Starbucks

Sorry, the star is for the location. Not the barista. Almost everyone of their outlet but broken since weeks and they hadn’t fix it. Many people come here to study and use their laptop. Another thing is their wifi is always slow. Very slow.

This location is super busy, so it takes a bit longer to get your drink but they are always super friendly!

You know, I’m not a complainer, I’m not. And I truly try to find the good in most situations, but after sitting in line at this Starbucks for exactly 20 minutes and paying my $ 10 for a coffee and a pastry, I was done. I watched the cars pile up behind me and that was a curse because the way this drive thru is setup, I couldn’t get out even if I wanted to! The person at the drive thru taking orders was so sweet, and he was really apologetic after I asked him what the hold up was. I was really confused because for the most part he was just standing there?!? He wasn’t making drinks and there was not espresso machine near the window, which meant only one person was making hot drinks, and one person was making frappacinos. Like why!!! A Starbucks this big and busy should have two machines churning out drinks! And looking in, not one employee had an ounce of urgency regarding the pile up. And that’s why they get 1 star. Oh and my extra hot drink was not extra hot when I got it. I know, first world problems. Sue me.

Day two this wk of my frustration with this location I don’t understand how there’s 4 to 5 people working and you can’t get my drink on time, it’s 609 in the morning there’s nobody in line and 4 of y’all cannot get it together!!! The only reason I have to come back to this location is because it’s on the way to work I cannot understand the way they all stand around talking to each other looking like they’re all lost on what the other one has to do and can’t get drinks out on time??? Please train the staff to get people in and out !!!

I’ve been a Starbucks fan for more than fifteen years and I’m a dedicated gold card holder, as well as a frequent patron to this location due to its proximity to work… but that’s the only reason. Service here is extremely hit or miss, there are a couple faces I see often and they are FANTASTIC but the revolving door of others leave a lot to be desired. It’s never been enough to prompt me to act, just small things (wrong drinks, bad attitude, etc) but as a former Starbucks barista long, long ago I have a lot of sympathy and understanding for them and I’ve never felt the need to complain or make a big deal out of any of it.
Today, however, was ridiculous. I use the starbucks app, and it popped up with a notification this morning. «Try PSL Before Anyone!» Okay app, I will! It prompted me to «create a fan pass» which I did, and saved it to my phone. Just to be sure, I googled it – sure enough, USA Today, Buzzfeed, and a host of other news sources featured articles discussing that select fans could buy the drink early, today. Wonderful! Off I went, excited to drink an old favorite (although I read the syrup uses real pumpkin now – YES!)
I went up to the register, and showed the cashier my pass. She said «hold on I don’t think we have that» and went to the back. She said «Sorry, we don’t have flan anymore.» I said «What? No, this is for a pumpkin spice latte.» She was like «Oh no, I can’t make that for you.» I explained that I received an early pass and showed it to her again, and clarified that I’d still be buying the drink, it’s not a coupon, just permission to buy it early. She again said no, and that she had no idea what I was talking about. I pointed out that it’s a real thing, it’s all over the internet, and she went in the back.
Meanwhile, the drive-​through employee (who I did recognize, and she is one of the aforementioned FANTASTIC ones) turned around and sort of whispered «I know what you’re talking about, I’ve had those today, she just got here» (indicating the cashier who went in back) and then she told the barista to go ahead and make it anyway. The barista seemed confused and had some questions about number of shots, syrup, but she answered them. I looked over and said «it comes with whipped cream, right?» and she said yes. So I said «perfect, that’s exactly what I want».
After that we stood awkwardly at the register still waiting for the cashier to come back, and she did, but with a man this time. He also looked at me and said «no, we can’t make you a pumpkin spice latte.» I repeated myself, showed them my app, showed that the message was from starbucks, showed them some of the news articles… she tried to type in the code from my pass and said «see it won’t work» and I said «well it’s not a discount or anything, I just have to pay for it, you don’t need a code». The man said «fine» and went in back, the cashier kept on talking and said «well we will make you one but we aren’t supposed to. Nobody has told us anything about this. I don’t know why you would know about it and we wouldn’t»
Now I can understand the frustration of getting a coupon or promotion you didn’t know about. WELCOME TO RETAIL. But you don’t ever treat a customer like a liar who’s just making stuff up out of the blue. This is somebody in marketing’s fault for not communicating (or do they have a store manager who didn’t read their email this morning?) but it is not MY fault at all and I should not be treated that way! I was trying really hard to give them money for something and they treated me like some shady person trying to slide one past them.
I had my coworkers wait for my drink while I went outside and called the Starbucks customer service number. I just couldn’t let this one go. While I was on the phone with them my drink got done and we left and drove back to work. I got up to my office and took the lid off my drink to take the token instagram picture (you’re welcome for the free advertising) only to find NO whipped cream, and NO topping. Awesome. I know the three minute drive could have made the whipped cream flatten but no way did it straight up disappear and leave a one inch gap at the top of the cup. It wasn’t even white on top, just an even brown. No specks of the pumpkin spice to be seen. So on top of all of that, they left off like the best part.
I called the customer service number again to add that info. They were friendly both times but it sounded like they were just going to write an email. Whatever. I’d like to say I’ll never return but it’s literally three minutes (or less) from work whereas the closest other is at least fifteen. I’ll just go in ready to stand up for what I want, not give up, and always, ALWAYS check my drink before I leave. It shouldn’t have to be this much of a fight for coffee.

