Inverness Store is in the quirky town on the other side of the San Andreas Fault. It’s a one-stop shop for the locals, with a local, unpretentious vibe. Like the Toby’s coffee stand at nearby Pt. Reyes Station, their coffee is affordable and delicious. On the plus side, there’s attentive, friendly service. A regular size coffee… is huge. But they count on the fact you’ve probably been on the road awhile and need a pick-me-up. They carry some local products. The dining area in back with the beached fishing boat has a breathtaking view of Tomales Bay/San Andreas Fault. They have a sizable parking lot. On the negative side, they have plenty of empty shelves and the place could use a good cleaning. Out back, there are construction materials so it looks like it will get some much-needed renovation. The parking lot has potholes. It’s in an area where the weather fluctuates. It can go from foggy&dreary to sunny&scorching. Fun little place that could use some work.

Stopped by for a quick grub after visiting the point Reyes lighthouse. The Reuben sandwich I ordered was surprisingly tasty and had generous amount of pastrami. The abandoned shipwreck also sits at the backyard which was a great plus! Owners were nice and accommodating too!

What a gem! An absolute diamond in the rough is what you’ll find when you step into this amazing small town market/deli. If you’re looking for one place to purchase everything from produce to cat litter to fresh meat to garden hose to track shoes to dungarees, you need to look elsewhere. However, if you’re looking for a delicious, handcrafted sandwich paired with a refreshingly cold soft drink, a friendly conversation with tourists, locals and/or a shopkeeper both truly enamored of and well informed about the beautifully historic area and utterly breathtaking views of Tomales Bay… well, this is the place for you! Oh, PS — Try the ice cream. Trust me.

I thought the Inverness Store was brilliant for someone who was just visiting for a few days(ie: I didn’t have to buy any proper food so can’t attest to the quality of their product). It had a great selection of drinks — both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, snacks, ice cream and various other goodies. We were also impressed to see people buying fresh oysters by the bag full. True to the best of small town stores it also has a video rental section, a picnic table for enjoying your lunch in inclement weather, and a deli where fresh sandwiches can be made up(a must before taking on the numerous local walks).

Some of the friendliest, and most entertaining employees I’ve ever met. During a quick one night stop in Point Reyes, my fellow travelers and I stopped in this place twice, one Saturday evening, and another time Sunday morning, and the cast of characters running the shop couldn’t have been more different. But they were equally engaging, friendly, and helpful. Definitely possess an old world feel the is lacking the closer and closer you get to the big city. swing by and grab what you need for a night in at one of the bed breakfasts near by, or for a picnic along the coast. Great cheese and wine selection, although it is a shame Drake’s bay is no longer around to offer their oysters. Enjoy the personality of this market in the small town, and don’t be afraid to strike up a a conversation with the kind folks behind the counter.

Cool Twilight Zone Experience Pics of destroyed and abandoned things. Disasters, destruction, explosions, blasts, misfortunes, fires, collisions, and the aftermath. «All is as if the world did cease to exist. The city’s monuments go unseen, its past unheard, and its culture slowly fading in the dismal sea.» ― Nathan Reese Maher I was drawn to this place not for a cold refreshing drink or a deli made sandwich the address of the Inverness Store simply provides the map to see the real wonders and mystery of this soulful place. Behind the bare shelves and the store front lies the real reason one pulls off the highway along this barren stretch of California highway into a store parking lot that seems to barely exist. I’m sure the ghost of sailors and merchant marines still visit these waters after the sun sets and darkness falls to mourn the fate of comrades from earlier times who still warns all of this final destination if you listen closely you can still hear the cry of men struggling to free themselves from the grasp of the depths and eternity. What a cool place this is definitely something you will only experience a few places in the world.

Stopped here on a long bike ride; it looked like the supermarket equivalent of a dive bar, but the sandwich I had(Reuben with provolone on sourdough) contained generous portions of meat and cheese, was on fresh bread, and was rally, really good. Wander out to the water and eat it there, the indoor searing is dark and basically in the middle of groceries.

Okay, so this place looks kinda cool from the outside. Then once I stepped in from one of the broken doors on the side of this building, I felt like a STAR in a Quentin Tarantino movie. For reals, I hoping Q would pop outta nowhere and ask me to understudy for Salma Hayek. My friend prides himself on being a dive bar aficionado. I pride myself on trying any cuisine, apparently from anywhere. This place is probably the one last chance to gather rations within a 30 mile radius. I had no idea they had a deli case and made sandwiches too. And, a damn good sandwich(I’m talking many notches better than my favorite #24 from Togo’s). At first, me and my iron-clad stomach was a little afraid to order a sandwich from this place(we were the only customers), but I thought eff it! I’m gonna roll some dice. They have a menu board of sandwich selections, or build your own. I decided on their Turkey, cheese, and avocado. The nice sandwich making guy asked me what kind of cheese I’d like: cheddar, pepper jack, etc. I looked at their deli case and chose Swiss, on a sourdough roll(they had quite a bit of breads to choose from — sliced or roll). Then I moseyed on around the place and was pleased to find a nice selection of beverages — Cock N’ Bull Ginger Ale for me! The friend got some liquor and beer for himself — to better handle my speed-racer driving. They have a couple of indoor table seating, and to my surprise some nice outdoor seating overlooking Tomales Bay. I wish I had known there was seating out behind their parking lot! Pay no mind to the somewhat unkempt parking lot and keep walking to the bay… they have a few picnic-style tables with benches right on the sand — NICE! Anyway onto the sandwich… wow, I was impressed. They even toasted the roll. And didn’t skimp on the avocado. I took one bite and wished I had the whole sandwich to myself, instead of sharing. I snarfed my half down and even took a few bites off the friend’s half too. Don’t let the dusty groceries, broken side door, and dim lighting scare you… trust me, they are sandwich whisperers.
