today I stopped in to purchase 3 sandwiches… however after I paid the $ 40 I watched the young lady grab her cell phone, text, put the phone back in her back pocket then grab the bread without any food service gloves or washing her hands. I then watched as she pulled the phone out again while she was handling the chicken, switched hands and handled the food without any regards to cleanliness! I immediately left the establishment and will not go back there! the staff should have on food service gloves and wash their hands! very dirty establishment!

Steak sub is ok… the roll is awesome, but the sandwich lacked flavor. my biggest complaint is the cheese… provolone? really? There should be an american cheese option at least. It would make the sandwich that much better.

Favorite place to get a steak sub(big plus is its not far from the house). I’m a fan of the snack size. 8″ triple ribeye steak, triple grilled onions, triple provolone cheese. I like to top mine off with bacon bits, grilled green peppers, and grilled jalapeños. Seasonings as well. Runs me about $ 13 bucks, $ 16 with a dew and some salt and vinegars. Must have if you’re in Irving.

Stopped by here to meet someone to buy something off Craigslist and boy did this guy pick a great place to meet. While I waited I popped in to get a steak sub. I’m a fan, plain and simple and it’s because everything works well here. From the bread, to the thin strips of steak, to the melted cheese. I also added some mushroom, provolone, lettuce, tomato, salt and vinegar to the mix. It’s a very unassuming place but big on flavor. I’ll probably be back to try their other sandwiches … but I doubt that, I think I’ll have to eat that steak sub at least another 20 times before I can bring myself to order anything else.

The best sandwich in Texas. I recently moved to Austin and crave their steak submarine with the delicious hot sauce they have!

The steak sandwiches and chili are tasty enough for a return trip. But they nickel-and-dime you to death when it comes to the extra toppings! Also one of the girls could’ve simply told me that they were out of chili. They made me wait an extra ten minutes while they heated up more chili.

The chili was way overpriced for what it offered. It was bland and had no type of substance or flavor whatsoever. The sandwich was average at best and the employees seemed to have a slight attitude if you did not know exactly what to order or if you had questions(first time there).

This place has been as long as I have been born! I am 33yrs old. Back in the day they had pizza and they had one called the«Olympic» size. They do not sell pizza anymore darn the luck. Well double steak is my fav. They also have some hot sauce next to the soda machine. Grab some it’s pretty good on your sub. I would come in after 2pm after rush so that you can grab a spot to enjoy it. During lunch rush it is busy.

Service — 4 Food — 2 Atmosphere — 1 I wish I had more stars give them. I ordered the«Snack» and navy bean soup. I believe all of it could’ve have been cooked better with the same ingredients. The meat for the cheesesteak wasn’t prepared and cooked on the cooktop correctly… The cheese wasn’t melted in right and the seasoning(good) was an after thought and not cooked into the meat… The onions weren’t even cooked into the meat. They were cooked way before hand put on after. The navy bean soup was waaaay over salted… They need to taste while cooking and before serving… Simple things they can do to make a better product… I probably won’t go back, because it didn’t feel like an off night, just the way they’ve always done it and will continue to do.

It was a good steak sub. The bread was delicious, other than that nothing really special. It was better than your typical chain restaurant sandwiches. The money value was not good, it was expensive for what they give you. All bread and hardly any meat.

I cannot believe what just happened to me at Captain Nemos… I went in this evening at three minutes before nine ordered my meal the chairs were all up on the tables there was one customer sitting down I put a chair down sat down they brought me my steak sandwich in a bag and said I had to leave I said what do you mean? I’m going to eat no you have to leave we close at nine I was there before nine. I have been eating at Captain Nemos for 15 years… They go through employees one after the other they’re always different when you come in each time. The food is great but tonight the service was the worst ever the three employees that were working tonight should be reprimanded if not fired it will be a while before I return to Captain Nemos… Bill you can get in touch with me thru ken j…

I moved out from Michigan a year ago. In metro Detroit there are Nemo’s everywhere. Imagine my surprise when I see that they have a shop 4 blocks from work out here in Irving! Sandwiches taste just as I remembered! Great to learn that they have a place I can still get one of the delicious sandwiches out here in Texas!

After hearing so many good things about this place on Unilocal and word of mouth, I finally ventured out from Carrollton and made the 30 minute drive to Irving Saturday evening after work to check this place out… WELLWORTHTHEDRIVEANDTIME! Had the«16″ double» traditional sizzling steak sub(ordered extra meat though), and melted provolone, dressed«as it comes» with lettuce, tomato’s, onions, special seasoning and vinegar and oil… OHMYGOD! HANDSDOWNONEOFTHEBESTSANDWICHES I’VEEVEREATEN! Yeah you have to pay extra for the cheese. but who cares! This is THEBOMB! The tender thin sliced ribeye steak was cooked to order… and cooked to perfection as well! Hot and juicy on the bread… none of this pre made meat like you get at other sub shops… the cheese melted into it… and the other«dressing items» just were meant to go together with it! And the bread roll!!! Made in house, and so fresh it just melts in your mouth! Hats off to you folks! You have a winner with this one! Cant wait to come back and try another… along with a bowl of your ham and bean soup… it smelled wonderful! Oh and the staff was very friendly as well! Definitely a bit of a whole in the wall, but I can see why they have lasted so long! Excellent food just speaks for itself!

Not seeing all the hype on this one. I think the sandwiches had less meat than expected, and I could barely taste the seasoning, and I found it kind of ridiculous that you have to pay extra for cheese. I also had to wipe off the table covered in mustard and crumbs myself, but that’s sort of expected when I come at peak lunch times. I will say the service was great other than that I just thought it would be more filling for the single, and found it kind of off putting to pay extra for cheese. But I’ll be back to try again at a different time, when it won’t be so busy.

What a fantastic sub shop! The bread here is fantastic! I could probably just eat a whole loaf of just that on it’s own. I had the sizzling steak sub and it was delicious and perfectly seasoned.

This place used to be the spot back in the days. Not now since we have other options and variety. I stopped by for something to eat. Wasnt craving anything in particular. I was just hungry! feed the cat! I ended up with a traditional sandwich. it didnt wow me over. It was just a regular sandwich. It was okay… nothing to rave about. I can tell this building has been here for along time. Kudos to them!

While I’ve been distracted by BBQ and TexMex since moving to Dallas few months ago, sandwich shops haven’t yet slipped below my radar, and I’ve had great experiences at both Uncle Über’s( ) and especially Gandolfo’s Food Truck( ). Needing a third to establish a good benchmark, I decided to give Captain Nemo’s a go. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? I feel bad for Nemo’s to be honest. Not only are they tucked away essentially in a residential area, but there’s an absurd amount of construction going on in the area that makes it quite a bear to get to. However, service is quick and friendly, and I can’t complain. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? A good sammy is expensive these days, so while I didn’t collapse upon hearing that my 16″ Steak Sandwich would be $ 13.85, I was expecting a monster… … and a monster is exactly what I received: This was a colossus. There’s no other way to put it. Easily two meals, and possibly three. For $ 13.85? That’s fair. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Good stuff. The bread was without a doubt the highlight, and you could easily tell that it’s baked fresh. From there, the meat portion was a bit weak(see the pic), but the mushrooms, onions and jalapenos tasted fresh. Overall, the sandwich was just a tad bit greasy for my liking, and it took away just a bit from the overall flavor. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I had a good time at Captain Nemo’s, and they serve up a nice sandwich, but I didn’t like it quite as much as Uncle Über’s or Gandolfo’s, so I can’t honestly give the star here. No Star Granted.
