This is by far our favorite restaurant in the issaquah area. The food is always excellent you can’t go wrong here.

The pizza we had was amazing(Black Duck Pie). We also got an order of Duck Drummies and it was great as well. The cocktails were enjoyable and the service was prompt. Would definitely come again!

Went here for the first time last night(around the dinner hour) and I have nothing bad to say about this place except that it was pretty busy, took us awhile to get a seat. But it was understandable, I mean being busy must mean you’re doing something right! I had a couple beers from local breweries, they were amazing. And I had their«SoCal burger» and it was honestly the best burger I’ve had in a long time! This is an awesome spot to catch up with some friends. Some seating is outside which is perfect for a warm summer day. I just suggest you get there before the dinner crowd comes in so you can get a table!

I really wanted to like this place, but I just can’t. The burgers are overcooked. The waiter poured beer down my boyfriends leg and did nothing about it. Food is overpriced. And service was very slow.

Tried out on a Tuesday around 5. Not crowded and got service quickly. The fried oysters appetizer with fries was tasty and served nice and hot. Surprise that fried pickles were very tasty and a nice counterpoint to the oysters. As another customer noted, the fries were not very salty but that is probably better for our health My wife had the Belly Burger and although it had to be sent back to get it well done(I know), it certainly was big enough. She said it was very good. I had the Cask Pork with chips. It was tasty with a nice hint of heat. The chips were house made and very crispy but with little discernable salt.(Again not a complaint as most Americans consume too much salt). The choice of beers, both on tap and bottled or canned focused on microbrews, local and others. They also had interesting ciders as well. It is reasonably priced and we enjoyed it. We will return especially since the waitress comped my wife’s dessert when she complained it was only ordinary and she could not finish it.

Been hearing a lot of good things about this place and thought we should try it out. We arrived the place at probably the busiest hour so its understandable that we kind of waited for a little bit to be seated at a table. We were seated to wait at their al fresco bar until the next table is available. We thought for how busy it was, we will be forgotten but we were suprised how quickly they sat us at a table. Selection of beer is pretty good, amber is limited though which is kind of a bumber coz thats what I and my husband like. I tried the raspberry fields cocktail which I really like because it doesnt kill you with sweetness, its a good balance between raspberry flavor and alcohol with a touch of refreshing mint flavor. My husband ordered the darkest beer they have which is kinda of hard to drink but its still good. We waited for quite a bit for our food which is not really a big deAl for us but Im pretty sure it would be too long for some people. I ordered the pig pancake which I thought is pretty good and pretty filling. I honestly ordered it for the egg and the thought of egg yolk running through a bed of cabbage, onion and pork pancake but the egg came over cooked, But its still bomb so I really dont mind. My husband ordered a bleu burger. Now my husband is a burger conneseiur so when he said its on his top 3, that something else. Using potato bun for their burger is such a great idea because it doesnt loose its integrity with the moistness fof the patty and cheese. Food is really good and we love it. Service is very natural, no fakeness hi how you doing giddy kind of a deal. The servers are super cool and friendly. The ambiance is cozy and the interior is unique and obviously well thought of. The place itself is not big but the placement of the tables and chair is so smartly set up that you still have privacy. All in all, I gave them a four stars because we wAited for our food for awhile. I would definitely comeback to update and try their oyster fries and probably a different beer. Also its fours stars because I value consistency, and this is out first time, so I would come back and update with this review.

Went on a Friday around 5:45 and it was packed. We waited probably 40 minutes but were excited to try this place. The restaurant is pretty small and I felt a little bit stacked on top of others. We ordered the poutine with egg to start and then a blue burger with sweet potato tots. The poutine was awesome! I asked for the burger medium well and it came out WELL with bits of burnt… I wasn’t in the mood to wait for a remake so I ate it and it was decent minus the charred taste here and there. The thing that really sucked was that for it being 85 outside, they had all the doors open so the inside was so hot too! I was sweating the whole time. It would have been more ideal to close up the garage doors and keep the AC running. I think we will come back but probably not on a Friday and not when it’s hot.

