Not wanting to wait for 90 minutes at a different restaurant in the same plaza, our group of six ended up at Wei Shian — which happened to be completely empty when we first stepped inside. Being born and raised in Hawaii, I look to salt as being one of the major food groups. Having said that — hate to say it but a few of the dishes were a bit too salty. Not awful to the point that we didn’t clear our plates, but enough that if I were to return, I wouldn’t order the following dishes: Beef w/Broccoli Pork Dumplings However, I did enjoy the sauteed green beans and the baked tofu with shredded pork. The pork rib noodle soup wasn’t bad. Broth was nice and the noodles softy and tender. Didn’t try the pork so no comment there. The service wasn’t bad. Probably had to do that the place was just not very busy for a Saturday night so they could focus on their customers. If you know the plaza, you know how parking can be. If you don’t — good luck. It’s cash only too. No ATM machines on site.

Not bad but some dishes were too salty. We came here by default as we didn’t want to wait 90 mins for SW. The restaurant was empty on an early Sat evening but we decided to give it a try since the neighboring restaurant had 1.5 stars and awful reviews. We tried: *Pork rib noodle soup: it was what I was craving and my favorite dish. The soup was very good and flavorful but the noodles were a bit on the softer side(and I usually like them soft). The rib was good and it also had some bok choi. *Sauteed greeen beans-good *Dumplings and panfried buns: not that good. The filling(pork and chives) was just average *Tofu and beef– this was interesting and good. The tofu and beef were sliced thinly like noodles. *Beef and broccoli: waaay too salty. Overall, not a bad meal but not my first choice for Chinese food in the area. It’s cash only and although it had pretty chairs and chandeliers, there is like a fast food counter inside that just takes away from the atmosphere.

I spent my childhood in Taiwan and this place reminds me of the restaurants I grew up going to. The noodles here are very good. In addition, the beef rolls are amazing as well as the hot pot, which is reminiscent of Boiling Point. If you are looking for Peking duck or some 小籠包 I am pretty sure you are at the wrong restaurant — the restaurant is called«味鮮麵»…notice the«麵» part for noodles. Why would you come here and expect Peking duck to be on the menu?

Okay so — decent food and service. My family got an egg/tomato soup with noodle and dan dan noodle and those were yummy. I thought the soup was really delicious although the noodles were soft and slightly overcooked, but overall it was tasty. The dan dan noodles was VERYSPICY. That’s another reason why I loved the tomato/egg soup even more. But I really wanted to comment on the cleanliness or hygiene(or whatever you call it). I lifted my napkin that was laying on my plate when I first got to the table, and there was an almost-dead fly under it. The table setter must have squished it a little when he/she was placing the napkins. Then when I finished eating, I noticed an ant crawling along my mom’s napkin. This is REALLY making me question how much they care and clean stuff around here.

Horrible wonton. Meat taste like rubber. Excessive use of MSG. Too salty. Vegetable beans taste horrible. Avoid this place if you can and go to the noodle place next a few doors down. Tofu king has decent wontons also across the plaza.

It was an odd experience at Wei Shian(味鮮) today. 7:00pm on a Saturday and there was only one table of customers but I was feeling adventurous so in I went. I ordered a spicy beef noodles since noodles is in their name. When I asked the waiter for a recommendation between pork or beef piecake, he told in a straight face that the only difference is the meat. This place appears to make-to-order. Even though I was the only customer who just ordered, I waited almost 10 minutes for my noodles and twice as long for piecakes. The beef noodles was tasty although the portion was on the light side. The pork piecake was juicy and delicious. Do watch out for the juice gushing out when you bite into it. So why the 3 stars? That’s 4 stars on food and 2 stars on service. And yes, I think I will be back to try other items on the menu.

Do not come here if you don’t want bugs in your food. I came here for the first time with a friend today. We ordered spicy wontons, spicy beef noodle, and green beans to share. Before I share my thoughts on the food, I want to tell you guys about the bugs. So, about halfway through our meal, a termite/fly looking insect decided to land on the green beans. It seemed to be struggling to fly off the beans and remained stuck even when my friend picked up the bean with her chopsticks to put on her napkin. It was disgusting. We both assumed it was a one-time incident and decided not to complain about the bug and went on with our life… I seriously do not have high expectations when it comes to chinese restaurants… So a few minutes later, another one of those insects decides to land and gets stuck on my wonton on my plate. At that point, I pretty much lost my appetite and complained to the waiter guy. I told him that this was the second bug that landed and got stuck on my food… and all he did was swap out my plate for a new one. As I stated earlier, I have minimal expectations when it comes to asian restaurants like this so I didn’t expect to get a free meal or anything… but I think they should apologize at the least… I wouldn’t want more food from the kitchen… since… who knows if these insects are landing and getting stuck in the food as its being cooked. Anyway… now on to the food… which is more reason not to come here. It was extremely mediocre if anything… the spicy beef noodle was not that spicy… and it was pretty bland. The noodles were overcooked and the beef was tough. Nothing compared to the beef soup of A&Js or like literally any other place I’ve been to. The spicy wontons weren’t that spicy either. The chili oil that they have on the table is pretty spicy so I had to add some of that. The only dish I liked there was the green beans… until the insect landed in it. So in conclusion… I would pick any of the other restaurants in that jeffrey&walnut plaza. Never going back there. Insects landing(and staying) in your food and the waiters lack of reaction to those insects. Beyond disappointment.

