Pretty darn good pan dulce. Try the cuernitos con queso. I’ve seen some other stuff I keep saying I’m going to try, but I usually just buy like 200 cuernitos, and some conchas. :-)

I been living in DFW for 10 years, and I been looking for good Mexican sweet bread, and I found it. We grew up having really good bread because our uncle had a bakery, where the best«premium» sweet bread was made, and we have a distinct taste for the good stuff. First of all, a great bakery is one where the bread is still soft, when you get home, and even on the day after(most places around here, you can use the bread pieces as door stops the day after); Second of all, the bread has to have some quality ingredients(most places add commercial ingredients to make the most money, sacrificing quality); Third, you have to know how to make Campechanas(a buttery crispy layer bread, that most places don’t have, or choose not to make because it requires extra work, and extra butter, to make the most delicious«melt in your mouth» piece of bread)(most places never even heard of it); and last but not least(just like in a good Mexican restaurant the Mexican rice is what makes or breaks the restaurant), your Conchas or Molletes, have to be the (and not only right after they come out of the oven, but for the next 24 to 48 hours). Their prices are fair, a few cents more than larege commercial places, but well worth it! This place made my day, and my year, and I will share this experience with many of my friends in the DFW, because it passed my test. I gave them 5 stars, because I could not give them 4.75, and 4 stars would not be enough. I didn’t see Ojarascas(wedding cookies) or large Semitas de ajonjoli y canela(a not so sweet bread, that resembles a Rosca de Reyes without the toppings, and the bread mix is mixed with crushed cinnamon) like the ones my uncle made every time we came to visit, but next time I come over, I will ask for someone in charge and share pictures of what I want, and see if they want to convince me to give them a full 5 stars.

This place is amazing! You don’t know fresh bread and pan dulce until you’ve been here. You can’t beat the variety here and the sweet bread tastes like it just came out of the oven. I try to come every once in a while all the way from burleson for these amazing treats.

True story. So a coworker’s birthday was coming up and I was appointed to bring in the cake. I know! How dare they assign a rookie with no cake buying experience right? Well folks my irresponsibility and negligence was demonstrated needless to say. So the day of the birthday comes and as I’m getting ready for work, I realized that I forgot to pre-order the cake from Tom Dump. Boy I was devastated. Three mentos later and I start to speed over to Sun Bakery like im some kind of Jimmy John’s driver. I go in and behold, Tres Leches Cake baybeh! Well I don’t need to tell yall how the rest went because the cake was the star of the show. Moral of the story: don’t assign me the cake? Perhaps. But I was going to say that this little gem of an establishment makes everything to perfection. They put pride in their pastries and it tastes.

Panaderia El Sol has a very good selection of donuts and other Latin-American bakery items. Couldn’t figure out what most of the items meant but the few ones I got were definitely good. They do have coffee and made-to-order cake. It is a very inexpensive place with most of the individual bakery items under ¢80.

Knead to Know One of the things I love with my morning coffee, on a weekend, is a soft pastry. A freshly made, still warm, «pan dulce»(sweet bread, but not the beef kind). I love knowing that less than a 5 min drive is Panaderia El Sol(Sun Bakery) where they make fresh bread every day. I normally like an early morning bread run, to pick up Conchas, Empanadas, cake, donuts, marranitos, among my favorites. Now, I could try to explain what each pastries looks and tastes like. On the other hand, the bread here is so cheap(most pieces run about 50¢, that for $ 5 you could easily bring home a couple of bags full to try out and discover your own favorites. Pick up a platter and some tongs and get to picking. Who kneads more?
