After running an errand in a gritty part of suburban Irving, I noticed this colorful plant shop bursting with wildflowers and green leaves next to an ugly grocery store. The sign says, «Gardenias» but the very Texan man behind the counter, preoccupied, slow, and wearing a plaid western shirt, said that they weren’t related to the grocery store, and they were called Gibsons. Lavender, Salvia, okra, sage and black eyed susans were some of the goodies taking a day long sunbath. Plants looked healthy. Prices were very cheap, a large terra cotta pot and a large black eyed susan plant cost me ten bucks and change. Sometimes a simple gift like this is cheaper, and prettier, than a bouquet of flowers, and they last longer. Well, this was a gift to myself. Thanks Gibson.
