Ace Donut

I’ve shopped this part of Irvine many times. But I’ve never got to see if this place is the Ace of Donuts, because it’s closed at the later part of the day.
When I got here on a Sunday morning, I noticed people ahead of me liked their donut holes and they buy them in bunches. Me? that sounds boring I want out of the ordinary, something other than your traditional style or flavors.
Cool, they have Maple Bacon Donuts. I could tell it’s made fresh because the bacon toppings weren’t too dry, they were chewy and of course the maple glaze is sugary and sweet. It’s not gourmet quality but to do away sugar glazed, donut holes and the apple fritters, this one is a decent choice.
I’ve paid around a total of $ 12 with my Maple Donut, an Mocha Iced Coffee (it’s wasn’t the best, but this flavor complimented the experience). The wife’s Strawberry Cream Filled Donut, and a small black coffee. Everything tasted okay and the prices seem to be on point.
The staff workers are friendly and I noticed they mention customers by name for those who come here often.
They have a decent selection of donuts to chose from. If you’re a local at this part of Irvine, Ace Donuts maybe your only option for quick comfort donuts and coffee.
Indeed, this place is easily ignored if you don’t catch them open during morning hours, but at least you get only fresh donuts.

I live extremely close to this place and, I have been going here for years. It is hands down one of the few donut places Irvine that is very good. Ace Donuts is better than Dunkin Donuts anyday because Dunkin donuts puts close to nothing on their donuts.

Ace Donuts rocks. They are only ¹⁄₈ of a mile down the street from Irvine High School and the Wollett Aquatics Center (Walnut & Culver). Gary the owner is there almost everyday. They have the best donut selection from 5am to 10am and are open usually until 12 – 1 pm. After that you can go next door to The Habit restaurant. Love their stuffed donut or sprinkled donuts.

Their donuts taste different everyday! Some times they’re ok but today the chocolate donuts had dark chocolate on them! I hate dark chocolate and I don’t think donuts should have dark chocolate on them unless it’s said so.
Overall they’re donuts are just ok and the price is high comparing to other donut places I’ve been to.

I think the three star overall rating for this donut shop is on point. their donuts are just that A-​OK. they’re not super soft and fresh, nor are they rock solid hard. flavors are ok too. but something lacks in their donuts and for that reason i don’t think i will waste calories consuming their donuts anymore.

Love, Love, Love the fresh strawberry. Glazed or Chocolate filled with custard and fresh strawberries, Very Tasty. They are only served on the weekends and you have to come early because they run out pretty quickly.

Came here for the breakfast of champions, coffee and donuts. I can’t say I felt like much of a champion while leaving though. the iced coffee comes from a machine. It tastes absolutely nothing like coffee and was an overly-​sweetened french vanilla nightmare. I also got a chocolate glazed donut which was good but nothing to write home about. Two stars because it was pretty cheap so I didn’t feel like I got ripped off and the employees were friendly.

This place is pretty terrible. I don’t understand how anyone gives this place good reviews. I knew I was in trouble when I asked for an iced coffee and the clerk’s response was «Mocha or French Vanilla?» Evidently, they’re definition of iced coffee is watered down flavored powder with ice… yeah, like the ones they have at GAS STATIONS. First of all, a coffee bean hasn’t been anywhere near this stuff, second, they have actual regular coffee right next to it… WHY YOU NO USE THAT? Finally, the donuts: they were sweet and had an ample amount of sugar, but I asked for a coconut donut (that had shreds of coconut on it) and detected no flavor traces of coconut. The donut seemed fresh and all (which is why they get a second star) but they tried to make a fancy donut and all they made was a regular one. The way the story ends is me and my family going across the street to another café and ordering an actual iced coffee.

I DONT LIKE PEER PRESSURE!!! the lady was giving me anxiety attacks because she kept pressuring me to buy more donuts. I will not buy more donuts when the lady keeps staring at me to buy more donuts that are already overpriced.

The best donut shop in Irvine. They’re open very early and have a good variety. The place was clean and the prices were fair.

