I am a fan of this restaurant for a long time and I agree with the review below that … What happened to this restaurant? And that’s not a rhetorical question, I’m wondering if something major really happened like a change of ownership? I have no idea but whatever happened it was catastrophic. We have been coming here for years(nearly everytime we visit the Ithaca area) and it’s always been a nice friendly little restaurant with tasty Thai food. We went there this weekend and it was like the evil twin of the old Taste of Thai. Surly management, overwhelmed waitstaff, overwhelmed kitchen. Absurdly long wait, wrong orders delivered to our table, inaccurate spice levels in the food. Not going back, time to find a new place from the many offerings in Ithaca(references from comment below)… I agree with this review. After I feel like food quality was change since Winter 2015 until Feb 2016 then I was back to update my review again. In Winter 2015 the new set of servers are new faces and look really strange. I ordered green curry and Pad Thai, still taste different from before. The curry was very saggy, too liquidy with meat and veggie that not fresh at all and look really strength. Meat(beef) was has no taste, and served in black color, each piece come in too different size, some too big, some is too small, and it was never been like this before for this place. They marinate and keep beef in frozen and fridge for too long same as veggie. Veggie look rally dark and very over cook which I never happened before with this restaurant. For pad Thai with chicken, it was pricey and come in small portion, chicken is really rough and not fresh or tasty and taste really strange than ever. But I still give them one more try. And I was went there on Saturday in February 2016 for lunch with Rad Na(Padd See U with gravy) + Pork but the portion is look like weekday lunch size, it was too small and come with the noodle + gravy + pork + chinese broccoi and that’s it. And I was very disappoint and it was very pricey for 15 dollar for that. I would better spend 15 buck for something else worth the value better, in this town. After I saw the change since Winter 2015 and I still headed back to the restaurant to try more, but it was still going down. And I am totally disappoint with the food portion and quality. I think, I would better cook by myself would be better or eat Rad Na from Hai Hong would be better for me And that would be it. I hope this place will be back on track one day, and I will be back to update to let you guys know. But bye for now for my beloved Thai food. Sadly. P. S. If they change the owner or head chef, they would better tell customer the true, isn’t it? Because we trust them a lot, too. :)

Rice cakes tasted fine, but the sauce that it came with was exceptional. Duck salad was too salty. The duck tasted great. The fried icecream was good, only that the icecream was slightly frozen. The kind of inconsistency from iceream that has been thawed and then refrozen. The kitchen took a long time to make us food(45min), considering we had a large party of 20. Lastly, the waitress with black hair and a foreign accent charged us 28% tips instead of 18.

What a great place. Came in for lunch 5 minutes before it closed and they squeezed me in. I had a beautifully flavoured Green Curry, I asked for spicy and it delivered. Vegetables were crisp and the tofu cooked very well. Will definitely return.

I travel a lot and also go out to eat a lot, and this is my all-time favorite restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing. The service is great, the location is great, and I love going here.

So I assumed I had been to this place before, but the other location — I was wrong. I have never been to either location so this is my first impression. The hostess was kind of a ditz. It was crowded at the door with open seats but still having to wait for 15 minutes for a table. We sat at the bar instead, not a lot of room but it was fine, we just wanted to eat. The bartender took our orders, nice guy. I ordered Som Tom as an appetizer, I am not a huge fan of spicy food but I like some spice to that meal and it was pretty easy to eat. Tasted good but it didn’t really hit the spot for me. I feel like something was missing from it but I couldn’t quite tell what it was. The thing that irritated me about this was he brought me my appetizer and said oh, your meal is ready too but i’ll wait until hers comes out(a friend who I went there with). So my food sat there waiting. Finally, we had our meals. Pad See Ew, my go to. Again, good, but nothing special that blew me away. I ordered mango and sticky rice and it took 10 minutes for us to get it. We sat there and wanted our checks to leave by the time it came out. I think this place is good for the college students and it is easily accessible. If it’s winter, they prop the door open and it can get really cold. Not smart. I would suggest going to Thai Basil instead, but that is my opinion. The food was good, but nothing memorable.

Had dinner here for the first time before a show at the State Theater. We felt welcome and the service was timely. Not being sure what to order, the waitress was very informative in helping us. Food was very good and imaginative. We will return on another visit to Ithaca.

Very good Thai at Ithaca, middle of no where(lol). The Thai Spicy Noodle was great and the Coconut Black Sticky Rice is a must try

This place has really good Thai food! There are vegan and vegetarian options galore! Sometimes the service isn’t the greatest but they strive to make it right if they get your order wrong. In the summer, they will put flowers on your dish and it looks really pretty!