This was a surprise find late Friday night in Issaquah. We got out of an event hungry. I figured it was fast food. Instead, we came across this place on Unilocal. Buried in Gilman Village, this place has a nice atmosphere, craft cocktails, wines and beers. The menu has«high quality» junk food, so nice greasy appetizers, burgers and pizza. We just had appetizers and a cocktail(or three) and they rocked. The homemade bagel was delicious. The smoked Gouda dip was as described though too cheesy for me(it was a hit with the others). The house mustard, however, was outstanding. Apparently they have a weekly house mustard. This week it was red(due to rhubarb) and was absolutely delicious. We also had the duck fat poutine and the merguez corn dogs, all of which were delicious. I intend to go back and try other items on the menu. Best of all, they’re open until midnight.

We had this place bookmarked for sometime and finally had some free time to make it over and give them a try… it was well worth the visit! They are located back off the street with some other smaller shops… not hard to find with plenty of parking. It is a smaller place with tables inside as well as a covered semi outdoor area. Kinda an industrial feel with roll-up doors separating the space for colder weather. I liked it! We grabbed a table and our server Damen greeted us with menus and the all important(to me) tap list lol… I chose The Hop Concept Galaxy & Comet IPA8% abv and my wife chose the Raspberry Fields Forever cocktail. Both were very tasty! We chose to sample several small shareable items… all of which were very delicious… Duck Gravy Poutine w/egg … Mac n Cheese w/bacon… Oyster Fry with fried pickles. serious comfort food and we had plenty leftover… I would definitely return and would like to try some more varying items off the menu… based on what we tried I would think the other items would be great as well!

Upon entering the Black Duck Cask and Bottle, I expected a bunch of hipsters in flannel shirts to have an IPA-chugging competition. Just seemed like that kind of place. After five minutes, dude friend and I noticed that service was non-existent. There’s no excuse for that unless there were self-serve ice cream. Then, I would give them the benefit of the doubt that everything else was self-serve. Where’s my wok and olive oil? Whoops wrong place. After giving flirty looks at the server in hopes of getting her attention(this never works, btw), I gave up and went to the bar and picked up menus for ourselves. Dude ordered a blue burger and I ordered the mac and cheese because I have no soul. We received our dishes without napkins. Now, I understand that maybe they thought we wanted to get into an oil fight because the burger had so much oil you could drown an infant in it. However, we were not sumo wrestlers nor were we feeling erotic that night, so we asked for napkins. Just kidding, we had to get them on our own, because what’s service? I usually avoid anything with blue cheese in it because I think it’s the one cheese that tastes like calluses. However, I took a bite of dude friend’s burger and it was quite tasty; juicy and cooked just right. Then I looked at my mac and cheese. It had cheddar, gouda, cheese puffs, bacon, and pistachios. It’s not everyday that I want cheetos dust in my dish but I felt there was always a new low point to achieve. Achievements are important. Probably the blandest mac and cheese ever. Do you guys know what salt is? Here, let me give it to you in the form of a review. Decent 2 outta 5

I checked Unilocal before my visit and shocked to see the 5 stars rating… I thought, wait that never happens on Unilocal.I had to check it out for myself. Is it really that good? Yup. It’s pretty good. Can get super busy but they have awesome drinks and fantastic gastropub style eats. Super lively & when it is warm… fresh air and open seating.

I’m impressed with Black Duck, I’m pleased to report. Holding back from 5 stars due to the small size and extremely violent slamming door but the food is delicious and creative and the ambiance is… well, what you’re looking for in a bar. Friendly(but slow at times) service, beautiful décor, Black Duck simply stands out in Issaquah. We’ve had the poutine, grilled romaine and my wife has had the pretzel. Skip the last but the poutine is mouth watering. Very cool, hipster vibe, should they decide to expand a tad, I think the demand would justify it. Who knows, maybe partner with Pearl, next door. Pearl might need to consider it, seeming like yet another failed venture from the former Herfy’s and Korean restaurant before it.

This place is small, so don’t show up with a group unless you reserve table space in advance. They have a cute little patio for warmer nights, but the inside is cute and industrial and cozy too. You can add duck to just about anything here and the beer offerings are plentiful, making for a wonderful, comfort-filled culinary experience. I went with a group of friends and it was a great place to have a drink, share some plates and relax!

