This is some bomb porkbelly and finishing touch with the stirred fried rice is just. amazeballz It is on the bit pricey side. but i mean if that’s what it takes, I would come here again(just not too often) Service is friendly as well. I think it deserves higher overall rating!

This place is the most special Korean restaurant I have ever been. We have moved to Irvine for a year now and we never had such a special Korean BBQ experience, not even in Taiwan! Their BBQ grill is not like what I had seen in my life, they use a bigger bronze grill, not smaller, removable bronze grills as usual. Their side dishes are much special also. They serve rice flour cake rather than rice, and their kimchi is chopped at your table right in front of your eyes, not pre-chopped and marinated kimchi as usual. The only thing is the price, a little too expensive for regular dinning, but once a while to take your special guests there is a good choice.

Have always had great experiences at this restaurant. They take reservations and their pork belly is awesome. Staff can be a little slow or curt due to how busy they are but if the food is good … It’s all worth it in the end!

I was a little nervous to bring my mom here because of such a low rating… but I honestly didn’t find anything that wrong with this place. True, the prices are steep for a serving of one kind of meat($ 25 – 35) — compared to the $ 15 – 20 ayce prices you can get elsewhere. With that said, we had plenty enough by ordering two kinds of meat: chadol and wagyu. We could have even done with one after being served complimentary fried rice and soup at the end. This place serves a good variety of meats, so you can be satisfied if you have just a couple favorites at an ayce anyway. There aren’t as many of the usual banchan but the sauces, kimchi, and mung bean sprouts were good additions. We were absolutely stuffed so we wouldn’t have even noticed. Service for us was also excellent! Our servers were attentive and cooked often for us when they passed by. We only had a couple of refill requests, and they were prompt each time. I would come back for say, a special occasion given the prices, but I had a great overall experience here! Great way to spend our mama-daughta date :)

My friend took me there and we got little help from the staff about ordering. We were first timer so that kind of sucked… Other than that, the food quality was actually ver good

Dinner was excellent tonight. As I walked in I was immediately greeted and sat down. As the waiter placed the usual fermented condiments on and around the grill, I told him I was ready to order. Our food came in an expected timely manner. As our steaks and ribs were cooking, it seemed that with each minute that came by, there was a different server checking to make sure the food was cooking properly. I was amazed by the tentativeness of not only the food handling but grill control. I didn’t even touch the tongs or scissors once like I usually do at many other Kbbq restaurants. At the end we were offered the fried rice but declined because we were so full. My visit made a good snapchat story, so I’ll be back! Thanks guys.

My fiancé, friends and I went here a few days ago. There were 6 of us total(including a kid) and when we were seated one of the couples asked if they could get a separate bill to which the waiter said no. Okay then. Food was alright. Meet was delicious and seasoned well. Really expensive for what it is though. I ordered some beef and it was seriously a cup of thinly cut meat for $ 19. It was enough with the sprouts and potato/tofu/cabbage but not super filling. The service was horrible! Our waiter was very rude and one of our friends ordered two items off the menu. He asked for a type of meat and the waiter told him to tell him by item #. Me and everyone else heard but when it came out one item was wrong. My friend said very nicely«Sorry man, we ordered short ribs» Waiter interrupts and shows my friends the menu. My friend points to the correct item and they guy was like«Oh you want to change it from a #4 to a #5 now?» My friend said«No, I want the one I asked for the first time». Our waiter walked off huffy and didn’t come back awhile. At the table we were at the BBQ was starting to burn and we asked if they could make the fried rice for us(they make it at the end using the left over veggies n meat). He finally did and by then the veggies were all burnt. At the next table over he made new veggies etc so I dont know which is standard. After it was done we asked for a to go box because it was burning just sitting on the grill and he said yes but he never came. My fiancé finally went and got the box. Paid our bill, mixed reviews. Couple people love it there, couple not so much. Couple people were really full and a few stopped at McDonalds for something more on the way home. Me and my fiancé tried to eat the friend rice later but it was too overcooked and charred. Between the customer service and food quality I will not be returning.