Good food if you are a college student craving some ethnic Thai food. The place brings every dish out at once so I don’t recommend ordering a soup :-) Spicy Thai Chicken is a dish I recommend. Penang curry is not bad either

This has always been my favorite Thai spot in Ithaca. I have only ever had spring rolls and pad Thai but both are very good. The pad Thai comes with chicken and shrimp which is nice and the sauce isn’t too sweet. However, they have recently really cut down on portions. I used to love coming here for pad Thai because i could always take home half of it for leftovers. Now they have cut portions in half so you can’t do that anymore. Sucks that you aren’t getting the same bang for your buck. But they probably had to cut back to reduce costs to pay for the time they were closed due to the health code violation from a plumbing issue. But I’m happy to see that the food is still up to par.

It’s indeed very slow. One of the waitresses said when it’s full, an average of 45min wait for food is normal.(After being seated)

Didn’t even make it into the restaurant to eat. My boyfriend wanted to come here for his birthday. We were waiting in line to speak with the hostess, and she skipped to the group behind us even though we were there first. We walked right out. Not even worth our patronage. Incredibly disappointing.

Ate here with a friend celebrating their birthday. I had the Pad Kra Pao with all the seafood fix-ins, and they had the tofu fried rice, and everything exceptional, though the service could be better. It’s pretty darn good. The thai iced tea was A+.

SLOWSLOWSLOW. Every time I’ve come here, I’ve waited almost an hour for food. Absolutely ridiculous.

Service is a bit slow, but amazing Taste of Thai Chicken! I was tired of getting chow fun and pad thai, so I decided to try taste of thai. It’s really good and VERY filling. Could barely finish it. Thai iced tea is delicious too!

Taste of Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant! I came here often as a student at Cornell. After my first visit, I was immediately hooked. And since then, I’ve been to numerous Thai restaurants that don’t compare to Taste of Thai. Everything on the menu is amazing, but I highly recommend the spicy noodles(drunken noodles), pad thai, spicy basil, and panang curry. Amazing food, great service… it doesn’t get better than this!

A dead fly in the dish, wrong billing, and no apology at all. The waitress seemed to find it no big deal to have flies in the dishes. It’s not the taste of Thai is used to be.

We were looking to have an early dinner, so we were also pleased to know that they were open at 4 pm, unlike many of the places which do not open until 5pm. We have eaten at Taste of Thai many times, so I figured it was time for a review. There were very few people in the restaurant so we did not have to wait for a table, and received very prompt service. When it’s busy, there is really no good place to wait for a table without hovering by the doorway or waiting outside which it far from ideal. We have been there when it’s been very busy and crowded, so this was a nice change. The restaurant is small so when it’s packed to the gills you can feel a bit cramped. We started with the Thai Spring Rolls which were hot, crispy, and delicious. We also had the Papaya Salad, which was good. The portion was small in comparison to other places, and there were no tomatoes in it like the description on the menu. Not a bad version of the dish, but I’ve definitely had better. The Pineapple Red Curry was flavorful and delicious with a nice kick — full of pineapple, eggplant, basil, chicken.etc. The Tom Kha soup with tofu(which we got to-go and ate later) was equally as delicious. Just the right combination of flavor and kick. The service was very good, so no complaints there — the waiter we had was pleasant and attentive. Overall, it is a great place for Thai food and we will continue to dine there in the future. Biggest cons are the lack of parking, no place to wait for your table when it’s busy, tightness of the tables, and the fact that the bathrooms are downstairs where it is dark and not the most pleasant experience.

Been going here since 2008. Was my favorite restaurant for years until recent. I didn’t go for about 8 months until last week. Portions got slightly smaller and menu changed. Still was delicious but slightly less satisfying. Lettuce wraps appetizer still amazing as always.

Somewhere, somebody at some point got the idea that there was some sort of «famous» Thai restaurant in Ithaca. This is resounding crap. That being said, Taste of Thai is pretty darn good. Taste of Thai is good. The red curry is good, as are their other numerous and excellent dishes. Of course, this is far from a surprise: this place is routinely packed with happy customers, and justifiably so. Still, don’t buy into the obtuse hype about Taste of Thai being famous for one reason or another — I’m not sure where it came from, but it’s somewhat manufactured. This place is a fine restaurant, but to my knowledge it’s just that. Enjoy it for what it is, not the nebulous idea that it might be famous for some reason.
