HELLYES. Black bean burger(hold the bun) with chips and salsa– divine!

This place is pretty cool. They have a nice patio«Tiki» Bar area and decent margaritas. Based on other Unilocal reviews-the margaritas are fantastic. I am kind of a margarita snob and I just found them to be slightly above average. The food menu looked good and consisted mostly of tacos. I did not try any so my review is strictly based on the atmosphere, drinks and bartender friendliness. If you are in the area– I would say stop by and try lunch if it is a nice day and you can sit outside.

Da na na not na! Tequila! — You know the song… I digress… Cantina Cantina! …sorry…for real this time. Disfrutalo!