You gotta try their newest addition, hot pot !! So good, I think it’s better than boiling point, you can even create your own! Boiling point already made with the ingredients, you cannot substitute. I had number 1, medium spicy is perfect for my taste. Free any drink in the menu and rice. I am gonna try cumin beef next. Yum yum

I like Taiwanese food then the food wasn’t up to what I expected at this place. I never had Dan Dan noodles like this style that wasn’t very tasty. The noodles really need some other ingredients like meat. The Napa cabbage and pork dumplings and the sesame rice ball dessert were good choices. Food was a bit salty here so if they cut back a little on the salt it would have been better. Their chili sauce is good especially when they make it themselves. Try other more common dishes here would be a suggestion. This is a small and clean café.

Not the best chinese restaurant in Irvine and not the worst. I enjoyed their scallion pancakes and their steam pork buns. Chicken and broccoli was too salty. I would avoid their spicy beef noodle soup(go to Noodle 101 nextdoor for that). Their bok choy was ok. not greasy and still crispy.

I was pleasantly surprised with Wei Shian Noodles. I ate here long time ago when they first opened and my 2nd visit was last night. Prices here are pretty cheap. $ 5.99 for a noodle soup! Portions are huge too, so you definitely get your money’s worth here. We ordered the pork with green mustand noodle soup & the tomato egg noodle soup, of which both were very good. Our neighbor’s scallion pancakes looked delicious and were another table’s fried meat buns. I’ll be back here since the food is good and the price fairly inexpensive.

From what others have already stated in their reviews this is a sister store to Chong Qinq who is just down the way. Started with their cold appetizer of pig ears, tendon, and dried tofu. I loves the pig ears and tendon. Perfect way to start our lunch so I was hoping the rest was good. We went ahead and a ordered their dan dan noodles and I thought it was average at best. Their was too much Szechuan peppercorn for me and the sauce itself was too thick. The noodles however were a star in this dish as well as the beef noodles we got. I think the winner for me was their pan fried pork and leek dumplings while not as good as 101 Noodle House they are still on par. Crisp skin and delicious juicy filling made for a nice ending to our meal. I’d come here of the wait for 101 was too long. Although it wouldn’t be my first choice on this plaza with a plethora of better competitors I wouldn’t hesitate to drop in here if the other choices are closed or too busy.

CASHONLY Spicy cold pork to the rescue! We love this dish so much and they made a great one here. Their spicy beef noodle soup was on the bland side, but the beef was super tender and fell apart in my mouth. Just add some soy sauce, vinegar sauce, and spicy chili oil and it will wake up the flavor. The scallion pancakes came out extra crispy! It was hot and delicious. It paired perfectly with the spicy beef noodle soup. The individual rice bowls are $ 1 each but it was enough to feed us 2. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience here. Their service was extremely attentive and friendly. I wanted extra broth in my soup and they immediately got it for me, with no extra cost. Also I wanted more chili oil and he grabbed it right away. (There was a break in communication, but with the right hand motions they were able to understand quickly) About $ 26 for everything we ordered.

«Honey am I dying?» We’ll get back to that later… Went to find a good Ramen soup for this cooler than usual Southern California day. We have been to this little center on Jeffrey and Walnut many times to shop in the 99 store. After circling the parking lot over and over(if you’ve been there you know what I mean) we finally found a parking place. Now to choose our restaurant. This center is busy! And I mean it seems like every Asian in Irvine eats at one of about 15 restaurants here. So off we go. The only two round eyes here. We decided to try Wei Shian Noodles because they were new AND because their was an open table. After looking around w at the other patron’s dishes we decided upon the Spicy Beef noodle soup, The Spicy Wonton in Chili Sauce and the pork pies. Once the decisions ended the experience began… What incredible flavor in everything we ate! The spicy wontons in Chili sauce had the most amazing combination of Asian flavors and heat. The beef in the noodles was perfectly cooked and just melted in your mouth. The noodles were fresh and plentiful. The pork pies were ground pork seasoned with chili’s and green onions and wrapped in what appeared to be large wonton wrappers. Very very flavorful. Every bite just bursts with spicy goodness. Now, back to the beginning statement. I have been around the world and eaten in many countries. I have never had my tongue and lips go numb while eating. Until today. I was sipping my broth and contemplating whether or not I was beginning to experience an allergic reaction and is this what it felt like when my BF states«something is wrong. my tongue and lips are numb!» It feels like Novocain! We laughed and laughed at our initial thoughts and then ran home to Google it and find that most likely the soups contained the Sichuan Pepper. What an experience! What a meal! I will definitely be back. Thank you!
