Shall I compare thee to a summers day? Yes, because Tommy Bahama’s is like a breath of fresh warm air, even in the Winter. It’s like stepping onto the beach, with the heat and the numerous marine smelling candles around the store. Which makes me wonder how high their electric bill is on freezing cold days. Though while the heat and fragrance drew me in, I really must say, I don’t like the TB style. Everything is in pastels, and very Miami Beach/Golden Girls. I don’t ever wear Hawaiian print so even the dresses I liked I would never find a place to wear. Also their prices are a little on the high side, not ridiculously high, but also not what you(unless you are a retired vacationer) would want to pay for clothing. So as much as I adore the ambiance, no one I know wears anything like what they sell, so truthfully I have no reason to come back.

There are generally two types of guys who shop in Tommy Bahama stores: Middle-aged guys with guts, and older-than-that guys with guts. Perhaps others exist, but that’s all I ever see when I shop there. After all, it’s a great place to find comfortable shirts that drape nicely over guts. I have 30 of them myself, and it’s been rumored that I may, from time to time, not easily see my toes after a large meal. What I love is the cut and quality of the shirts. They are like dressy pajamas of silk, with cool old guy designs embroidered on the backs, that are also acceptable as a reasonable replacement for a shirt and tie in decent restaurants and cocktail parties not specifying black tie. Yes, they are expensive, but I usually find them on sale at Macy’s or Nordstrom.

Beautiful silk shirts for the man in your life. All kinds of resort wear for men and women. The St. Bart’s perfume for women smells divine. Service is always nice and helpful.

Recently I have done more browsing at the Irvine Spectrum location of Tommy Bahama(no I didn’t hit the lottery) because this location has an awesome ceramic dog bowl and Kaya works up a good thirst walking around Spectrum. Tommy Bahama is owned by Oxford Industries and there are over 130 stores across the United States(14 of which also have restaurants and bars) and their casual sports and active wear are also sold in department stores such as Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Sak’s Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor and Belk. In addition to sportswear, Tommy Bahama license their own indoor and outdoor furnishings, bedding and bath, lamps, rugs, ceiling fans, outdoor fabrics, wall coverings, sunglasses, optical eyewear, watches, umbrellas, luggage, hats, and men’s and women’s fragrances. In 2007, Tommy Bahama entered the alcohol business, by branding its own rum which comes in two varieties: White Sand(light rum) and Golden Sun(an aged, dark rum). Both rums are produced by R.L. Seale Distillery which has been producing rums in Barbados for over 80 years. The entrance( ) and display window( ) fit the idea of the store, providing a relaxing island theme. This store is mostly a clothing retailer( ), but they do have home items including candles( ) and some items to help you to enjoy their brand of rum( ) or any other libation you may choose this holiday season. Just remember: Don’t drink and shop! You will wake up with hangover and an empty wallet. Of late, I have taken a liking to a Scrimshaw Button-Mock Sweatshirt, but my wallet doesn’t love the price tag($ 138.00). Someone call 911 … my wallet just flat lined! Clear! So here is a little safety tip for everyone, if you are going to shop at Tommy Bahama, make sure you are prepared for sticker shock. There is no doubt the quality of clothing and items are excellent, but just expect to pay a higher price for it. Rohlinism: Sticker shock isn’t fatal unless you are a savings account or a credit card! I wish this location had a restaurant attached, but I have been to location in Newport Beach(which has a restaurant) and the restaurants are this same as the clothing stores … premium food and at premium prices. Not to mention the best Key Lime Pie west of the Florida Keys! The service at this location has always been helpful and friendly. I am always greeted when I walk in and the workers have been able to answer all my questions. I have even been asked if the water bowl is full when Kaya stops in for a drink. The store is well organized, items are easy to find and if you can’t find something just ask one of the helpful workers. T is the season to spend like crazy, so if have a special someone that loves great quality casual sportswear(and has a Santa that isn’t financially challenged) make sure a visit to Tommy Bahama is on your list.

Awesome customer service! I bought a $ 250 jacket three years ago. The zipper of left side pocket are broken. The lady offered me to exchange a similar one or get a $ 127 store credit. Of cause I chosen to get a new jacket:-D

Great store but so hard to find once you get here at this mall. Then again, if I knew this mall it would be easy I suppose. So many other great shops here. I think I’ll be back.

This is the closest Tommy Bahama to me, and I needed something casual but nice for Mr. B. The store is really nice, the clothing is high quality with a price tag to match. But sometimes you need to bite the bullet when they have exactly what you want. The staff was really friendly, helpful and talkative. Clothes were wrapped in tissue paper and bagged nicely, which is a nice touch. I would shop here again, not on a daily basis, but when I need something really nice.
