This is a self-serve cafeteria combination waiter service restaurant. It is cozy, seating about 20 – 25 people. When I came around 9 pm, families were eating here. It has a yellow wall with great photographs of Chettinad and a television displaying the good old music of the popular singers back then in India. I like the servers and waiter was very helpful. Being wide eyed with curiosity, we asked about portion size of particular dishes, availability of dessert, amount of the dosa. The guy in charge let us know honestly what desserts were available – they ran out of kulfi(mango/pistachio ice cream usually with clove flavor). I thought he had a lot of patience with us. I came with 3 other people, two who spoke Hindi/Gujarati. We had the pleasure of eating dosa, chicken biryani, raita, and small sauces. The dosa looked like a work of art, rolled evenly into a perfect cylinder and cooked perfectly and evenly. The meat in our plates of food had lots of flavor and spices and did it smell heavenly. There was a wait for the food, almost 25 minutes, yet none of us were in a rush, so I did not mind. Plus, we started our meal off with Madras coffee which they served traditional style with a metal dish(like a coaster, but prettier) in a bell shaped cup, for us to pour back and forth to balance the flavor of the tea. I found the experience here to be superb, and I would go back in a second. Too bad, Iselin is about 2 hours away from me.

STAYAWAY!!! STAYAWAY!!! STAYAWAY!!! The first time I was there, I thought it was awesome just like how they have their branches in India. But, the second time was a complete let down in taste. I should have stopped after the second time, but I did go there for a 3rd time and boy did I regret that decision. We started eating the Chicken 65 while driving back home, we immediately felt like we were having food poisoning. All other items we got also had the same effect. I think they changed the Chef after my first visit. I am staying away from this place.
