Pops Seafood Shack

Cool spot but we went on closing day this season and were met by rude waitresses when it started raining and we sought shelter under the restaurant area’s overhang. Overall, service was poor.

Over priced drinks. A bunch of knuckle heads walking around. Food was ok. Atmosphere ok I guess. Food way over priced. But the water and sand with the fire pits gave it a nice touch

Awesome atmosphere, good drinks and good food. Only gave it 4 stars because it was a little pricey, but not ridiculously over priced. Went on a Wednesday and there were so many people! I can only imagine how fun it would be on a weekend

Nice atmosphere but the food made my girlfriend and daughter sick last week. My daughter found a hair in her French fries that wasn’t hers. This place used to be just okay for a quick bite and now it’s terrible. The sand is nice for kids and a cool place for a drink but the service is awful and the food is hit or miss. People will always come back and try the food to see if has improved but when the service is shi* then there is no need to go back. The waitresses and hostess are rude and nasty. They yelled at my 4 year old on the way out because she couldn’t take her cranberry juice with her! Really??? We’ve been there a few times and have no plans of going back. Good luck to those who dare to take a chance. Adding an «o» to Pops to make it Poops!

When I found out I would be going to a place with only 2.5 stars on Unilocal,I was petrified, how could my brother think this is a great place? I decided to just keep my mouth shut and take a chance. I was pleasantly surprised, this place was awesome.
It was not crowded when I was here on a weekend afternoon so there was no wait.
We first started with the mussels which was served with lobster. We also got an appetizer which included shrimp, clams, and scallops. They were both great.
I had the lobster grilled cheese which was served with a small cup of lobster bisque for dipping. It came with a choice of fries, I opted for the sweet potato fries. While the side of lobster bisque was not the best I have had, I didn’t have high expectations since this is not a fancy establishment. So no stars lost there. We also ordered the fish and chips which were great. The shrimp salad sandwich had whole pieces of shrimp so you knew that it was real shrimp and there was no concern about there being any type of fillers. I ate one of the fish tacos from my brother’s dish. They were delicious.
The service was great too! Everytime one of our bowls was getting filled with mussel shells it was replaced with a new one. The manager also stopped by and chatted with us for a bit.
The tables and benches are under a roof but there are no walls so if the weather is bad you are exposed to that. I’m not sure if they can cover the sides, the day we were there the weather was good. On Saturdays they have a live band which was playing at the beach area. I like how it was further away from the dining area so that it was background music while we ate and we were still able to have a conversation. They had many beach chairs in that sandy area which looks like a nice place to chill and have a drink.
I know a lot of reviews complained about a long wait in the evenings, but that is because the place is popular! Wouldn’t you prefer a long wait because a place is popular than going to a place with no wait but terrible service and food?

Great setting and atmosphere with sand and right in the water. However, the waitresses are not so bright.. And that is putting it nicely. One waitress we had couldn’t even do simple math. Three drinks.. Two of them were 12 and one was 13. She couldn’t even figure out that was 37. I got one drink that was 13 and I have her a 20 and she couldn’t figure out that my change was 7. I teach elementary special ed. I know my kids could figure that out. How about you hire girls with brains and not just looks. Also my friends ordered the same drink.. Pops punch and somehow liked and tasted different. The waitress said that they put more orange in one drink and more red in the other.. Whatever that means.. We also sat by a fire place that didn’t even work and the waitress was like oh I guess it’s broken. If it weren’t for the nice atmosphere. .I would never come back! I forgot to mention the biggest down fall. Where do u go to a place where there is a longer wait for men’s bathroom line than women’s? ?? There are two bathrooms outside with one toilet in each and yet the women just walk in and out. There’s another bathroom inside with one toilet. It is absolutely ridiculous that I had to wait 15 minutes just to use the bathroom for 30 seconds! !! Get it together pops

We just got back from Pops seafood shack. I wish I knew about this place before. My fiancé Carol is from Florida and said this is as close as you can get down to the Palm trees. We arrived at 2:30 pm and was told about a 20 minute wait. Who cares. They took my phone number and we went to the bar. We were seated in about half hour good enough. Ordered clams on half shell they serve it with 2 sauces both great. Clams really fresh. Waitress came by to tell me it will be a few extra minutes for the clams. When I said I’m in no hurry I could see a sigh of relief on her face. She was really pleasant. Carol ordered the muscles I order fish and chips. Fantastic. The muscles came In a spicy red sauce with fried calamari on top. Different but great. We had a couple of drinks and they are not stingy with the booze. After I paid the tab we went out to listen to the band and relax. It turned out to be a whole day thing. Gotta go back. Most fun in a restaurant bar I’ve had since I was at the cove in Hillsboro Florida with Carol. Hats off to Pops.

I was recommended this place by many of my friends so I had to see for myself what Pops was all about. As soon as you enter you can feel the positive energy and the scenic view. It’s decoration I found to be so cute. Our waitress was very friendly and upbeat which went with the DJ music playing and vibe of the place. The food was good. LADIES Thursday is ladies night and you receive free flip flops and complimentary makeover as well as half off drinks but at the bar ONLY. Only reason I left out one star was for this reason, I ordered a drink but for it to be half off you had to be at the bar. Otherwise very nice place to come with friends have some good food, drinks and hangout.

