I love coming here for breakfast on the weekends. No wait, friendly staff and excellent food especially the homemade flour tortillas. Just the way my grandma used to make them My family and I will frequent this restaurant

Excellent authentic Mexican cuisine. Not the fancist, but if you want the best food and the most authentic visit Danal’s. They have the best salsa on the planet.

Where do I even start? The overall verdict before I go into detail is mediocre food and BEYONDHORRIBLE service. Today was the second time we have eaten at Danal’s. My husband and I sat at our table for about 5 mins before even being acknowledged. Guy brought by chips and salsa(their salsa is indeed delicious, but the chips were stale) but didn’t take our drink order. 5 more minutes or so before drink orders taken. 5 more before we get them. Server barely gave us the time of day, was less than friendly, and let drinks go unfilled forever though we could see her other tables and interaction with other guests. It wasn’t busy, but the table of 9 people who left when we arrived was never touched or bussed the entire time we were there – just mounds of dirty plates and empty glasses(and her tip money that was, in my opinion, way more generous than it should have been) just sitting there, flies buzzing around, while she laughed in the kitchen with coworkers for 40ish minutes. The food was just OK. I got fajitas and he got carne asada and they both came out lukewarm, most likely because she was too busy not giving a crap about her job and let them sit for a while before bringing them to us. The last few minutes we were ready for boxes/the check, my husband stared RIGHT at her for minutes while she chatted casually with a coworker before she finally came to our table. I honestly can’t stress how ridiculously bad the service was. I’ve been here with and without a Groupon and I can warn you now that it’s not worth it either way. It’s a shame that they don’t take more pride in what they do because it COULD be a good restaurant, but until/unless they start caring about the service at their business, you are MUCH better off taking your money to one of the hundreds of other BETTER Mexican restaurants in the area. This place is a cruel joke.

Tried to barbacoa con chile, it was very tasty but too greasy. I was really hoping they had lengua in stock but oh well. They do however offer pitchers of margaritas so that deserves a star in itself. Very little clientel, maybe because of the rain, so the waitstaff was very attentive. Not enough variety to really earn that 4th star, but hey it’ tex mex.

Food is disgusting. Rice tasted like it’s been sitting out for 2 days. Beef enchilada was raw, see picture. Margarita tasted nasty, we ordered a pitcher and barely touched it. Toilet water. Service is long, there were only 3 tables with customer! This place is nasty. This used to be our go to place for good margaritas and good food. They even have daisy sour cream tub on the ceiling for a can light. Never again.

The food is very good. The only poor thing about this place is the waitresses. They are a little rude but if you can look past that the food is super good and decently priced.

Great authentic Mexican food! We love coming to this place and can’t ever leave without having their Menudo! We order Menudo to go about twice a month from here and it’s amazing every time!

The shrimp rellenos are probably my favorite. The fajitas actually filled my guy up… no small feat for a man 6’5″ and 300 lbs. My daughter loves the cheese enchiladas and the cheesecake.

I bought a groupon for lunch. Most reviews say the place looks like a dive but they serve great food. A dive would have been about 10 steps up. Waitress took almost 5 minutes to come over. She took our(my fiancé and I) drink orders and after adjusting our orders because they didn’t have what their menu advertised left to give us a few minutes to glance at the menu. About a minute after she left some guy came by and gave us some chips and warm flavorless tomato broth(their failed attempt at salsa. The chips were too thick and based on the taste the oil the chips were fried in had about 3 years worth of raunchy mold as a top coat. The waitress came back with the drinks and we reluctantly gave our orders. 2 out of 3 items we had ordered were not available. At that point we decided enough was enough and walked out. We may have lost the Groupon but the $ 9 we paid was definately less than a hospital visit for food poisoning which is all I would expect from that place. I would expect that any positive review of this place is either written by an employee or someone associated with the business in another way. No way this place could ever be even a 2 star joint. Good luck(if you go) and don’t say you weren’t warned!!! Enter at your own risk :)

If I could take a bath in tortillas, I’d do it at Danal’s. Best tortillas in DFW — hands down. They are warm, thin, grilled to perfection on what must be a well-seasoned comal. The food was good for being an authentic little mexican joint(complete with delicious menudo on the weekends) but it has gotten a tad pricey since I last made my way to Irving.

Horrible service, dirty and liars and cheats! Went to have a drink at the bar with two friends. Ordered tequila shots. She asked if I wanted Patron, I said no house tequila or whatever is cheapest. She poured the tiniest thimble shot and charged $ 7.50 each. When I complained she outright lied and suddenly pretended she couldn’t understand English! Manager was no better and creepy to boot. As I was sitting there, I noticed the hurricane glasses hung above the bar were filthy! There were flies and those little gnat things in the restroom. I see food poisoning in the near future!!! DON’T WASTEYOURTIME, MONEYORHEALTH!!!

