Post Card Inn Beach Resort And Marina At Holiday Isle

I had a very nice stay –but that was because the manager on duty Sally took good care of us.
The first room we had was in a building (former Howard Johnson’s) being renovated. This was not a very nice area with loud construction and a view of a dumpster! The second room was very, very tiny! Sally moved us to a much nicer room and made our stay enjoyable. Another employee — Rick — head of security, was very nice and gave us a ride to our room.
Lastly, we had a good experience with Jose at the kayak stand.
The hotel itself was very pretty, but guests should not be placed in the Howard Johnson rooms while under renovations, and they should be warned just how small a standard queen room is!

This place was a HUGE disappointment!
I put off writing this review for months because the thought of having to relive the ordeal was upsetting to say the least. My boyfriend & I decided to stay here to celebrate my graduation from FIU. We booked from 08÷06÷15− 08÷08÷15. Worst two days at a «resort» I’ve ever had in my life. Especially being that we had just checked out of the Surfcomber in Miami Beach. And was traveling with my Yorkie Lola.
I reserved the classic king oceanfront over a month prior to our arrival. When we got to the hotel they decided that because they were overbooked to stick us wherever they felt like. Which was confusing to me due to the fact they should of known we were coming being that I booked the room over a month in advance. They put us in the efficiencies off to the side and back of the property which didn’t even look like it was apart of the establishment. We were actually put next to the Dj who told us the establishment puts him there for free, so you can imagine the quality.
I was pretty annoyed about it but we were there to celebrate and enjoy ourselves so I didn’t make a federal case of it. When we got to the room it was about 92 degrees inside. Again, odd to me being that they knew guests were arriving, they knew they were putting us there, I would’ve thought someone would’ve put on the Wall a/​c at least, which not forgetting to mention wasn’t big enough to cool the room at any point. We couldn’t take the heat so we decided to grab a bite to eat at the tiki and wait for the sun to go down and the a/​c to kick in. We get back to the room to take showers and there’s NO water. Had guys coming in and out of the room until late at night and was told bc of construction a water line may have been affected. They moved us to another room overlooking the pool which was very nice (and renovated) but when I went to the front desk the next morning we ended up being told we have to get out bc the guests who booked that room were arriving later that day.
Ticked me off bc obviously we weren’t important enough for them to have the room I booked initially available & they just stuck us wherever.
So we moved again back to the run down old dirty efficiency only to see it hadn’t been cleaned after the maintenance men had done whatever they did bc there were dirty shoe prints all over including in the bathroom and in the shower.
This was supposed to be a fantastic little getaway from it all and it ended up being a stressful nightmare. Instead of celebrating my accomplishments we were moving from room to room basically the entire time we were there. When I complained to management, I was told that they were going to be under new ownership in several months & all the rooms were going to be renovated and up to par. However unfortunately for us, we stayed under their present management and conditions. The manager comp’d one night which was like whatever when we were only booked for 2 nights.
I would’ve preferred to paid full price for what I originally reserved rather than moving rooms and taking time to speak with the manager.
I do not think I will ever return here, it’s not worth the grief.
Totally ruined our time!

10÷24−26÷2015 — Birthday Weekend in Islamorada
First, I must tell you that I love this resort for what I see it is going to be in a few months. At the time, we were here, they had their Tiki Bar and Rum Runners Bar CLOSED and half of the hotel was under renovation. ****I will be here for the Islamorada Half Marathon & 10K in December, so look for an updated review.
The check in process was smooth. We stayed in building 300, Room 319. This is a pretty big spacious resort. Our room was clean and it had a beach vibe. Our big balcony had partial view of the parking lot (which we could see our car, for security purposes this was good) and partial view of the ocean. This room seemed to be renovated. The mattress was firm and the sheets smelled amazing… I gotta get that laundry detergent. The bathroom was spotless. The only thing that was aggravating was the mosquitos in the room. Bring OFF!!!
The resort has two big pools. We chose to use the pool overlooking the ocean. It has a bar. They make a delicious rum runner (On Sunday they had Happy Hour, they were only $ 5) and they have a Key Lime Margarita, it is $ 13, if you want a floater, it is $ 2 extra. It is pricey but you must have one!
They have jet skis and boat rentals as well.
Shula’s 2 restaurant is adjacent to the resort. We ordered take out from there since the other options were closed at the time. We went to the Jaws Raw Bar and didn’t have the best food experience. It is great to grab a beer.
The resort is absolutely beautiful at night, the trees are lit up and the moon was shining over the ocean. We saw a wedding on the beach and the reception under the stars.
Plus it is PET-FRIENDLY…so bring your little furry babies for some fun in the sun.

