John’s Tattoos

I got my second tattoo here, and will now never go anywhere else. My artist was Whitey, he was referred to me by a friend and when I went in without an appointment he still happily squeezed me in. I wasn’t sure what to expect, I had seen his work, but after meeting the guy I was blown away. I had anticipated listening to my iPod for the entire tattoo, so not to have to hear the buzzing from the machine. Instead I had a really pleasant conversation for the hour or so I was there, minus the fact that a man was using a needle to draw on my body, this could have been just any other day talking to some new stranger about life and dogs.
The shop is clean, everyone is super friendly, the work is second to none, especially for the price. The word cheap should never be used in the same sentence as tattoo, but reasonable works.

SAVE YOURSELF, DO NOT GET PIERCED OR INKED HERE, YOU WILL HAVE A BOTCHED TATT OR PIERCING!
This shop is very small and not in the safest area. Instead of opening at normal business hours for a shop (11am/​12pm), they don’t open until almost 7pm and only have one piecer and one tattoo artist on at a time. Its dirty and has a strange odor about it– like a lockeroom mixed with cigarettes and patchouli oil! The body piecers and tattoo artists are all uneducated, unprofessional and unskilled… Sadly, it’s like a playground for amateurs. I’ve never seen one good, solid tattoo come from this place; their color blending is poor, their lines aren’t straight or clean, their shading isn’t smooth, their work doesn’t retain the same shape, and nothing is proportioned– you are basically paying for a prison tatt! On top of the poor quality of work, they are over priced and if you return to have them fix something they ruined, you will be charged full price! I only know 2 girls that went together to get a naval piercing and an industrial piercing but both piercings were not straight– they soon removed the piercings after they became severely infected!
Do yourself a favor and go to a more reputable, clean, well-​lit shop so it gets done right the first time!