I grew up here and know every hole in the wall restaurant in Irving. The food is good. Used to be great. I only eat lunch here during the week while working and my boss and I get the worst service you could ever imagine. It takes 10 minutes to get a server and when she does come over after passing us several times she is ver rude and short. Not to mention she barely speaks English. And I get that I’m in a Mexican restaurant. But there has to be some communication. In my honest opinion, I believe we are treated like this because of out skin color. I see a completely different attitude with the Hispanics at the table next to me. I have seen people come in after me and get their food before I even get my drink. When you’re on your lunch, you need quick service. Overall good food. Very bad service.

Giving Danal’s 1 star is a stretch BUT, it wouldn’t let me select anything less… I was a long time patron of their restaurant until today. I had a $ 25 gift certificate from and, upon using the GC, I was told they would not accept it b/c I was using it before 4:00.HUH?!! I wasn’t aware that GC had time restrictions. I should probably check the times on my VISA gift card too I suppose… Anyway, as I tried explaining to the gentleman that there wasn’t any verbiage stating those«restrictions» he finally agreed to take it at 11:47 am even though it was before 4:00. What a nice guy! BUTWAITTHERE’S MORE! So, as he got my hopes up, he looked on the GC and noticed there was a $ 37.50 minimum purchase and my purchase was only $ 31. 32. «No problem» I said«Just add another meal or dessert to make up the difference so that I can use my GC». He then tells me that he can’t do that and I would need to purchase a minimum of $ 40. SAYWHAT!!! So, you don’t want to accept my GC before 4 and now you are changing the restrictions RIGHTINFRONTOFMYFACE!!! Well, since we’re changing stuff for the heck of it how about I change my bill to ZERO because that’s all I want to pay! SO, when I point out the obvious«price adjustment» he made to the special instructions, he couldn’t give me a valid reason as to why he was changing the amount and why he wouldn’t just give me an extra meal to make up my price difference. Finally, after getting so frustrated, I told him I would just pay the whole amount, and would NEVER return to his establishment again. Growing up in Irving all my life, I’m a little sad to say good bye to Danal’s as it was a long time favorite of mine.

We used to frequent this place for years, but the last 2 years, the service, quality and value has severely gone downhill. It sucks cause it’s so close to my home and an Irving TexMex classic. :(

The guiso was good… tortillas were cold even though they are made in house. My wife’s tamales was spoiled… the waitress was good, the food was not.

Very poor service with very average food. They managed to run out of rice at 6:15pm on a Saturday night. Food was only luke warm after waiting over 30 minutes for it to be prepared. No one in the restaurant has command of the English language. We will not be back.

This place is hard to judge. Simply based on food, it is a very good understated Mexican restaurant. Divey as all get out and this is coming from someone who fancies independent quaint spots. For all the good food, the place was a little too grimey for me. I could not take my eyes off the water damaged ceiling while I ate. Still, I decided to keep the high score as I did not suffer any repercussions from my meal. Carry out might be a better option for me next time.

Greeted by the 1980’s era menu photography and creepy mariachi dude at the front door, you know what you’re getting into when you step in the door at Danal’s. We came here in a large group for a birthday celebration and while many in our group had dined here before, I was in for my first time experience at Danal’s. To start off, let me review what I liked about Danal’s. First of all, it’s cheap. You can order pitchers of margaritas and huge plates of Tex Mex for not a lot of lettuce. They have $ 3.50 domestic and $ 4.00 import bottled beers. I also liked the chips and salsa(albeit, warm salsa). As far as the entrees… eh, I’d call mine average(the fajita nachos) but several people at the table enjoyed their entrees. In terms of the service, I’d say it’s quick efficient but not friendly. I don’t’ ever remember here saying for the 2 words the whole evening. And even though the place was half full, I felt like we were being hurried on as if there was some sort of imminent rush of diners. Several previous reviews called the food authentic although I’d call that a stretch. It’s definitely not Mexican cuisine but it is some very greasy Tex Mex if that’s what you’re in the mood for. And if you desire live music, there was a live mariachi band just getting started as we were about to leave. South Irving isn’t my usual hangout spot so I’m not sure if I’ll ever be back but if home style Tex Mex is what you crave after a terrible hangover, Danal’s just might be your spot!

Rooster calling my name If you ever crave menudo early in the morning to help you forget last night’s libations Danal’s is where you should go. The restaurant isn’t in the fanciest location, but neither is the restaurant. You can find it by looking for sign with the rooster. The bad faux Mexican interior and haphazard décor should be ignored, you are there for the food. While the interior isn’t anything to wire about, the food is pretty darn tasty. My favorite is the menudo, the perfect recovery breakfast. It’s served with the traditional tortillas, lime, cilantro and onion. Add some hot sauce for a little bite. If you are not a fan of sitting down to eat there, pick it up and take it home, they sell it by the pint. Cock of the walk