Pretty good. Note that it is not ayce. Fresh meat. But service is a bit on the slow side. So 4 star for food and 2 star for service Averaged 3 stars. Great place if this is all you are doing for that night.

This place is not that bad as the reviews said. After tried it a year ago, we went in today and give it another try. Service is good. There are more than ten tables are occupied. But the waitress and waiters are still very nice and provide good services. Food is good. The only thing I don’t like is the price. It’s overpriced. But other than that, taste is good. Meat is well cooked and delicious! For people who didn’t get good service, I recommend you to come during weekdays.

Unilocal!!! Why the low rating? This place is awesome! It’s clean and decorated well inside. The food was of great quality and delicious! The service was outstanding. Yes. Outstanding! There was a constant stream of friendly people coming to our table to check if we needed anything! We only had to push the button once and they came instantly by afterward! Love, love, loved it! I have no idea why this is rated so low at all. I will be back!

Found this place when I was actually going to Tang 190. My friend suggested about having Barbeque instead since she’s starving and didn’t have breakfast. We saw this place near so we walked in here. We got here around 12 noon and there was a few tables seated. The guy who seated us was also the waiter. He was the only one working on a Monday. We ordered beef tongue and beef bulgogi. Both places were around $ 20 – 25 range. It’s a bit pricy since portions weren’t that generous but for 2 people it was just enough. We had to flag down the waiter several times to get water and to order something else. Next time I think I’ll come here on weekend and try it out!

First time here and I am shocked by how bad the customer service is. I was just hoping for an explanation of everything and I had to ask. Even once I did ask, I did not think the responses were really developed or «customer service» like. It’s an expectation here that you know what you’re doing and you should know that they cook everything and don’t want you to touch it. I felt like with all the freedom and alone time they were giving, they would appreciate us turning our own meat(as it was turning brown), but they did not. Wouldn’t come here again, now that I know what to do and how they treat the customers BUT for the first time– pretty bad. I did enjoy the food though. Food was good.

Bring your rich-looking Korean mom. That’s the only way you’ll get sub par service at best. Upsetting because the people providing poor reviews are spending hard earned money to have an enjoyable experience. They have DELICIOUS fermented kimchee and fresh beef… Bye bye Honey Pig. You’ve lost my business(until my mom comes back into town. Maybe.)

Don’t be fool by the amount of food you get here… It’s mainly Kimchi and bean sprouts. They give little amount of meat for the price you pay. $ 20 for brisket. Very small portion. $ 24 for signature black pork belly. This is the only positive thing from this place. Hence, the reason for the 3 stars. Overall, this place is actually not bad… If you feel like spending money that is. Ooooooo and don’t get the brisket!

I’m not sure why this place has only 2.5 stars. I think it’s because for the price, you can get much more variety and quantity of meat at an ayce place. But here, you never have to wait and you can be seated immediately if you’re hungry. This is also be a good place to have dinner with large parties. It’s more like 3.5 for me, but I rounded down because of the price. It’s not expensive, it’s just that for the price, I would expect maybe 25% more quantity especially since the meat is uncooked(meaning no cooking labor/talent involved in the kitchen). I didn’t have a problem with the service. It was kind of difficult getting the waiters attention considering the place was mostly empty, but the server was nice. We ordered the pork belly and the brisket and both were of good meat quality. The kimchi fried rice was good at the end of the meal, but I wish it had more of a burnt crisp.

