This place used to be really good and have awesome customer service. I dont know what happened but the last time we went it was horrible and we tried to go on Sunday to brunch and the bartender was sitting there digging in her purse for at least 3 or 4 minutes and never acknowledged us then they were out of plates. I told my girlfriend let’s go they have no plates I front of the hostess and some I believe to be the manager they said nothing. They just let me walk out. I wont go back to this location. If you want to try it go to the Dallas location.

I think I have been spoiled by the location in Dallas. The wait was extra long for the Sunday Brunch but they didn’t keep the food out and it was crowded around the serving area. They didn’t take reservations and I was sat by the kitchen which was very loud and plenty of foot traffic. I hate to complain but the uptown Dallas branch is ran a lot smoother.

Great place for a Sunday brunch with friends. The variety of food is awesome and it’s good tasting. The highlight is the fresh made waffles… they are to die for! Unlimited mimosas can’t ask for more this makes the experience even better. I always leave fat, happy and full!!!

I absolutely love this restaurant! The chips and salsa are the best I’ve found in the area, they are almost addicting. I get the chicken fajitas and my husband gets the Chava every time we come to Mattitos, they never disappoint. We used to come every Saturday when they had happy hour after 8; they have a margarita called«Rumbarita»… It’s AMAZING. You only need one but I always go for two, lol.

Okay so NYE I went to a Mattito and was sold from the Bob Armstrong. I decided to eat here again and I wasnt as blown away anymore. The Bob Armstrong was good but I think it was amazing because I had a few drinks before eating. I got their«Texas Enchiladas» and it was okay. It was literally cheese wrapped in flour tortilla with small chunks of beef ontop. I thought it’d at least have chicken/steak inside it and melted. The cheese wasn’t even melted… it was like a block of cheese. I guess I cant complain its Tex-Mex. The service was good but food didnt blow me away.

Is it the best Tex-Mex ever? Probably not. But it’s convenient, it’s consistent, and, well, Bob Armstrong. It’s an indulgent place — you won’t find many calorie-conscious choices, so save this place for a cheat day.

After my initial review, I received a message from the owner, Jim Lannom. He was apologetic and accountable for his team, and that alone meant so much to me. He wanted to find out more about the situation and then even sent me a gift card to try out his restaurant again. So glad he did because we really enjoyed the food and have gone back a couple times since. He rectified the situation immediately– I’m sorry I’m just now able to put the update up. Thank you again, Mr. Lannom!

I recently stopped in for lunch. The service was excellent. I had the lunch fajitas lite and enjoyed a lighter Mexican meal. On the lite version, the meat is cooked without oil and the veggies are broccoli and cauliflower instead of onions and peppers. The beef was a little tough but overall a good meal. The chips and salsa were average which is why they get three stars. In Texas, you need to make an excellent salsa!

Service was terrible at this place! We reserved the indoor patio for 8 of us. Food was just average and waitress didn’t check on us often. Despite of which, we were still talking and having a good time, then the old lady with short white hair working at the bar started complaining about us to other customers. Even the customers felt bad for us and pointed at her to us. Worst part was she asked the server to close the door to the patio on us! That was just straight up rude! If you want to have a nice dinner and get-together with your friends and family, don’t go to this place. They are anti-fun. We know we won’t. Sorry Mattito’s! We have better places to spend our money at.

Went here for happy hour with some friends yesterday evening. The place wasn’t busy, yet when we walked in we had to stare at the hostess before she even acknowledged us. Their Happy Hour drink specials are pretty good. The Rumba is delish, only $ 5, and pretty strong! They offer free appetizers — quesadillas, chimichangas, and queso which were pretty meh, but hey it was free so I can’t complain. So why the 1 star you ask? The service here is absolutely terrible. Like I said, it wasn’t busy at all yet it still took 10 minutes to get chips and salsa. Our waitress would disappear for 15 – 20 minutes at a time. She barely checked in on us. All the servers were actually standing around the hostess stand chatting it up — too busy gossiping to serve their tables. Horrible service. I would come again, solely for the drink specials, but I will never come to eat a meal or expecting decent service.

My wife and I got the Brisket Quesadillas, which were very good! We got the beef fajitas and a burrito… not bad, but also didn’t stand out to be amazing. My biggest complaint about the place is that it is so loud… I felt like my wife and I were yelling at each other through the whole meal. So I would go back to the place, just not on a Friday night when we can’t even talk to each other.

I’d forgotten how good this place was! Our server was Stephanie, and she was awesome! The service and food are both impeccable. The portions are generous, and this was the lunch menu! Didn’t get a chance to try the drinks because it was lunch hour, but everything was great! Order the Bob Armstrong for appetizer(shhh, it’s a secret).

Worst Mexican food I have had since I moved back from North Carolina. I would have rather gone to Panchos! The beans had random crusted burnt pieces like I would imagine if they were leftovers from yesterday and reheated. The rice was lukewarm and blah… and the fajita steak was chewy and hardly edible. I don’t see how places like this stay in business. I guess because it is a busy area? This isn’t the type of place I could imagine someone going to a second time. This is the kind of place you don’t send your food back because you look at what others around you have and it is apparent that all of the food is disgusting… This is Texas! How are you still in business!!! Gross… never again… and please don’t contact me to try to «rectify the situation». There is nothing you can do… I happen to know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. How can you screw up beans and rice??? 15 dollars for lunch fajitas and crappy tea(and I love tea). I should have just went to the vending machine for lunch or QT…

This place has gone downhill in terms of service and food quality. The margaritas have gotten weaker too. The Bob Armstrong dip is about the only thing worth going for

I am super disappointed. I’ve been here multiple times with pleasant experiences but the service today was extremely slow! The waitress seemed distracted or confused. The food was decent as usual but I was so put off by the service I couldn’t enjoy it to its full potential. I’m going to chalk this up adjust a bad night. Luckily I’ve been here before and had much better experiences.