I have been coming here since the day they opened. Being as nice as I can I must say they had a number of issues with the food since day 1. I just had, by far, the best meal I have ever had at Pop’s, without a doubt. Everything come out hot and was exceptional and even I cant believe I am saying this about the food at Pop’s. Another help is the dining room is no longer a Wind tunnel so your hot food not only gets to you hot but it is able to stay at a nice temperature till you finish. The oreganata Mussel Pot was so good that I could not believe it, Fantastic. For the rest of the summer I will get that pot for sure. The baked Clams oreganata were truly something special. Guests had the Lobster Rolls and Lobster Bisque and a Salads, all got 2 thumbs up, Great Fries. The main reason I am writing is not only that the food this year is such an improvement from previous years but regardless of where I had this food I would still be equally impressed. Also love it that the dining room is no longer a wind tunnel. In Short, What A Difference!!! Bravo!

If I could rate the atmosphere alone it would be 5+ stars. This is a great place to have a drink and hang out. The food while ok, was nothing spectacular. Had the surf and turf burger. Came with odd cold too much mayo shrimp salad. But the burger was fine. Stick to the basics with food. And our server was nice and efficient. I just wish they ramped up the food.

Only eat the corn! ! The food sucks!!! My drink tasted like medicine, the lobster made me want to throw up and my fries were ice cold! Just come to dance because the atmosphere was nice and inviting. Good vibes again… do not eat here!

Perfect early-​Summer lunch at Pop’s today. The reception from all wait staff was friendly and genuine. The food arrived very fast and was perfectly prepared. The prices were very reasonable. And our server, Ally, was welcoming and attentive but not hovering. Perfect!

Good place with a nice back drop! The only thing letting this place down is the longggg waits to get a table! It is organized chaos.
The food is ok! The drinks are ok and the bar tenders/​servers are hit and miss!
A good place to go and enjoy a beer in the summer.

they have live bands there which is very cool and honestly the only reason we go there. other than that? the food sucks and so does the service. Too bad. The weird thing is every time we go to see a band, the dining room is packed!!! People want atmosphere so badly that they’re willing to eat crap? I don’t get it…

Wow, this is like being at a vacation resort, sand, live music, super friendly staff. Watching the boats reminds me of Venice. Enjoy a cocktail or fresh raw clams .or just sit around a fire pit with friends. This is amazing…

We came here for a birthday. Fun atmosphere! However, DO NOT EAT THE FOOD!!! You will want to vomit!!! It overpriced microwaved nasty food! Don’t eat it!

. My experience was ridiculous more than anything. I wasn’t allowed entry because of the boots that I was wearing. Apparently that wasn’t it though. I had on a cowl neck shirt and khaki pants. I was told that my boots were enough to deny entry, let alone the rest of my outfit apparently. I’m used to hanging in the Burroughs where style is necessary, but this business isn’t about that. The issue is, they don’t post what they want in clubs so you’ll be playing the lottery. Legally, I’m not done with this organization burl socially, I am.

Fun fun! Atmosphere, location, décor, music.
*But stop at the food. Not that great. Maybe a 2.5 stars (I’ll be nice) on food.
*Parking can be tricky so go early. wear flipflops not heels! Well and for the men wear flipflops or your sneakers will end up with sand in them. All drinks are served in plastic cups and the sand is kept clean so you can and will want to take off those flip flops! Beach chairs are all around the outside bar. Four bars with plenty of bartenders.
Outside tables if you would like to dine, but again the food was so so. There is also a section for private parties.

Pop’s has gone from 4 Stars to 2 stars and here’s why:
My friends and I arrived around 5:30pm on a Sunday afternoon looking for dinner and drinks. When we arrived we were told there was a
2 AND A HALF HOUR WAIT
for a table. Whoa! Okay, that’s a long time! But, we thought, we’re already here, let’s put our name down and see what happens.
So, after two and a half hours of drinking Pacifico ($ 6), paying $ 4 for seltzer waters (ridic) and watching this drunk girl fall off her Adirondack chair and refuse to put shoes on…
Our table was ready! Okay!
We get to our table, order a round of drinks. Our group ordered a $ 10 chips and guacamole appetizer that sadly was below a Chili’s or Applebee’s standards of chips and guacamole.
Then, the server takes our order: 2 salads, an order of oysters, and one burger cooked medium and a side of the Cajun corn.
FORTY MINUTES GOES BY BEFORE OUR FOOD ARRIVES AND THE SERVER DID NOT COME TO CHECK ON US ONCE.
MY GIRL, JO, HAD TO GO TO THE BAR TO GET EVERYONE A SECOND DRINK BECAUSE THE SERVER NEVER RETURNED.
This is absolutely unacceptable.
Then, we notice, the burger we ordered was not medium, in fact, it was well done. Additionally, the Cajun corn we ordered was not Cajun and was not corn, because it never came!
Well… there was no way we could possibly find our server, or see our server to tell her that there was something wrong with our order so we had to just deal with paying for the overpriced food and a burger that’s cooked incorrectly.
And, I must add that we were all in agreement that it’s incredibly outrageous, that two salads, RAW oysters and a burger took forty minutes.
Anyhow, we decided to let the manager know about the goings on that day. He offers to buy a round of drinks and says «Sorry.» I really felt that even though I stood and had a discussion with him regarding all of our issues that he really didn’t care about the incredible lack of service and lack of proper food execution. I suppose, maybe people get so drunk there that the staff hopes the patrons don’t notice that the food and service suck?
So, will I be going back for dinner or lunch there ever??? NO.
It’s a nice place to get a few drinks and enjoy the scenery (that part I really enjoy) if you’re okay with spending $ 4 on seltzer water.
It’s NOT a good place for dinner. You will be ripped off with the pricing, wait for a table, wait for the food and then get your food and it will stink.
