Breakfast. 2nd time here and the food is still bad. The food presentation is sloppy. The potatoes were cold and under cooked. The egg sandwich fell apart.

Went there Friday night to get a quick bite before a movie. A man sat us down on a huge table in the corner(it was just me and my wife which was nice and spacious). We sat there looking at the menu for a bit and noticed a group of 4 came in about 8 to 10 minutes after us. I watched them sit and I went about looking at my menu. Several minutes later my wife mentions that they got their drinks(mind you we haven’t even been approached by anyone except for being sat 15 minutes ago). We agree to get up and walk out rather than discuss with the business(Ruby’s Diner) why we haven’t been even greeted or approached by any server except for the person that sat us. There were only about 6 tables being served throughout the whole restaurant, so what the heck? There are too many good restaurants around this area and we don’t need to waste our time if this is the service we’re getting as it is. Imagine what it would be like waiting for our food or getting refills. We went to Cheesecake Factory and were served in a timely manner. We’ve both were servers in the past and its commons sense to, if anything, tell your table that«you’ll be right with them». We did not even get that, we watched as a group of 4 came in after us get greeted by their server and also get their drinks too. Even after they got their drinks, we were passed by without any acknowledgement. Not visiting this place again and I would recommend walking past it as there are 15 other establishments who have experienced servers. We came in around 10:15 p.m. or 10:30 p.m. on Friday 6/17, so whoever the lady was serving the tables closest to the windows facing the movie theaters completely walked by us 3 times.

This restaurant is located in the Irvine Spectrum next the the Movie Theaters. The restaurant is decorated like a 50’s diner and the servers are also dressed for that era as well. This Ruby’s has an Indian Motorcycle elevated above the booths. There are also Indian Motorcycle signage for décor as well. I have been to Ruby’s many times and have always been a fan of the ice cream shakes, especially the 50⁄50 with vanilla ice cream and orange juice blended together. In the last few years I have become a fan of the burgers, specifically, the ½ lb Cobb Burger which has bleu cheese and bacon on it. That is one of my favorite overall burgers and is better than anything that I can get at Red Robin or Applebees. It is an expensive bill($ 25) for the Cobb Burger combo, soda and a shake so I usually don’t order both at the same time but last time I did. The price is the only negative for me.

This place is normally great but they closed early on a weekday and I wasn’t able to go in. I understand when traffic is slow and all but if you have a fixed set of hours one would expect those to be a definite set time. Hopefully next time will be better.

It is a good restaurant with fresh, greasy food! Greasy burgers, salty fries, warm and soft chicken, sweet and bubbly soda, and thick, sweet, and beautiful shakes of a variety of flavors! Salted Caramel Delight, Strawberry Swirl, Oreo Cookie Fantasy! The shop is super clean! The bathrooms are mostly clean. And the restaurant has a 40’s vintage and old-fashion look. And this is an exclusive«autodiner» with a style of a recreational vehicle and different motorcycles around the room! Not to mention it’s perfect for kids! It has DIY building cars! The service is good. I’d come here again.

I really loved the atmosphere there. Felt really classic like 50’s or 60’s im 18 so idk for sure haha but the food is really good. The server, I didnt get his name was on point with his work, unlike at other restaurants. I love how they give you the shakes in glass and not just paper cups like other restaurants. Over all, one of my favorite Burger Joints.

We entered the store and no one greeted us so we just picked a booth and waited. It took a while before a server noticed us. Food was ok and could be better but I think the service needs a lot of improvement.

If you eat at Ruby’s before your movie at the Irvine Spectrum, they can give you a movie ticket deal for only $ 9 a person! The food was pretty good, the service was ok, but I have to say that it is always fun going to Ruby’s! I think it’s a great way to spend a Saturday night!

Something failed with the timing here– don’t know why everything was delayed when the restaurant wasn’t busy. Perhaps they were understaffed in the kitchen? Perhaps the servers were inputting the orders into the computer system too slowly? Or perhaps the whole process was managed incorrectly by management? Whatever the case, even the workers looked confused by the delays, and it caused some irritated customers to wonder, «why does it take THISLONG for us to get our food???» If it’s something that takes a long time, I would understand and people would be more patient. But as one woman yelled that the hot dogs she ordered took over half an hour during non-busy hours, the staff looked bewildered that someone would call them out on their delays. Alas, she only spoke the truth — everyone is thinking it, and yet she was the only one to say it. Most of us passively let things go and come complain about it here on Unilocal. As I will continue now. By the time my food had arrived, I was hungry and regretting stopping by here, would rather go to Johnny Rocket’s or Red Robin’s who has exceptional service and better quality food for just about the same price. Wilted salad is also an utter disappointment. I forked through my browned lettuce but was so hungry I didn’t care enough to say anything about it. At least whoever ordered shakes were pretty pleased — their orders did not delay, and they seemed to be much happier than anyone who had ordered actual food.

When your movie doesn’t start for another half hour, what better is there to do than grab delicious milk shakes and frings? My friend and I did just that. We ordered 2 shakes: chocolate chip cookie dough and Oreo Fantasy. Both were delicious and not too thick or soupy either! We also ordered a basket of Frings which really hit the spot; I saw other patrons order some pretty decent-looking burgers, and I was so tempted to order one… My friend reminded me that we only had 20 minutes to spare after receiving our shakes. Our service was great too. The waitresses wear cute dresses and the restaurant is decorated to look very mod and retro! I want to come back for dinner and try their burgers; maybe after a day of shopping.