This was my first visit to this location of Mattito’s having been to the downtown location many moons ago. I joined a group of friends on this Saturday afternoon lunch and we were promptly seated in a large comfy corner booth. First things first — TS margaritas please, with plenty of Grand Marnier and they were delivered with that beautiful golden color that indicates they’ll be perfect even before the first taste. Just delicious! The chips and salsa were okay; I am very picky about my chips being wafer thin, a little oily and salted; they were close but did not rate a «5» on the scale; more like a 2.5−3. However, I enjoyed my fair share of these. The salsa was pretty good, just chunky enough to my liking with an acceptable heat level. Ahhh, the Bob Armstrong dip — although not on the menu, it will be served upon request. It’s a must have! Creamy Queso with assorted peppers, beef, guacamole and sour cream. This could be a meal in itself. The one bowl served to the 5 of us quickly disappeared, all vying for that last scoop! I ordered a small guacamole along with a chicken enchilada with the cilantro cream sauce. Their guac is quite good, chunky with tomatoes and onions which I douse with several squeezes of lemon. Ummm, that enchilada was simply yumalicious; tender moist chicken slathered in the tasty, slightly spicy cream sauce. Rich and filling. Other orders around the table included nachos, bean burrito, tacos, etc. There was a lot of quiet periods as everyone dug into their meal of choice. Nary a complaint heard from the satisfied diners. The pre-teen in our group always has to have dessert. She apparently enjoyed the flan as she did not offer to share. Plate cleaned. Service was outstanding. Our server never let our margs, beers, cokes go unreplaced along with the chips and salsa. As I usually get our server’s name, since another in our party picked up the check, I forgot to ask. My bad for sure as he deserves a glowing«5» on the Unilocal scale. Yes, this is a definite return visit in the near future! KUDOS to you Mattito’s, job well done!

Squarely mediocre. The salsa is good though. The queso is thick and needs more seasoning, but not terrible. The shrimp fajitas were small. The shrimp were seasoned and cooked well. The vegetables were undercooked, very crunchy. The refritoes good though. This place is good enough if I don’t want to drive farther. Solid 3 star.

Oh boy… Where so I begin. The ONLYREASON this place is not getting a 1star is because the guacamole was GREAT! Otherwise, I couldn’t even pretend that I liked the food to my hubby who wanted to eat with me on his way to DFW. 1. Waitress clothes were dirty, what’s up with that? Seriously? Have you staff look clean and presentable. Makes me think the restaurant isn’t clean in general. 2. My rice was grainy and hard. I know what rice should taste like, fluffy and soft like a cloud. I felt like I was eating 2 day old rice that came out of the fridge. The salmon was dry as cardboard and the piece they give you a slither. For that price I ate at the Gaylord a perfectly cooked bigger piece of fish back in Dec. The presentation was super sloppy. It looked like they threw everything on the plate and sauce was dripping off from the side. The only good thing on the plate were the well seasoned veggies. 3. Hubby’s seafood tacos with scallops — was it scallops or erasers? I can’t tell… it was SUPER chewy. I HATE writing bad reviews, seriously, I much rather praise a place but when you have flag down a staff(since they are by the hostess stand all chit chatting among themselves to notice you might need something) or pay $ 40 for a crappy meal. It’s hard to say anything nice. I hope the managerial staff reads this and retrains their staff(EVERYDPT).

This review is only for the Sunday Brunch. In a way, the brunch reminded me of the food on a cruise ship(lido deck sytle!), because the food isn’t the best, but it’s fresh, refilled often and people are waiting for it like they haven’t eaten in weeks. Plus, the patio doors were open letting in a nice cool breeze and the bright colors made me feel like I was on vacation. All around you, you will see a ton of families in shorts and flip flops all trying to get food all at once. and completely making a huge mess and not caring because it’s a buffet. But it’s alright, people! Because the mimosas are unlimited and they just keep on coming! Here’s my guide: Most people go on and on about the omelette station and the waffles, which I don’t even bother with. When you pick up a plate you start off with more of the american stuff, with bacon, eggs, potatoes and the such which for me is just distraction. I come for the tex-mex items and with hyper-laser concentration, my plate remains empty until I arrive to the fish with salsa verde. Then I slap on a couple scoops of rice and grab the chicken chile relleno and finish it off with some raisins and walnut chunks just the way I like it. Is the food the best tex mex? No, but for 18 bucks and unlimited mimosas, I will overlook some technicalities. Their chile relleno isn’t going to be the huge monsters you get when you order it a la carte, but rather it’s just the pepper(no batter, it doesn’t seem) stuffed with meat and topped with sour cream, cheese and two different salsas. The ceviche MAY be tiny shrimps and veggies in V8 juice, but again, I’m giving this place 4 stars because of the overall experience. Tip: Sit at the bar if it’s just you and a friend for extra service. Anytime my glass was near half, Cindy(bartender) would load me back up. And for that, I salute you, Ms. Awesomely Observant Bartender Lady! You’re a true Real American Hero! BTW, what ever happen to the Bud Light Real American Heroes commericals? Those were the best!
