What’s with all the hate? Jimmy John’s is freaking awesome and freaky fast! How dare you asinine Unilocalers compare JJ’s to Subways! Jimmy John’s is the fasted growing sandwoch franchise in the nation and for obvious reasons: the bread is soft, chewy, and baked every 4 hours; the ingredients are top notch; and the service is unbeatable. How do I know all this? Because I plan on buying one! The subs may not be truly gourmet and the bread might not be real french bread, but a little humor never hurt anyone. If you want a quality sandwich with exceptional service, this is the place to go!

Freaky Fast! I ordered online and came in early. Problem? Not here. They made it fast and without complaint. Love my JJs.

Bad version of subway in my opinion. I’ve never ordered any sandwiches here but i have tried the free ones they passed outside as sample and OMG that was the worst ham and cheese sandwich ive ever had in my life. I think the main problem with this place is its bread. THATBREADISNOTREALBREAD. It tastes so fake and doesn’t fit in the sandwich equation. I would never eat a sandwich from here and pay for it. However i give it two stars cause it has rootbeer and i love rootbeer. I come here to get my rootbeer sometimes and everytime i do its empty af in here.

It’s OK. It’s a subway-esque sandwich chain with, probably, low quality ingredients. Which is all good if you get down with that kind of food. The thing that got me is that it’s not even cheap. It’s a ~$ 8 sandwich, and it is just not worth that much. There’s just nothing special going on at Jimmy John’s. The only thing unique about the place is that my sandwich was ready INSTANTLY. My sandwich was ready before I signed my credit card receipt.

Bread is kind of rubbery, but the sandwich itself is okay. Its a little more expensive than subway down the street, but they give you more«stuff.» Still couldn’t overlook the taste of the bread though.

Soooooooo good. Very reasonably priced and tastes amazing! I recommend the beach club. Even if you get the food delivered to you, it’s reasonably priced!!!

Great price. Great service. Great location. Great taste. Store is well kept too! No problems with this place. Using the word Gourmet in their branding seems like a bit much but otherwise a really good choice!

Go here if you want a sandwich that you could’ve made at home in one minute made for you in 30 seconds for $ 10. If you want food that tastes good for cheap, go somewhere else.

I did not like any of the turkey sub. the bread was hard and the avocado spread was gross.

Nothing fancy — name says gourmet, I don’t think gourmet is the right word. I had the veggie sub. Even at 11pm bread was fresh, lettuce, cucumber and tomato were fresh. Ended up tasting great but definitely nothing fancy. Good size portion. The second half of my sandwich didn’t taste quite as good the next morning, was a little soggy, but can’t blame them for that. 10000x better than Subway, that’s for sure.

Their name says they’re a gourmet sandwich place. That’s deceitful; couldn’t be more wrong. With that name, one expects beautiful artisan breads, gourmet cheeses and quality cuts of meat. When I got to the place to check out their menu, I saw that the choices weren’t anything fancy. The sandwiches offered were just the«usual» stuff, much like a Subway’s. No originality. Perhaps the actual product looks better, I told myself. So I proceeded to order #12 Beach Club. Ugh. The turkey was just the type of plain turkey you’d probably buy in a ready-to-go package at a grocery store, not the texture you find in real turkey breasts. The touted famous French bread wasn’t that French. It didn’t have that beautiful crispy, flaky crunch of real French bread. It was just slightly better than Subway’s bread with just a bit more density to it. The lettuce was crisp but it was just plain lettuce, no «gourmet» greens or anything close. The tomato wasn’t heirloom or anything, just a plain sliced tomato. Cheese was provolone. The avocado spread was ok, and it was the only thing that gave this sandwich any taste. I expected more from the reviews I read here and the name of the place. It got two stars only b/c the service was fast and friendly. The product itself, probably could be rated just a small notch above that of a Subway sandwich. Ho hum. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back. They need to up their ante to be called a «gourmet sandwich» place.

The food is good if your in a rush. Don’t expect to be blown away or anything. The Italian sub is the best in my opinion.

I found out Jimmy John’s opened up in IV when I went to SB for Alumni Weekend and I verbally shouted«WTH?! Are you kidding me?!» Why did IV get good food places after I graduated? So unfair! :( The first time I had Jimmy John’s was up in WA3 years back and fell in love. People often compare it to Subway, but the quality is much higher and I think it tastes better. Maybe it’s something they put in the freshly baked bread. I got the Turkey Club, which came with lettuce, tomatoes, light mayo, Provolone, and sprouts, and it was just as good as I remembered. The place was very clean and had seating indoors and plenty of outdoor seating along the street. The bathroom is located down a long corridor and through a door that leads to a sketchy looking hallway, but the bathrooms are really nice(for IV).

I’m being generous with a 3 star rating but I had high expectations I guess. It’s pretty new and seemed like the staff was just figuring stuff out. I got the Italian, and it was nothing special but service was pretty damn fast. I was let down but it’s got potential. I may comeback and try something new. But if you want a sandwich in IV go to Firehouse Subs, blows away jimmy johns in my opinion.

I don’t usually review chains, but I’m a huge fan of Jimmy John’s. Since it’s not as big in California I feel like it’s my duty to write my review. When I found out this location was opening I did a happy dance. Jimmy John’s makes high quality cold deli sandwiches on fresh french bread or thick cut wheat bread. Also, they have an «unwich» on lettuce. Their sandwiches are huge, and they have good options for meat and vegetarian sandwiches. If you want a really unique sandwich get the gargantuan – the biggest sandwich in the world with just about every ingredient they have. I love the #11 country club… ham, turkey, provolone, lots of mayo, tomato and lettuce. Delicious. They also sell bags of nice kettle cooked JJs chips. Notes: This location only has street parking and no outdoor seating but they have several booths inside. They deliver within Isla Vista.

I hadn’t had Jimmy John’s since my undergrad years in Boulder, Colorado, but it is just as good as I remember(probably faster). I will definitely be going here regularly now that there is one close to campus.

I love Jimmy Johns! There is one in my hometown, so when they opened one in IV I was so excited. Their french bread is delicious and to die for. Also, I don’t know what they do to their bacon, but it’s the best tasting bacon I have ever had. I’ve heard people complain that it’s not fancy enough or that’s it’s just as good as subway. First off, sandwiches aren’t fancy to begin with, so get off your high horse. Secondly, Subway is good only if you want a super cheap option. Yeah, you do pay a bit more, but the quality is way, way higher. The bread at Jimmy Johns is baked in house and tastes so fresh and delicious. I always get the Club Lulu and add provolone cheese.