ALWAYS SO TERRIBLY SLOW. If I could take away the one star, I would. But hey I finally got to the window… too bad my one drink order was wrong… AGAIN! Needs a new manager and staff.

This has GOT to be the slowest moving drive-​thru in Starbucks history! 3 cars in line, 15 minutes to get my coffee!

Ms Claire and the staff up here are amazing! They always go above and beyond for me and treat me more like family than a customer! I recommend going to this Starbucks for fast service and a warm greeting! Thank you ms Claire!!!

I see some common themes in the reviews for this particular Sbux location: Poor customer service and deplorable conditions. I believe the reason lies in the fact that this place is way too small to accommodate customers. There used to be a location on Beltline and 183, but that has been closed down for over a year now. My theory is that because this location is the only one in Irving (I don’t consider Las Colinas to be the same as Irving proper.), there has been way too much demand and not enough supply. I never even attempt to come here anymore because it’s always way too crowded, the place is always trashed, and the environment is just not welcoming. Irving seriously needs more coffee options than Starbucks, as the «harvest» of coffee drinkers is plentiful, but the workers are few.

Worst Starbucks experience. Dirty. Poor customer service. Bad product. They don’t take your name, they use that weird «print out system». The older, grouchy woman expediting the drinks can’t be bothered to even call out the drink that is ready, so be warned– it is up to you and the 25 other coffee deprived customers waiting in line to figure out if that is your grande, latte, mocha, half-​caf, whip, frapp, soy whoozy-whatssy…that’s up there. And God forbid you ask Her Highness… what a pain in her ass we all were for her this morning! I will never go back. She ruined the start of my day and my flat white was made wrong in the end anyways (to top it all off).
What a waste of $ 5.00 and 25 minutes.

Drinks constantly taste different even after ordering the same thing day after day The drive-​thru service is extremely SLOW! Waited 10 minutes to even get to the menu to order. I’ve spent a total of 20 minutes waiting in the drive-​thru. Positive facts, the staff is friendly. But that’s about the only good thing.

I come here sometimes after a meal at India Imports. I always go inside rather than drive-​thru. The inside seating area is small and the staffs are nice and somewhat laid-​back.
The place can be a little carefree sometimes. I once asked for a stirrer as they were out of it in the holder. The lady looked for a while and came back and said they were out of it. It’s is a freaking Starbucks, how come you don’t have enough stirrer; what am I suppose to do, take a gulp and swirl it around with my tongue? Anyway, I used a straw.
Even though it is small inside, it somehow feels nice. Overall, a decent Starbucks stop.

This is mostly speaking of the drive thru as I never go inside the store. Great service! The coffee is hot and strong. I never get complicated drinks… usually an Americano or dark roast. The baristas are always friendly even at crazy o clock in the morning. They are also open bright and early brewing up my java! I am not in love with the location but if I’m in the area I will stop by the drive thru!

Fast and friendly,
They send you out with a positive cup of joe or tea or hot chocolate. I only stop here mornings and it’s always the same. Not attitudes, it doesn’t matter how long the line is they will quickly get your order.

My experience was terrible.
The cashier was rude and impatient.
I couldn’t think of the alternative of mocha cookie crumble, so I asked the cashier and she says «that’s seasonal.»
When I clearly said «what’s something like the cookie crumble?».
So I just looked on the menu for java chip instead.
My green tea latte.
My favorite drink came with the macha power chucks at the bottom of the drink.
My boyfriend wasn’t happy that my drink wasn’t good so he went back there to confront them.
They said I have the «option» for it to be stirred.
I love Starbucks, and iced green tea latte is my daily drink.
It should always be stirred.
I shouldn’t be drinking chunks of powder.
Tips to the store.
Customer is always right.
Don’t question it.
I’ve been working at 4 different restaurants.
Whenever something was wrong, don’t question it.
Just do it.

Decent service. Disgusting store.
The baristas were kind but the store was gross. The floor could stand to be mopped. There was trash scattered throughout. The counters even had trash on them. The trash cans, inside and especially out were overflowing! We sat outside on the patio for at least 45 minutes, no one changed the trash. It but continued to gain more litter and overflow onto the ground.
I’m going to assume the no smoking signs were just for show because multiple people smoked during my time at this location. Precious today I have only gone through the drive through, and after my visit today I will never be revisiting this location.