After avoiding this low-rated KBBQ place since they opened, we decided to give it a try on advice from friends who’ve been and said the food is great, ignore the rating. Besides, I was curious why this place had such low ratings when its other location in LA is highly lauded. Best part of this place is its set-up. The grill is pretty cool…(until they make the fried rice and more rice fall off the grill than ends up in the fried rice). The seating is comfortable and the tables provide plenty of space. They don’t give you the traditional banchan dishes so you’ve got even MORE space. We ordered the boneless short rib, Iberico pork, and pork jowl. The boneless short rib was the most expensive of the 3 at $ 34.99 but was the least impressive. The Iberico pork was yummy and I’m always a huge fan of pork jowl. We also ordered a kim chee soup but that never came so we just asked them to cancel our order. The food was definitely pricier than the quality warrants. The Iberico pork — sure — it’s imported all the way from Spain and the pigs eat acorns. But the bone short rib was still tough and chewy cooked medium rare so that’s inexcusable. Service was rough. As mentioned, we never got our kimchee soup. We were also missing so many things that should have been routinely provided(salad, sesame oil, radish wraps), etc. One particular girl was especially terrible. We asked her for salad — it didn’t come. Another guy came by, who was a little better at his job, noticed we were out and offered to get some for us. Which he did. Fifteen minutes later, the first girl whisked by and dropped off the salad without a word. There are bells on the wall but even with the restaurant mostly empty, we had to use it a couple times… one time, we even had to ring it twice. Everyone else also had an urn on their table with a ladle in it. Had what looked like cold white kimchee soup. Yeah, we were not given that either(and didn’t know to ask for it). I think if you’re used to the service at other KBBQ places, this place is definitely a 2.5 star joint in comparison. If you’re into pork, there are other joints to try, with way better service.

If Tang 190 is too busy then walk a couple stores down to Honey Pig. You’ll probably pay a lot more for your meal but it’ll suffice. So I tried the beef brisket, pork jowl, and Berkshire pork belly. I would recommend all three except they cost $ 20 – 26 per plate. It’s good quality meat but just not a lot. We weren’t informed that if you order steamed rice with your meal, you don’t get the fried rice mixture at the end. That was a major bummer because we weren’t sure whether to keep eating the kimchi and mung bean sprouts that were on the grill from the very beginning. Since you don’t get other side dishes, it makes sense to eat this stuff during the meal. The greens, dips, and dukboksam(rice wraps) were all fresh and tasty. There were only 2 other tables in there and service was decent.

Service: excellent Food: ok. Flavorful. Not the best BBQ food. Cost: expensive We went in for lunch because other restaurants at the plaza were full by 11:30a. Saw others cooking the food on the hot pan and thought it was pretty cool. They have lunch special but we opted for the regular menu. You don’t get to cook on the table if you order lunch special. It’s an ok experience. Probably won’t purposely go back because there are so many better BBQ option in Irvine.

This was my first Korean bbq experience and I was very pleased. I dined with my coworkers, one of which was Korean and spoke fluently. We had no customer service issues which seems to be the trend among the other reviewers. I’m sure it helped that my coworker spoke the language. Overall I thought the food was very flavourful and was generous portions. We were stuffed when we left. We ordered the ribeye, short rib, and pork which was more than enough to split amongst 4 people that eat quite a bit. The cold soup at the end was a nice touch as it cooled you down after a steaming hot grille in front of you. The kimchi was SO good. The hot soup was also very delicious. I have zero complaints and would recommend to others.

3.5 stars Honey Pig BBQ is a Korean BBQ but it is not AYCE. This is a place that you need to go to as a group because you order large orders of meat which you share with a group. Everything is placed on a large round grill from which the group picks pieces of meat and pickled vegetable from the grill as the pieces become cooked. We ordered the pork belly and the galbi beef. The pork belly came out in large thick oblong pieces. They were placed by the waitress on the round grill along with the kimchi and bean sprouts. It was interesting having grilled kimchi and bean sprouts. Grilled kimchi is a little sweeter and milder when it is grilled. The pork belly was a little better than average but didn’t wow me. After being grilled, the pork belly became a little too chewy and was not very juicy. The galbi beef was surprisingly not that moist and flavorful in contrast to other galbi beef that I have had. Towards the end of your meal, the waitress brings rice which she combines with the grilled kimchi and bean sprouts giving you kimchi fried rice. The thing that caught me by surprise was the price of everything. We were charged high quality prices for average, so-so quality meat.