Even thought it was super packed our waitress didn’t forget about us. I could almost time her every 20min she was at our table asking if we needed anything considering she had 7 tables to work on so what thats about 3min a table average. Food came out correct and hot i wish i would have kept the receipt so i could give her name. but she was a short Hispanic girl early 20, s. We had Cheeseburger combos and split a milkshake i like how they give you the overflow on the shake. will be back and the manager was cool to he was assiting all the girls passing by all the tables to see if they needed an assist in anyway.

We were looking for a different breakfast spot on Friday morning when we stumbled upon Rubys diner at the spectrum. I had never been here before and when we went in it was a very cute little retro diner. Great atmosphere and décor. Being at the spectrum it was a bit more of an upscale diner than the typical diners I have been to before. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. I had the two egg breakfast with scrambled eggs turkey bacon, and the potatoes which were a unique take on your typical breakfast potato, and delicious! They were almost more of a thicker scallop potato. The other meals at the table where the cinnamon French toast and a breakfast burrito. Both equally had good reviews. We will definitely be coming back to this diner for breakfast and would love to try their milkshakes because that is definitely the staple in a good diner

Rubys is a great casual atmosphere diner experience. With their burgers and fries being the main happening, the very reasonable price cant be beat. The convenience of this location makes it a great spot to grab food after a movie or even walk around prior in the shopping center. Their guacamole burger has a good amount flavor with a good portion of fries that are also«refillable» for just $ 9.99. The only complaint id have is that it is super greasy. The little wrapping paper they put around the burger was full and ran down the able and on to my shirt which was really frustrating. I did get to try the sweet potato fires and feel like they are a good way to satisfy a craving if you want something sweet that is int too terrible for you. Unfortunately i did not get a shake this time but know that they also have great flavor and you should definitely get one if you ever stop by a location. Did you know you can mix their signature flavors? Service was decent nothing to complain about and Emily was quick to get us seated and orders taken. The Harley theme at this location is pretty cool as well and fun to look at. All-in-all id go back to this location for a quick and inexpensive bite to eat.

I may be biased towards Ruby’s since I was born in a hospital across the street from the Laguna Hills mall location, but they definitely have some awesome burgers! I love the diner aspect of the restaurant and the diners’ all for the most part have different themes: the Irvine Spectrum Ruby’s focuses on motorcycles, the Laguna Hills Ruby’s has airplanes gliding overheard(my personal favorite), the other Irvine location highlights boats, etc. Their burger recipes I feel have been slightly updated over the years, yet the difference would be pretty much nonexistent for someone who isn’t a regular here. Nevertheless, their Mushroom Swiss burger never disappoints and their«refillable» fries are always freshly hot with every basket. Their Sweet Potato fries substitute for a dollar more satisfies my sweet potato cravings perfectly, and their Parmesan fries(which they presumably don’t have anymore) used to be amazing as well. And in my opinion they also serve the best Chicken Tenders in the area without a doubt, always fresh and grease-free served with ranch, honey mustard and barbecue dipping sauces. Shakes also come in an abundance of flavors, the most popular of which being strawberry, with two full servings to justify their price! My burger during this particular visit was a tad greasier than normal, but nothing out of the ordinary. My partner’s burger was definitely much greasier than mine, but I guess I just got lucky! While the Irvine Spectrum Ruby’s still serves up a greatly filling and affordable meal, the Laguna Hills mall location seems to be a bit more on top of things in terms of food quality and service. I’ll always be a loyal customer though and can’t wait to come back for more!

Typical Ruby’s faire. Great burgers, fries and salads. Love this location! Steps from the parking structure, it’s located next door to the Edwards 21 Cinemas. Perfect for a quick casual meal before seeing a movie. Service has always been good here, and I’ve never had a bad meal at this location.

I was very pleasantly surprised by their breakfast. BF and I stopped in for breakfast before waiting in line for the Hello Kitty Café Truck this past weekend, and left very full and satisfied. He had the Belly Bomb Burrito and I had the Corned Beef Hash Stack(choice of potatoes, toast, English muffin, or beignets). I went with the beignets because I had coincidentally been hankering for them the night before. They were light and airy, and great with the maple syrup. Both our breakfast items were really good, though I think I liked his burrito more(it also came with guac in the burrito AND guac on the side — yum). I think if the potato pancake in my stack were a little crispier, I would’ve really enjoyed it even more.

This location’s service is the worst. One star solely for that. I waited 10 minutes or so to be seated and was told that our server would arrive shortly. Then, 10 – 15 minutes after that we sat around, heads turning, looking for any attention to receive service but nothing. I even made quick eye contact, but they avoided us like we had the plague or something. Not one person stopped by or asked if we needed anything –and it wasn’t for not looking like we were ready to order. Pretty sure menus closed on the table and looking around means we are ready to order. Not only that, but the group seated after us had their server arrive and take their order. Just lovely My advise for staff… please be more attentive to your guests :)