Love the donuts! Wish they can close later! 1 – 2 pm is early! The donut quality can be better! They don’t have any new donut/​croissants:(
If you want to go to a donut shop that really good go o Alton and the 405 it is near the mcdonalds. This donut/​crosantts has the best in IRVINE!!! :D

Has been my go to place for donuts and coffee for a while now. Usually during breaks or when I’m done with my stuff i would drive over to get my dose of donuts. My personal favorites are the donut holes and the normal glazed donut. The mocha iced coffee is really good and refreshing too. The atmosphere is really relaxed and the service is great. I’ve only seen two of the same workers here and they both are friendly and do their jobs. Definitely recommend this place and will be my go to place for a while.

Literally the best donut shop ever. The employees were working so hard to get everyone’s order and when there was a donut I wanted that was sold out or gone the guy said they would make me a fresh one and it was out in a few minutes :)

Showed up at 3:59 am because a couple of friends and I wanted donuts on our way to Vegas.
It clearly says it opens at 4:00 am but even after 4:05 am, the lights weren’t on and the worker in the back was doing stuff.
He saw us but ignores us, closes his curtain so we can’t see him, and continues to do whatever he was doing in the back. Not once did he come out and tell us why they are opening late. So we called them, and he says «the person who opens the shop is on his way so wait until 4:10 — 4:15 am.
We waited until 4:23 am and nobody came.
It was very unprofessional and rude.
In the end we went somewhere else that was open and had delicious donuts.
Will never come back here again.

I needed a quick donut fix attending a sporing event at Irvine High School. Unilocal and Google directed me to the vicinity, but I got lost in the giant parking lot! Ace Donut is north facing, so I missed it driving into the parking lot, it’s tucked in next to the Habit. Ace is neat and clean and the service is quick and friendly. Bought five pieces for $ 4.85.We always like plain cake donuts, and maple bars. These were pretty good, but the overall texture was hard. I will remember this place, next time I’m at Irvine High!

Seriously, I guess I’m just not that good at understanding Unilocal reviews — I see someone rating a donut shop on their bran muffins and I scratch my head thinking «What’s wrong with this picture? Eat a donut!»
Anyway — Ace Donut — great donuts, great prices, friendly service. Every donut I’ve tried is fresh, light, and perfect.
Coffee is flavorful and mild, doesn’t knock you over with caffeine.
Stop by, enjoy (have two), grab some cash from one of the banks, get gas, whatever… it’s a good way to start a day.

This place has good donuts and croissants clean but its a little prcry for a donut place but what can you expect its in irvine so rents high! But i love there donuts

Get these donuts! Walked in for a glazed and it was rich. Next day got a donut cut in half with Bavarian cream and thin cut strawberries inside, what a complimentary taste.

I first started going here about three months ago for their amazing donut holes. The guy owner quickly remembered my name and my usual order after going there for the first few weeks, which was very welcoming.
One day I came in for for my usual donut holes, but they were all out so the wife of the owner politely gave me their business card. She recommended me to call in my order ahead of time so they can hold a donut holes for me. They always run out of donut holes by 9:00 a.m. everyday so I usually call in right when I wake up, which is usually around 8:00 a.m. Additionally, every time I do call in to place a order of donut holes, the owner ALWAYS recognizes my order and never asks for my name because he knows it’s me. Maybe I’m the only customer who calls in for donut holes, but it’s still very nice and welcoming.
This will always be my favorite donut place to eat!

So, my review here is long overdue to be updated. I think my first time in here was a fluke bad day.
I have returned many times since… it is close to my work, they take Amex, I get breakfast for my office every Friday, its convenient… and the donuts are good!
I just tried the bacon maple donut this morning for the first time, it was good!
The two guys in the morning are always friendly, and helpful. My coworkers really like the donuts here, I have tried the danish (cheese, strawberry, chocolate chip) and a few of the donuts… next I want to try one of the muffins.
My original review was from a year ago… and I decided to just delete it and start over… since I do frequent here now and the service and everything is great. :)