Gets 3 stars only for the location as it is great, the rooms are clean, cute and beachy. The resort itself is really a gem unfortunately the people are not such gems.
The reservation we made online with confirmation was not what they wanted to charge us when we arrived. The resort fee which did not specify per day when we booked online is $ 25. Then on top of that you have to pay for the entire stay plus deposit upon arrival, if you don’t want to pay they hold the amount on your credit card. The staff was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly, especially the manager. We wound up staying one night since we were already there and going to a 4 star resort in Key west were we did not have ANY of these issues.

The PostCard Inn was a perfect spot for our mini vacation with such a great location and Keys vibe! They are located central to all the great restaurants, bars, and activities to do in Islamorada. When searching for a getaway we found the PostCard Inn and with all the remodeling they have done it has become a picturesque resort. We found a really great deal on
that was over double less expensive than booking directly through the hotel. We planned our vacation with less than 2 days in advance and could not have been more excited to arrive!
Before arrival we called in to see if they had any early check ins available which was foreseen that we would have no luck but you can preregistration to make your check in process faster. During our preregistration the ladies at the front desk advised if they had any rooms available any earlier than the check in time of 3pm they would call. After going to lunch we received a call a little over an hour after registration to let us know we can now check in! The front desk staff was very friendly during each of our interactions along with all the resort staff!
This resort is Pet Friendly with a $ 50 non refundable deposit for your whole stay and your pup can accompany you everywhere on the resort except for on the beach and in the pool! An excellent perk which Islamorada is very pet friendly, we only came across a couple of restaurants that would not allow pups. They also have 3 restaurants on site including the Tiki Bar, Shula’s 2, and Jaws Raw Bar but the Tiki Bar was closed for renovations while we were there. I recommend Shula’s 2 for food & drink and Jaws for drinks only (their food was below par).
The complete resort is manicured very well and kept maintained. They have three beach areas with chairs, some have hammocks, and at the main beach you can order cocktails! The pool is large, clean, and the water is refreshing. They have a $ 25 a day resort fee that covers all the amenities such as the free Kayaks, Water Trikes, Pool Towels, Paddle Boards, Free Wifi, and much more definitely worth the $ 25 extra a day!
Our room was located in building number three as there are a couple of different building. This one is not beach front but we did still have a ocean view room. The inside of our room was spotless and decorated very nicely without being over the top or too bare. They have everything you would need and expect in your hotel room ie Iron/​Ironing Board, Coffee Maker (very cheap but works), Blowdryer, Fridge/​Freezer Combo, TV/​Radio, and a Safe! The AC Unit worked outstandingly which is a very big concern while on vacation especially at night for us. That baby gets down to our perfect sleep temp of 61*! My only complaint would be that the room is a bit on the smaller side but we did also have a larger patio which is always a bonus! The cleaning staff was very friendly each day and did a great job as well!
I would definitely recommend the PostCard Inn at the excellent price and would return for future visits to Islamorada! Our vacation was a very easy-​stress free time all made possible with this charming Keys resort!

I will start with the positives:
Hotel is right on the ocean. Beautiful grounds with a nice restaurant on property, a raw bar, and a tiki bar. Beautiful views all around. Nice, clean, recently renovated rooms with beachy feel. Manager Amy is very sweet and helpful. The water activities (kayak, water tricycle, bikes, etc are included with resort fee). Umbrellas to stay cool under all along the beach. Heated pool.
Cons:
The guy who works at front desk. the unfriendly, unacommodating one, with the attitude.
The vending machine was out of bottled water all 4 nights. Called front desk and they said nothing available. It’s not like there is anything in walking distance so if you want or need a cold water after 10 p.m. and the bar is closed, etc. you are out of luck. The front desk tells you the bar is open till 12 but bartender says last call is at 9:45 p. m!
The shower in my bathroom backed up with water every time I showered and it came up above my ankles and stayed like that throughout shower –GROSS!
Heard they are making some changes, more renovations, etc so hoping things get better here. If they do, I would give it another chance for sure.

Johnny was an amazing server at Shula’s. I highly suggest you ask for Johnny! The rest of the staff doesn’t have the spunk and energy to make it an enjoyable experience, unless you have a few hours to waste and are patient. The burgers are great, one of the best around. We had the brunch as well and have a great spread on the buffet. The best is the key lime pie… must try.
We always eat here when visiting islamorada.