Delicious food, great drinks, good service — the three pillars in any positive dining experience. Plus the extra pillar of affordability — The Black Duck Cask and Bottle was an amazing place for drinks and snacks. What was originally supposed to be a pre-dinner snack for me turned into a dinner, when I underestimated the size of the portions, and overestimated my eating abilities. I’m not mad though — the food was amazing! Their selection of beers was pretty good — I ordered the Odin’s Gift Amber Ale, and stuck with it for the night. Delicious beer that’s not too heavy, and left plenty of room in my belly for their delicious foods. The Duck Poutine(with added duck pieces, of course) was the star of the night. Super crispy and flavorful fries topped with an amazing gravy, cheese curds, and duck! Probably one of the best poutines I’ve ever had. The Oyster Fry and Mac and Cheese were delicious as well. The Oyster Fry came with fried pickles and more of their delicious fries. The Mac and Cheese had huge chunks of bacon and a delicious crust. Amazing! My co-worker ordered one of their pizzas, and really enjoyed it too. Come to the Black Duck Cask and Bottle! It won’t disappoint.

Great place we are excited to go back and try again! We came on a Friday night not knowing what to expect. We walked in and it was a small little place with a line of people waiting for seats — Little crowded but to be expected for the size! The waiter/host offered a drink while we waited. Good vibes and tunes with a lively atmosphere. The food has good potential — just needs salt. Green eyes and ham pizza was good size and had good ingredients, just no flavor. Again, salt needed!!! The little corn dogs were good — a lot of breading, but I like that. He little dipping sauce was food with it. The Mac and cheese would be better with salt. Bland. Fried oysters — very good! Excited to see a place like this in Issaquah and ready to go back during the summer when the outdoor patio section is open to enjoy their beer and drankssss! P. S. Unless you’re familiar with the little Gilman Village area, it took a second to find in the dark! Eeek. We parked in the back parking lot though

First time visiting this place, I was impressed! The Mac n Cheese with bacon and added duck was out of this world. I was a little hesitant to add the duck, but I am so glad that I did. The waitress was very nice, and the ambiance was great along with the music. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the food and beers on tap! I think I’ll bring my boyfriend here this weekend :-)

It’s rare that I’m in Issaquah but I’ve had this bookmarked forever and a day. I had a particular hankering for duck so we decided to make the drive. The Black Duck is small, with warm lighting that demands that you order a bourbon beverage of some sort. So I obliged and had a lovely Manhattan. And though it was packed, we were able to sneak into a table almost immediately. Our server was really friendly and as per our custom, we ordered a lot of food for just two people: We had the duck poutine smothered in duck gravy, large whole curds that would make any Canadian proud(you can even order a duck egg for extra decadence!) The gravy is heavy on the flour and very thick. I wonder if they would ever consider doing a duck demi-glacé instead? We also had the Drunkin’ Duck Drummies. Grilled duck drumsticks in a kind of BBQ sauce. BBQ sauces aren’t my thing but these were REALLY good – not your typical BBQ sauce. Duck is really rich so we also squeezed in some greens – by splitting the Black Duck sandwich with more duck, pistachios, and arugula. The filling was so good, I’ll just order the salad version next time. Make the trip! Even if you don’t think you like duck, these guys will make you change your mind.

Let me first start off by saying there is NO happy hour of any kind at Black Duck Cask & Bottle. I have no idea why they are coming up as the top happy hour spot in Issaquah??? My husband and I came in after some friends told us about their burgers. We dropped in on a friday evening around 6. We found a spot right away at the bar. The owner was nice and introduced himself. He told us they are always crowded and we were lucky to find a seat. I ordered a kiwi margarita and my husband order the Fresca drink. I expected so much more from these the drinks as the reviews made them sound so good. I would not order these specialty drinks again. Both were overly sweet and light on the booze. I did not taste any grapefruit in the Fresca drink(which was a main ingredient??) Next time we will order beer. We shared a pork belly burger and seasonal salad. The presentation was cute — served on a small baking sheet. Burger was great!!! Super tasty! Salad was ok — noting special. They have a nice outside seating area that overlooks the parking lot. Great to have a spot to go in Issaquah on those spring and summer evenings. Not sure about the vibe inside… we will give it another try.