Today, once again, I tried the drive-​thru. There were 3 cars ahead of me and it took 35 minutes to get my order and drive away.
As usual, the Baristas working the window do not have any sense of urgency. They’d rather talk on the phone, good off with their coworkers (friends or family), or shoot the breeze with the car at the window — AFTER that car has been fully served. They usually get my order wrong, ask me to repeat it after changing places with each other, are out of what I want, or don’t have the proper paper supplies to serve what I want.
After closing several other stores in the area, this store — the smallest store anywhere — can’t handle the volume of business it has. Especially with poor management and poor employees.
I’m beginning to think Starbucks doesn’t care about it’s customers OR this store. That’s strange considering this store does the most business of all the stores in DFW. Or so I’ve been told by employees. Give us a bigger store, in the same neighborhood and maybe some of us won’t use the drive thru as much. And I’d like the employees we had this time last year.
My limited edition stainless steel card and my stock options might be best spent elsewhere.

The barista was on the phone and even though there were 4 of them on staff, including the manager training a new barista, none of them approached me to even get my ordered started. My tall nonfat latte tasted like burned milk and espresso shots that had died. I took it back, something I never do, but I needed a bump! They offered to remake it for free and even gave me an extra shot of espresso, as per request. But… it still wasn’t good. It smelled off and was not drinkable.
As a former Starbucks barista, they shame the name.

I give this location 1 star because out of ALL of the Starbucks locations I have been to in several states and all over DFW spending hundreds of dollars (probably thousands by now), I can easily say that this location is pathetic.
There is simply no direction here. Who is even in charge? The turn-​over rate is horrendous. The only good thing about this location… well, she moved to Chicago… so, there’s that.
I’ve been there on several occasions when they have run out of syrups, cups, even lids. They seem to be clueless.
The last time I went, and why I even went AGAIN when I swore I wouldn’t, they gave me a messy cup that dripped on my shirt and… They didn’t even put sugar pumps in the drink and tried to tell ME that it wasn’t sweet because I get 4 shots in my drink.
Let me settle down…
Okay… I’ve been getting 4 shots in my drink for… hmmmmm…7 years now??? Yep… about that. So, I do know the difference between a strong, less sweet drink due to 4 shots and NO SUGAR PUMPS AT ALL.
Okay, okay, sorry.
Anyhow… The reason I swore I would never go there again is because of several reasons. It was the end all of end all’s…
A. They have an elderly woman (no offense, I’ll be there one day soon) that works there and she doesn’t know the Starbucks lingo… She wasn’t «gettin» me.
B. The guy at the window (that took over after the elderly lady couldn’t understand me) was clueless. He kept putting his hands up like he was lost.
C. I waited in the drive-​thru line (1 person was at the window when I pulled up, 1 person was ordering (2 grande drinks that took 8 minutes to make, yes I counted) and then myself)… 23 total minutes. Granted, I don’t know what the 1^st car had, but I SAW the 2 grande drinks given to the 2^nd car.
D. They had drinks piling up on the counter behind mine while the drive-​thru guy was MIA. He comes back, gives me my drink and when I ask where my cream cheese Danish is (soooo good), he says it’s heating up. DUDE, I have been at the window for at LEAST 5 minutes and you were JUST NOW heating up my Danish?!?
My drink was a Quad Grande Carmel Frap and I asked for it to be in a Venti cup or a Tretna since my drink is almost $ 10. 2 different cups will work as well. I don’t care, but I want all of my drink that I’m paying for.
So, I did send a lengthy email to Starbucks. They replied. They were nice. Forwarded my email to their general manager and the manager of the store. BUT… Per another store in Irving, this store doesn’t even HAVE a manager… Unless my email got them fired. In which case, that sucks, but managing is NOT their forte.
So, 1^st world problem, I now have to go to a store further from my house and park and go in since there is no drive-​thru. It will probably cut down on my Starbucks outings.
Waaaaaahhhh me. I know.

I usually order what most people call a «complicated order», but whenever I come to this location, I feel obligated to order something plain and simple from the menu so this location doesn’t mess it up.
I would say this is one of the worst locations in the DFW because the employees get my order wrong most of the time, and they are terribly slow. I ordered an iced coffee one afternoon, and it took me 10 – 15 minutes in the drive-​thru. I really have no issue with waiting, but 10 – 15 minutes in my car? I thought drive-​thrus were meant to be faster than going inside the store. I didn’t even receive an apology for the excessive wait time.
I also noticed that the employees here never ask for details/​offer extras in your drink. With other locations, they usually ask if you would like it sweetened, iced, etc., but that never happens here. I dislike how they always assume that your drink should be a certain way.
I only come here because it’s the only Starbucks in this area. I would recommend to avoid coming to this location; you’re better off driving to the one in North Irving.
