This is my go to place if I want to bring a dessert or some kind of food item to a office party or gathering. Its simple, tasty and mess free! Doesn’t store that well so needs to be eaten within 24 hours after purchase. It usually is a hit among my asian and non asian colleagues and friends!

My dad really likes this place so I decided on getting some while shopping in the market. The workers greeted us with a nice/friendly«Hello and Welcome!» We got one extra large bag, one large bag, so around 50 hodos and it came out to be $ 19 and something cents. The lady even gave us 2 hodos for free because we purchased a large amount. Then I dropped one on the floor and she gave me another one for free! I felt so bad… but she was super sweet about it and laughed it off. When my brother and I ate it, it was super soft and warm, soo good! I couldn’t stop eating it :)

Cocohodo is located within Zion Market and their primary product is their Cocohodo walnut pastry. These pastries are made daily and they are each individually wrapped by a thin piece of paper to keep the pastry moist. Once you open it up you will discover a soft walnut shell pattern on the exterior breading. The inside is stuffed with red bean and a piece of walnut for texture. The mild sweetness on the dessert makes it enjoyable for those who don’t like an overly sweet dessert. Individual Pastries: — Small Bag(9 pieces): $ 3.75 — Medium Bag(15 pieces): $ 5.95 — Large Bag(21 pieces): $ 7.95 — Extra Large Bag($ 30): $ 11.25 Gift Boxes: — Mini Box(12 pieces): $ 5.75 — Handy Box(15 pieces): $ 6.95 — Mini Medium Box(22 pieces): $ 9.95 — Small Box(36 pieces): $ 15.95 — Medium Box(56 pieces): $ 22.95 — Large Box(84 pieces): $ 34.95 What originally caught my eye was their cute display case of various gift box options. The gift boxes contains the pastries packed up in perfect rows and the box is wrapped up cutely with a ribbon or a bow on top giving it that extra touch. These make a great gift if you want something out of the ordinary. I have purchased the gift boxes on multiple occasions and I have received feedback about how they are unique, cute and just the right amount of sweetness. Personally I think they make a smart snack to keep you content between meals. The bready exterior expands when you drink water and the walnut interior has omega 3 fatty acids that keeps you feeling full longer. Just for the record, I’m not a nutritionist or anything so don’t go on a Cocohodo diet based on my random speculations.

Seems like all their locations are inside a grocery store which always throws me off at first, look for Zion Market, at least there is parking. They made me a fresh box while is really the only way to enjoy them. While the rest of my family did not enjoy them(it is an unique taste if you have never had red bean paste before) I though they were pretty good. Not too sweet, great with coffee, something I have found to crave every so often.

Walnut shaped soft outer texture like a sponge cake, filled with red bean and chucks of walnut. Who knew the two worked so well together! 9 for $ 3. I could easily kill a whole box full.

food — 4⁄5 the walnut pastry is basically the only pastry they sell. its very good when you eat it fresh and warm. the outside is very crispy and the red bean filling inside is pipping hot. so be careful when you eat it. such a perfect snack for tea time. it doesnt taste that good when it gets cold and soggy. but you can always bake it in a mini oven for a good 2 mins to get the pastry crispy again. price — 3⁄5 i think its $ 3 for 6 of this mini pastry. its individually wrapped like candies which make it easier to eat. i think its cheaper if you buy a dozen or more. not sure how much though, maybe by couple of dimes or so. service 3⁄5 its just your average customer service. you tell them how many pastry you want, they bag it for you, and you pay. its as simple as that. i first tried this pastry in garden grove and this was how i know about this place. i like the service in garden grove better. it is friendlier and more welcoming. location 5⁄5 very convenient and i dont need to go as far anymore to get my pastry. it is located inside the zion market which i visit weekly to do my grocery.
